Chapter 12

~Effie POV~
// 3 Months Later //

Not much has happened since we arrived back in 12. Haymitch and I started preparing for the baby as soon as we got home.

Last week, I went to a doctor's appointment, to see his far I was on my pregnancy. The doctor said I was about 5 or 6 months already. She asked if I wanted to know the gender, but I declined. Haymitch and I still have that envelope sitting on our nightstand.

I fall asleep every night thinking the same thing. How do I tell Haymitch?  What would his reaction be?

I let out a heavy sigh, feeling guilt for keeping things to myself so long.

"Are you ok?" Haymitch asks me. That one statement put my worries to rest for the moment.

"Yeah," I responded. "Just... Thinking." I could tell he knew something was wrong.

"You know what?" He says, standing up. "You need a distraction from your mind."

"How do I take a break from my mind?" I ask him.

"Just get dressed and meet me downstairs." He says, closing the door behind him.

I slowly got out of bed and got ready.

Haymitch took me to this hill behind our house. I was very confused on what we were doing.

"We are just going to sit and look at the sky." He told me.

"Like a cliche date?" I asked him, giving him a smirk.

"Just count the stars. It helps get your mind off things." Haymitch responded.

"It's pointless to count the stars." I said. "I don't see the point of it."

"It's also pointless to count your freckles, but I know you have 6 on your cheek under your eye." He replied.

"You're a dork." I tell him.

"I've got another solution if you don't like this." He chimed.

"I'm listening." I muttered.

"It involves fire." He said with a smirk.

"Um, no." I say, giggling.

"It'll be fun!" He exclaims.

"Fine." I say. "Tell me what it is."

We walk over to the back of the house to a little fire pit we made.

"What you do," Haymitch tells me as he starts a fire, "is you get a piece of paper and write down your worries on it. Then you throw it into the fire. My mother taught it to me when I was a kid."

"Ok." I respond. I walk into the house and grab paper and a pen. Don't know how to tell anyone, is what I write. I crumple it up and come back outside.

As I throw it in, I know that my statement isn't the only problem I have.

One of the biggest problems is me.

I'M BAAAAACK!

First of all, how is everyone? It's been a bit and I haven't been on here.

Second, I'm sorry it took me so long to update, I couldn't think of anything, but one of my friends gave me advice, and it worked! (Ugh, run on sentence)

I'm updating again soon! (Hold me to it, you shouldn't have to wait this long)

QOTD: Is anyone back into the building for school? If so, how is it going for you?
