Chapter 24

I'm underwater. It's dark, and cold. I can't breath. I'm watching as the surface becomes father, and farther. I open my eyes. I take a breath of blissful air and look right next to me to see... what the heck is that? Next to me. I see a plush of fluff. A teddy bear, of course I let my inner little girl take over and reach over and grab that adorable little plush. Seems to be one of the few comforting things in my life right now. Then I noticed. There is a zipper in the fluffy fluff. I open the zipper out of curiosity. Out comes a folded piece of paper. I stared at that thing for a long while. Who cuts open a fluff fluff and stuffs paper in it!? I open the paper nevertheless

You were a good slave. Here is your reward

~Bandit

I stared at that piece of paper for a long time. When I snap out of it I realize that I am holding fluffy fluffy so tight that I think the little thing is about to burst. Then I realized. Is this really a good thing? I now am debating with myself on whether or not I should rip this teddy into a million pieces. Hug it. Burn it. Cry into it. Throw it out the window. Love it. Hate it. I don't even know what to do with a stupid teddy bear. So I just sat there for a long time. I don't even know when I started crying again. I just do. After I have that little melt down I start thinking about how I can try to save Leah, Marcus, and Ace. I check myself out. I have a few new scrapes but no major damage I think. I don't understand what to do though. Should I call the police? I shouldn't just be sitting here doing nothing. God, what do I do? The door opens and I swing my head and Celeb walks in.

"Oh you're awake. Good, I just got some water." He hands me one of the two water bottles he is holding. I take one and greedily drink, only just then realizing how thirsty I was. I caught a glimpse of Celeb, who was looking at the bear (I'll call it Misty!) with confusion.

"That." Celeb says pointing at Misty. " Wasn't there when I left. And I was only gone for five minutes." I wrinkle my brows. Only five minutes, or five whole minutes? To anyone else five minutes would be nothing. But to some, five minutes is a lot of time. Someone can get in and out without anyone noticing in five minutes. But why would they go through the trouble of putting Misty there. It can't just be a gift. Can it?

"You know Ace, Marcus and Leah could all be fine. Missing, but fine." Celeb says. I mean, it could be true. But we wouldn't know because they are MISSING. I just don't understand what my friends have to do with this. Wait, why is Celeb still here? I consider him my friend.

"Why didn't the bandit kidnap you?" I accidentally blurted out. Oops. Celeb looks surprised, maybe even a little shocked but he quickly gets over it and replies

"Well, it might be because I'm new and maybe the bandit thought I wasn't friendly enough for me to be your friend." Well, that logic makes sense I guess. I'm too tired to think right now... I gotta go home though. I get up and walk out the door. When I get out the door my mom hugs me.

"Mom, what's going on? Are you ok?" I say confused.

"Your friends weren't in class. Their Leah's parents called, everyone was worried that they might be..." My mom explains not finishing her sentence. She doesn't have to, we both know what could happen. My brother runs in the room, shattering the silence.

"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" my brother screams with a trail of toilet paper clinging to him. I sometimes wonder if I was like that when I was young.

"Big black bugs bleed blue black blood while little bugs bleed blue." My brother recites. I'm surprised that he could do that tongue twister. It would be impressive if he didn't have a line of paper square papers stuck to his butt. My mom focuses all her attention at him and I go upstairs while my mom scolds him. The crying should start soon and I don't want any more things to deal with than I already have. I just go to my room and flop on bed, planning what to do next.
