Newt woke up, strapped to a chair. He didn't know how long he'd been out, but he didn't think it was long, considering that Draculous was still in the middle of tying one of his ankles to a chair leg. Alright, I just need to stall until Tina gets here. Draculous looked up, seeing him awake and smiled. "Oh, look who's awake already. Good evening, Mister Scamander."
Newt moved around, testing the strength of his binds. They were tight, just as he expected. He glared at Draculous. "Why are you doing this?" he asked, trying to act oblivious.
"I think you can guess why," Draculous moved across the room, sitting on the couch next to ______ and putting an arm around her. "You did a good job of lying to ______, Mister Scamander. My PIs told me how you and your other friends were hard at work trying to shield her from seeing magic, lying to her all the time. You even tricked her into going to Britain with you."
"She wanted to go," Newt protested. "You're the one who kidnapped her. Don't make me sound like I'm the villain. You're the villain here, Draculous."
Draculous laughed, getting up and picking up a large kitchen knife. "The marks on ______'s arm, the scars, those are from you. From your case of beasts, no doubt. You hurt her, Newton. I could easily kill you and be done with it, but for what you did to her... I don't think you deserve the luxury of a quick, magical death."
_______ opened her mouth to speak, but it seemed as if Draculous had casted a silencing charm on her, because no words came out. Newt and ______ made eye contact, and he noticed that her ankles were still tied together. It would make it hard for her to move around the room and get out of here, even if Newt distracted Draculous. I have to remember that she's his blind spot, Newt thought, and he tried nodding at her to reassure her that he knew she was trying. Draculous noticed this, turning around and seeing her pleading expression. "Oh darling, you shouldn't feel bad for him. This man hurt you more than I ever could, just look at your arm. You want to run back to a man who keeps the beast who did such damage to you?"
It was an accident! ________ wanted to call out. Newt would never do that on purpose, unlike you. However, she couldn't say a thing, and the ropes around her ankles made it hard to move. A silent tear moved down her face, and Draculous put the knife down, trying to comfort her. "Hey, hey, it's okay. He won't be around for very much longer."
"She's not crying because of me," Newt provoked, trying to get him away from her.
It worked. Draculous turned around sharply, going up to Newt and grabbing him by the collar. Newt couldn't do anything to defend himself or shy away, so he kept a determined expression and stared Draculous down. "Are you really going to talk back to the man who has you tied up?" he laughed in Newt's face, then his fist moved rapidly, planting a solid punch right in the middle of his face. ______ tried to scream as blood came down from Newt's nose and Newt coughed, trying to flinch away. "You really are an idiot, Mister Scamander. Did you really think you had the high ground in this fight? You never had a chance."
"You're a monster," Newt coughed again, blood getting into his mouth and dripping onto his pants.
Draculous raised a fist again, this time punching Newt in the gut. He coughed more and Draculous started talking again, but Newt wasn't listening to him. He watched as ______ reached for the knife Draculous had forgotten behind and brought it to her ropes. I need to keep him distracted, he thought, looking back to Draculous. "Is that the best punch you've got?" Newt taunted him. "I think I've been dealt a harsher punishment at Hogwarts."
Draculous took the bait, anger blinding him from any clever plan. All he saw was red, and he wanted Newt to be covered in the color. He raised another punch and was ready to deliver it when suddenly, something hit him on the back of the head: a fire poker. _______ had gotten out of her bounds and had grabbed a fire-poker from the fireplace, and she raised it again and swung, taking him to the ground. That's when the temporary silencing charm finally wore off, and she could finally scream. "Get off!" she screamed once he hit the ground.
Draculous raised a hand to his head, feeling the blood drawn, and looked up at ______. "I thought you were finally learning," he muttered, in a state of shock. "I guess that one's on me."
"I'll never learn to love you," she stated, and before he could get back up, swung again. She didn't want to take any chances. He moved out of the way before it could connect, trying to get to his feet. ______ felt her heart drop, wondering is this was it. The final fight.
He got up and she swung, but he grabbed the fire poker. "Too slow," he stated, pulling it towards him and punching her in the face. She fell to the ground, letting go of the fire poker. Newt was scrambling helplessly in their chair, calling out for ______, wishing he could help. "Time's up, Mister Scamander," Draculous stated, raising the fire poker, ready to stab him.
He never got the chance.
Before he could even swing it, _______ grabbed him by the ankle, grabbing the knife from before and stabbing him in the foot. He cried out in pain, dropping the poker. "No chance," she told him, pulling the knife out and stabbing him again, this time in the thigh. Draculous fell to the ground, blood rapidly escaping the deep wound. "I'm saving myself this time, and I'm getting Newt out of here while I'm at it."
Before Draculous could even try to get up, Tina burst through the door, accompanied by Madam Picquery and a few other Aurors. Newt let out a sigh of relief, muttering "You're late, Tina."
"It took a little more time than I anticipated," she stated, leading them to Draculous. She didn't imagine he'd be in this bad of a shape, she expected more of a fight.
_______ ignored them taking Draculous and went to Newt, cutting the ropes that bound him. "You came for me," she cried happily, sobbing as she started to undo his ropes. "I'm so sorry, you don't deserve this, I shouldn't have dragged you into this."
As soon as he was free, Newt pulled _______ into his arms, beginning to shush her and comfort her. "This is all going to heal, _______. The important thing is that you're going to be safe, Draculous is going away for a long time."
_______ looked up at Newt, tears staining her face, but smiling. "I love you, Newt."
Newt smiled, leaning over and kissing her softly. "I love you too, ______. Let's go home."
