Draco had almost forgotten.
Ginny was walking next to him, Harry's arm wrapped around her shoulder, talking about the quidditch game next week. They had all just finished with dinner and were now headed in the general direction of their common rooms.
Draco knew he would be heading to his common room, as for the couples in the group, he had no clue where they would be sneaking off to, though he imagined maybe a broom closet or two would be occupied later in the night.
He was opening his mouth to shoot in a comment about the up-in-coming game when he was simply caught off guard.
A small hand slipped into his and at first he figured it was Luna, but then he remembered Luna was walking in front of him with Ron and Neville. He looked to his right and his eyes connected with Hermione's. Her thin fingers intertwined with his and then she was tugging gently, pulling him away from the others and moving down a corridor rather than continuing down the hall.
Draco allowed the girl to lead him away, though he was completely confused. "Granger?" His pale eyebrows were raised and he was staring down at her curiously.
"You didn't forget about joining me in the library, right?"
And then it dawned on him exactly why Hermione Granger was holding his hand and leading him down a secluded corridor. "Oh yes, the library."
And then it was silent as they continued on their way, her hand still in his.
Draco held the door open and allowed Hermione in first, and then he slowed his pace ever so slightly so he could walk behind her, following her through the rows of tables until she found one she liked.
And it was only then that Hermione Granger finally released his hand. Taking his seat, he began riffling through his book bag, pulling out his supplies.
They didn't talk as they studied, each working on their own things. Neither needed help from the other; however, they were both content in the other's presence.
It was a couple hours later when Draco had finally finished all of the homework he had been planning to save for Sunday night and he was actually quite happy with having it all done early. Maybe Fridays in the library wouldn't be such a bad thing to continue doing.
He stood, stretching his back, and Hermione glanced up at him. "I'm just going to look around, I need a new book." His voice was soft after not being used for a bit and she nodded before continuing with the last, little bit of her work.
Draco turned towards the endless shelves and he found himself moving towards the magical creatures section without having noticed. He explored the section a little before finally settling on a book about mermaids. He made his way to the front desk in order to check it out before he walked back to his table.
Hermione was standing now, placing her things in her bag. She yawned as Draco stopped at the table.
"Tired?" He found himself asking as he placed the new book and all of his supplies into his bag.
She yawned again, then answered, "exhausted."
"Well at least now all of your homework is done."
"Very true."
The walk to their common room was quiet. Before opening the door to the private common room, Hermione turned to him, "I'm just going to change and then I'll be headed to bed."
Draco nodded, twisting the doorknob, "I'll meet you down here then." He held it open for Hermione, who entered quickly and grabbed for Draco. She managed to grab hold of the front of his shirt. Her fist balled the fabric and she pulled him in quickly, trying to save the already sleeping individuals from getting the bright light from the corridor shined in their faces.
Draco chuckled softly and pulled the door closed behind him swiftly, easing the door into the doorframe softly so the click would be almost silent.
Already asleep, Tracy and Daphne were leaning against one another on the couch closest to the fireplace. Neville was sitting in an armchair, reading a book. He looked up, giving the pair a smile before looking back down and continuing to read.
They split when it came to going to their dorm rooms. Draco did his usual evening routine, brushing his teeth and changing into his sleeping clothes, a pair of sweats and plain white tee shirt, as well as emptying his bag of his now finished homework and school books.
When satisfied with everything being put away, he exited the room and made his way back down to the private common room. Hermione had beat him down there and was sat on the end of the couch closest to Neville's chair, talking to him.
Draco grabbed a pillow and blanket from the corner, moving towards the couch. He curled up on his own end of the couch, now finally realizing just how tired he was.
He only heard a few minutes of Neville and Hermione before he was out.
-
Draco woke on that Saturday morning very slowly. It was a gradual thing that he almost wished didn't happen. Because he was feeling great and he didn't have a nightmare last night and it was Saturday for Merlin's sake, he should be able to sleep all day if he wished.
But the sun was peeking through the window and was now shining a small patch on his face. He groaned softly and edged away from it. But then he stopped when something tickled his cheek. He froze, unsure of what was happening.
His eyes were still closed and the sun was still shining on him and Draco was beyond confused because now something was moving against him, digging into his chest and edging deeper into the crevice of his neck.
Slowly his eyes opened and he squinted against the sun before looking down. Bushy brown hair blocked his view. And finally he understood.
Hermione Granger was laying on top of him, curled deep into his side, her face buried into his neck and her curls tickling his cheek.
Draco was once again at a loss for words when it came to this golden girl and her wild curls.
