2- Skype

Things Change

Leah explained it all to Ruby, who didn't know what to think. She opened the door to their flat for Leah, and locked it. The two flopped onto the couch, and sighed.

"So..that's 11 years?" Ruby calculated, using her fingers. Leah nodded, not knowing what to think. No way was it Dan Howell. The same Dan Howell who'd left her. I mean, they weren't a thing, but it just stung.

"I gave him my number" Leah muttered. Ruby didn't seem shocked. "Well of course you did! It wasn't 11 years for nothing!" She exclaimed. But Leah wasn't excited or happy. To be honest, she was scared. She changed, Dan got popular. She got replaced, she replaced him. It was all a mess and Leah didn't want to talk to him. Did they like the same things still? Were they still capable of becoming friends again?

Dan was on the couch, chewing on his lip. This was tricky. What would he do? Just say 'Hey. What do you like now because I kinda left you to pursue a career that went well for me but now I see you I miss how we were friends!'? No...he just had to say hi. Hi was the key to everything. He sighed and turned on his phone.

'Hey! It's Dan!' He sent. Almost a second later he got a response.

'Hey Dan! We should really catch up, huh? Skype me!' She said, and put her Skype name in. I shifted.

'Sure'

~~~
"Ruby, you did not tell him to skype me" Leah said, mouth open. Ruby shrugged. "Who cares? I turned on the hotspot on my phone, use that wifi" she said, leaving the room. Leah was going to scream something at her, but then her phone violently vibrated in her hand and started to ring.
"Shit, shit, shit" Leah muttered, and turned on face cam as she held her phone in her face.
'This is moving way to fast. I can't do this! People move on. Oh no...'
Dan's face was there. He was smiling a small smile. Leah smiled back. She spoke first. "This is surreal to me" she said, laughing. Dan nodded. "Damn it's been forever. How did Uni treat you?" He asked. Leah shrugged, and Dan got the point. His face fell, but he smiled. "That makes the two of us" he said.
Leah had asked him about his life. He talked about YouTube, his flat, how his downstairs neighbors have sex all the time. He talked about Phil, which made Leah feel a pang in her chest. He kept on about him, how he made him happy and other things.
Leah was contemplating asking if she made him feel happy when they were friends.
But she didn't. Because that was rude.
~~~

When asked about her life, she talked about her job, her flat, and Ruby. She avoided all problems in her life, like how sometimes the ceiling drips when it rains, and how the only wifi was the other person's phone. But she plastered a strong smile on her face, and she kept on about the good things that were happening. Like, a promotion. Like, her parents being well.

She was asked of her favorite color. Blue. Favorite band. MCR.

They went back and forth, talking about what the other person missed. But Leah still felt sick about it all. Dan had changed, she had changed. They both still kind of had the same feel to them, but Leah wasn't one to favor change. It was as tough as it is moving out of uni and finding a flat mate.

To Leah, change was bad.
