It still baffles me how two people can be so close

Then in just a short time be so distant

When you wish you could say hello

But you don't want to seem desperate

Because you're doubting yourself when they don't say it first

And you give yourself a thousands reasons as to why

Maybe they are shy

Yet you know that's not true

Or perhaps you did something to make them mad at you

You assume and assume

Till fear and loneliness grabs a hold of you

And you think that it must just be you

Then you consider the opposite of course

They don't hate you

In fact they feel the same

Scared of what to say

Because the distance as grown so great

The war between these two notions

Makes you go insane

However you tell yourself you'll be okay

You didn't need them anyway
