Chapter 13: Fights (edited)
I frowned as I softly dabbed a damp towel on Yurio's lip, he winced and backed away. "Stop." He hissed. "Sorry." I apologized and looked down, my heart felt heavy with guilt. "Oi, don't you dare feel bad." He warned with a growl.
I reluctantly looked up at him and forced a smile. "I'm not," I stated falsely. "You're lying. I can see it in your eyes." He stared dangerously at me like a wild cat stalking its prey, I sighed. "Yuri, I was supposed to protect you I was supposed to make sure you were safe and unharmed." I took a shaky breath. "I failed you, I failed to protect you." Yurio leaned forward and lightly punched my shoulder. "Shut up."
He still gave me a glare, Victor had stayed silent ever since we arrived from the school, something seemed to bother him. "I told you they wouldn't like me didn't I?" Yurio said trying to prove his point. "No, I'm sure they liked you. It's me they're after right?" I asked, but who exactly were 'they'? Who would hurt Yurio just to get to me? Was Victor also involved?
I cleared my mind and looked down at my hands gripping onto the towel in my hand. "You're innocent, you don't deserve to get hurt." Yurio stated, "I should be the one saying that!" I shot my gaze to him. "You did nothing wrong! It's like...I was the one who hurt you!" His face paled at the realization. "..no.." he muttered and turned away. "That's..." he shook his head. "Not true!" He yelled angrily.
I winced and scooted back knowing that he probably needed his space but I couldn't tell if he wanted to be alone or wanted somebody with him, instead, I just kept my distance until he ordered me to go away, I just waited as he steadied his shaky breathing. "You did nothing wrong pork cutlet bowl." He retorted and took a long sigh before plopping onto his bed lying on his back.
I frowned and forced myself to believe what he said for his sake. "I think it's best if you miss a couple of days," I suggested quietly. "No need, the principal already gave me a whole week off. He said I was acting ridiculous and needed to cool off." Yurio muttered darkly. "Stupid racist." He spat. "I think I'll have a talk with him," I stated with a frown, I believed that Yurio did nothing wrong and was looked down upon because he was a new student from a different country.
He sighed and rolled on his side to face me. "I guess there is a couple of good things though. I don't get homework and I don't have to face all those crazy fangirls." He chuckled. "There was this one boy he kept asking about you, I think his name was Minami." I cocked my head to the side, the name did sound a bit familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it, Victor soon arrived preoccupied with his phone, he was smiling.
He turned to Yurio. "I'm going to talk to one of your teachers tomorrow Yurio, supposedly the principal required that I go only since I practically raised you myself." I felt a tug at my heart. "I don't care!" He snarled and scooted a bit closer to me. "At least I get to stay with pork cutlet bowl instead of your crazy ass." He muttered. "Yurio watch your profanity!!" Victor gasped and clutched at his heart dramatically, I felt better after Yurio's comment though.
Yurio stuck his tongue out at Victor, the cut on his lip was barely noticeable but the bruise still needed time to fade. Victor frowned and looked down at his phone again a giggle emitted from his lips. "What's on your phone Victor?" I asked curiously, he jumped and quickly clicked off his phone. "Ah...Chris told me a joke." He said quickly. "Oh?" I frowned.
Yurio scoffed and sat up. "That's bull." He stated. "If I know one thing it's that Chris's jokes are perverted, not funny, so unless you're a pervert I assume it was not just some joke." I could easily tell that Yurio was in a sour mood so I place a hand on his shoulder and looked into his eyes, his face softened and he sighed. "Sorry." He apologized quickly. "Yurio, do you feel more at ease with Yuuri?" Victor asked with deep curiosity.
I glanced at Victor wondering just what exactly was he thinking. "...so what if I am? It's none of your business." Yurio mumbled. "He's not a stupid drunk like you. He doesn't lecture me all the time and I'm pretty sure he's not a manwhore like you." I flinched at Yurio's sudden words, Victor seemed hurt by his comments. "Yuri Plisetsky I demand you apologize right now," Victor ordered. His mood changed to one of anger, I was afraid for I had never seen Victor get angry before.
Yurio was now getting angry as well. "Like hell I'll do that! It's obviously the truth! You're a filthy man who practically slept with every woman in Russia! Just wait Yuuri when he's done with you he's going to leave you!" I jumped, bewildered by his shout. "That's not true! Yuri just be quiet! You're a disrespectful child who really deserved to be disciplined, I hope you got some manners knocked into you!" Victor yelled back.
My heart hammered against my chest, anxiety ate me up like a bloodthirsty animal. "Get out! I hate you!" Yurio stood from the bed and shoved Victor, Victor grabbed ahold of Yurio's arms and glared angrily at him. "Apologize." He demanded in a low tone. Yurio stared at Victor with so much intensity. "Fuck off." He spat. With that, I feared the worst and got in between them. "Just stop it already!" I yelled.
They both kept on glaring at each other. "You guys are being ridiculous so just stop!" I demanded, Victor pursed his lips. "This was definitely a mistake." He muttered and turned away stomping out of the room slamming the door behind him, I felt like I had been struck with a spike through my chest. Yurio cursed and looked away from me. "What do you want? Leave me alone." He trudged back to his bed.
I opened my mouth to say something but decided to stay quiet and slowly walked off opening the door and left before turning my attention back to Yurio. "Yuri just know..I'll be here for you okay?" With that, I left knowing that this time he definitely needed to be alone. Victor was in his own room, he locked Makkachin out, the poor pup was scratching at his door and whimpering.
I frowned. "You and me both buddy," I mumbled and lead him to my room where I sat on the ground leaning against my bed. "They can get really scary sometimes," I said to myself as Makkachin lied beside me, his head resting on my lap. "You're not scary though Makkachin." I rested my hands on his head and glumly smiled as he dozed off, I flinched when I felt something drop onto the back of my hands.
I looked down and noticed the stream of tears dripping from my chin. "Oh..look at me." I quickly wiped away my tears. "Really pathetic of me right?" I took a shaky breath and patted Makkachin's head as he slept. "This is my fault.." my heart was heavier than before, all this could've been avoided if I disappeared from the skating world, I should've quit a long time ago.
I was shaken from my thoughts when Mari arrived with a tray in her hands. "Hey, Yuuri." She entered quietly and set the tray on my nightstand, there was a cup of tea and a plate of cookies. My bottle of pills was also near the plate, Mari knew. She kneeled to the ground and extended her arms out. "Come on." She sighed with a small smile, I instantly jumped into her arms which startled Makkachin awake, and hugged her tightly.
She rubbed my back and soothed me until I calmed a bit. "It's getting late, have some tea and cookies, take your medicine, and get some rest okay?" She moved the hair away from my face and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving. Makkachin was now lying on the bed, I avoided the cookies and took the bottle of pills and warm cup of tea into my hands.
I took off my glasses and placed them on the nightstand after taking my medicine and turned off the light, I sat at the edge of the bed not wanting to lie down, I craved for another human's contact. After letting time pass I grabbed a blanket before trudging out into the hallways my casted foot made an annoying thumping noise with each step I took.
Makkachin was close behind me as I stood in front of Victor's door, I first knocked quietly, no response. I knocked a little louder earning a groan and a harsh "go away!" from Victor. I instantly felt bad. "O-oh yeah..uhm sorry!" I apologized and went for option two I trudged to Yurio's room and quietly knocked, I only waited for a couple of minutes before the door opened revealing a disheveled looking Yurio, his cheeks were pink and puffy.
He pulled me inside and closed the door shut, without being able to see I fell back onto his bed, he lied down beside me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "I'm sorry." He mumbled quietly. "It's okay, we're all human. It's natural." And with that, I drifted off to sleep with Makkachin sleeping at the foot of the bed.
-----------------------
The next day I awoke with Yurio snoring quietly, I carefully sat up slowly prying his arms off of me and stood slowly, Makkachin was nowhere to be found and the door was wide open. I silently walked out into the hallway slightly smiling at the familiar sound of my mother humming a quiet tune, I didn't have an appetite today though.
When I arrived at the kitchen Victor was silently sitting at the table with an empty plate in front of him. "Oh! Good morning Yuuri, you should eat breakfast." He suggested, I didn't know why but I couldn't look at him the way I used to, each time I did it made my stomach churn. "No thanks, I'm not feeling well." I kept my gaze to the ground. "Are you going to the school?" I asked.
I glanced up at him. "Yes, it's important that I go." He stood from his place on the ground. He was nicely dressed in a thin sweater and a pair of jeans. "..right.." the atmosphere around us was awkward and felt so unfamiliar and wrong. I didn't like the change, it hurt my chest so much, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't see.
The room was tilting, my breathing quickened. What was happening to me?
I was quickly brought back to reality, Victor was gripping onto my shoulders his face was filled with concern. "Yuuri, calm down. Breathe Yuuri." He demanded in a firm but calm voice I stared into his eyes and slowly evened out my breathing. "..it's my fault," I whispered and escaped his grasp. "Sorry, I'm still a bit tired," I said quietly and returned to my own room grabbing my medications on the way.
Victor's Pov
I sat silently in Mr. Katsuki's old car, it smelled faintly of womanly lotion and perfume. I looked at the mirror above me frowning at my reflection, dark bags rested under my eyes and my hair was messy due to the harsh wind, my mind wandered to Yuuri and how broken he looked. I definitely screwed up big time, last night I instantly regretted yelling at him I wanted him to return but I knew he was upset.
And then this morning, he was so pale and looked so tired I panicked when he tipped and swayed almost at the verge of blacking out. I was hesitant to leave but the name of the teacher had caught my attention, and if I'm being honest I really did not want to face Yurio. I was still upset with him, but he was still very important to me it was wrong of me to yell at him like that especially in front of Yuuri.
I gritted my teeth and drove into the school's parking lot, I parked the car near the front office and climbed out. "I'm doing this for Yuuri, for our future family," I whispered to myself and closed the door shut. I straightened out my sweater and took a breath, I wasn't deeply upset with Yurio, in fact, I was upset that he got hurt and with my mood yesterday he got me a bit angry and I couldn't stop or control myself.
Entering the office I was met with the principle, he was in his late forties and already had gray hairs, although for someone his age he was well built.
Behind him was...
My eyes went wide, my heart instantly stopped. The woman was looking down her beautiful hair fell in front of her face, her light blue eyes were cast to the ground not seeming to take notice of my presence. The principal opened his mouth to say something but I interrupted him by instantly throwing my arms around the woman and smiled widely.
My heart was beating a million beats per second. "I..I can't believe you're here! I missed you so much!" I exclaimed happily, all my thoughts and worries from earlier soon disappeared...why was I here again? I shook my head and focused on the woman who I was embracing and pulled away from the embrace to meet her gaze, she looked at me with wide shock filled eyes. "Victor?...is that really you?" She asked quietly.
I grinned and nodded. "Yea-" I was cut off when she threw her arms around my neck and then..she kissed me, hard. My mind went blank and I placed my hands on her waist, I was left astonished yet mildly confused. What exactly was happening?
