Chapter 17

Katy slowly walked up to the front door but only stopped when she heard someone clear their throat. She turned around with a glare, finally meeting Katelynn's eyes.

"I suggest you go back to bed before I get your dad involved."

"You can't tell me what to do."

"I have you know I have every right to tell you what to do. Now, please, go back to bed before I call your dad. It's four in the morning, where you going?" Katelynn glanced over at the bag on her back and sighed. "You are not running away, Katy."

"Just go away and let me do what I want. As long as you and that..." She glanced down to her stomach and glared. "...thing are here, I'm not staying."

"That thing is your little sister, Katy," she said softly. She walked up to her and took the bag off. "Now go back to bed."

"Move or else I will push you." Katelyn leaned against the front door and crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm warning you, Katelynn."

"Katy, you are seriously not gonna push a pregnant lady."

Katy groaned out loud as she felt the blood rushing through her veins. She thought of all the times that she had put her trust into Katelynn and now it all seemed like a big fat lie. She knew Katelynn was just doing it so she could get rid of them and have Vicky for herself and start their own little family. After-all, the kids weren't really his so he didn't really have to look after them. In the moment of anger, she grabbed Katelynn by the shoulder and pushed her to the side.

Katelynn automatically put her hands around her bump and felt herself land on to the tiled floor. At first she didn't feel anything but only a second later, she felt a burning sensation throughout her arm. Then she felt the sharp pain in her stomach and cried out in pain. Vicky glanced up from his papers before rushing to his feet and running to the front door. He looked over at Katy who was staring down at Katelynn with fear in her eyes.

"Dad...I didn't mean to..."

Vicky ignored her and got out his phone. He knelt down beside an anguished Katelynn who was still crying with pain. Leah rushed into his view but he looked straight back down at Katelynn. "It's okay, baby," he whispered. "Everything is going to be fine."

"Hello?" a man said threw the phone. "What's the problem-"

"It's my girlfriend. She's twenty-two weeks pregnant and she just fell onto her stomach. I think she broke her arm which broke the fall and she's in a lot of pain and I don't know what to do."

"Can I have your address?" Vicky quickly told him the address as the kids looked down at their tearful father. Thomas ran through the hallway, crashing into Leah's legs. "Okay just get her to calm down a little, just tell her to breathe in deeply and exhale. I know she is in a lot of pain but we have to do our best to reduce the stress for the baby."

"Okay." He put the phone on loudspeaker before putting it down on the floor. "Honey, listen to me," he said softly. She groaned in pain and looked at him. "Breathe in slowly for me, okay? Nice, slow, even breaths. Stress is not good for our little girl okay?"

"Move the kids," she said through her clentched teeth. The kids automatically went into the living room.

"Think of a happy place." Katelynn smiled at him before gasping in pain. She grabbed her stomach as she felt a sharp pain run through.

"First year." She gasped again. "First year anniversary. We went to McDonalds again because that was our first date," she said with a laugh. Vicky smiled at her. He then looked through her pockets and took out her phone. After typing in her password. he immediately called Melisa and waited for an answer. When she didn't answer the first time, he called again.

"What's up?" Nathan answered with a yawn.

"Nathe, it's Vicky. Listen, I really need one of you to come here as soon as you can. Angel fell down and I don't know if it was accident or if Katy pushed her but she fell and landed on her stomach. She broke her arm and I don't know what's happening with the baby so please, can one of you guys come down here? I would have called my mum but you guys are closer and I'm not leaving Angel. I'm going with her."

"The kids aren't feeling well so I'll just come by and pick them up, is that okay? And, Vicky, calm down, okay? It's not going to help her if she sees you so panicked. I'm coming in five, tell the kids to get ready."

"Okay. Kids! Get ready now, Nathan is coming to pick you guys up in five minutes. Get everything you need. Now!"

--

Vicky placed his hands on Katelynn's cheek before leaning down to kiss her head. He heard her stir and pulled back gently, making sure she didn't wake up. He then kissed her bump and sat back down on the chair.

"Daddy's gonna give you the world, my little angel," he whispered softly. "And you're going to have the greatest mummy in the world who is going to teach you how to be a strong woman and not take any crap from anyone. And I'll be damned if you turn out like your mother because I'll have to lock you in a tower so no man ever lays his hands on you. And you will have your brother and your sisters who will love you and help you. I know Thomas is going to be your big brother who is going to look out for you and will make sure that when I'm not there to keep the bad guys away, he will make he does. And I'm sorry not everything is going right now but I promise you that before you come out into the big world, I will make everything right for you. I promise. I'm going to make everything right." Vicky wiped his tears away before leaning over and kissing the bump again. He heard his phone ring in his pocket and quickly took it out so it wouldn't wake her up.

"Hey, it's Nathan. I was just wondering if there were anymore updates."

"Nothing has changed. She's just sleeping now which is a good thing because it took forever to put her to sleep. Do you know how many lullabies I had to sing her?" Nathan laughed softly. "The main thing is that the baby is okay. Luckily her arm broke the fall. They already bandaged her arm up and the doctor said that they will run some tests mid day and if everything is okay with the baby and her, we can go home by tonight."

"Do you want me to keep the kids for the whole weekend? It's bank holiday on Monday anyways so I can keep them till then. It would give you two some time to be alone and stress free from the kids. I'm pretty sure she will need her rest."

"You sure? You said that your boys weren't feeling well and I don't want to put too much on you guys."

"It's only for another two days, Vic. No problem. Least I could do for giving so much to my sister." Vicky sighed as he glanced over at a sleeping Katelynn.

"I have never given her enough," he said. He felt the tears burn his eyes. "I have never given what she deserves. She deserves so much better. So, so much better. And I try my best but I always feel bad that I can't just whisk her away and go places like she wanted. I know she wanted to travel the world and I just-" Vicky brushed away his tears. "I love her so much, Nathe. She means the absolute world to me and I can't give her what she needs."

"You know what she always used to say when she was younger? The one thing she wished for?"

"What?"

"A family of her own. She said that she will have loads of children and live in a big castle and she will be a princess with a crown and she will have a thrown and all sorts," he said with a laugh. "That was when she was six, bear that in mind. But the most important thing she said was that she wanted a loving family and that if she can't have children she wanted to adopt so she wouldn't feel lonely."

"I guess she's always been an angel."

"Vicky, you have given her more than she can ever ask for. Whenever she comes to visit, I see that huge smile on her face and I know how happy she truly is. She could never fake that smile. So stop beating yourself up about it and cheer up."

--

Vicky held Katelynn's hand as they walked through the front door. She turned around and glanced at the stars just before Vicky shut the door.

"Come on, sit down and I will get a bottle of water for you."

"Can we just go straight to the room? I wanna lay down."

"Are you going to let me carry?" Katelynn rolled her eyes before slowly walking away from him. She made it to the stairs when she felt the ground beneath her vanish. "Now, how about we go and sit in bed, we have a nice cup of hot chocolate, put a movie in and just relax."

"No marshmallows," she said whilst wrinkling her nose. Vicky gently put her down on the bed and tucked her in. "I love you, you know that right?" He nodded his head before kissing the top of her head.

"I know," he whispered. "And I swear to you I love you twice as much you love me."

"Why not three times as much?" she asked with a smirk. Vicky laughed as he straightened up.

"There is no value to how much I love you, Katelynn Angelica Fosters. There never will be because I will love you for eternity whether we are together or not. I mean that."

"Can we dance?" Vicky laughed as he shook his head. "Slow dance I mean. Like we always do."

"Honey, you can barely walk, I'm not-"

"Please?" He sighed and then helped her up. He wrapped his arms around her and leaned his chin on her shoulder as he looked through his playlist, choosing the right song. Once he selected it, he dropped it onto the bed and straightened up. "This is our song," Katelynn said with a smile on her face.

"This was what we danced to the very first time we danced," he whispered. He kissed her cheek and sighed. "Tell me that we belong together," he sang into her ear. "Dress it up with the trappings of love."

"I love you, Vicky." He smiled at her before leaning down and kissing her. He pulled her in closer and rested his head on top of hers.

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

"I'm going to make everything better," he whispered in her ear. "I promise you. I'm going to make things better for us and the kids and I'm going to sort everything out so we're all happy again. I love you so much, Angel. You and the kids mean the absolute world to me. And now we have another one coming along and she is going to have the best mother in the whole world." Katelynn looked up at him just before he slowly turned her around. He swayed to the side as he kissed her neck. "I'm done being scared of the kids. I'm going to be selfish now and think about myself. You're the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. I think you already know that. But I'll tell you however many times you want me to. I love you. And I want to be able to wake up and see you first thing in the morning, no matter how bad your hair gets. I don't want to introduce you to people as my girlfriend anymore. I want to be able to say that you're my wife. You're my other half and the mother of my children."

Vicky removed his arms from her and quickly went to his jacket pocket. He pulled out the small navy box and walked over to Katelynn who was leaning against the wall. "Vicky..."

"I swear to you, I'm not doing this because you're pregnant or what happened today, but I'm doing this because I love you and I'm ready. I have been ready for months, Angel. I even got the ring a month before you told me you were pregnant. I have been ready for such a long time to call you my wife. To know that when I looked down at my hand, I see the ring that bounds the both of us together. So Katelynn Angelica Fosters, will you do the honour of being my wife?" he asked softly as he knelt down on one knee. He opened the box but Katelynn had her focus on his eyes that held the love she saw every time he looked at her.

"I would lean off this wall and come closer but I'm scared in case I fall," she said with a laugh. Vicky stood up and carefully pulled her off the wall and sat her down on the bed. "Sorry, my legs were just weak."

"That's okay. That's why I said no dancing."

"Yeah but if we weren't dancing would you have proposed?"

"If we weren't dancing I wouldn't be a nervous wreck waiting for your answer."

"Oh! Sorry! Of course I would say yes, you idiot," she said with a laugh. "Sorry."

Vicky exhaled sharply and took the ring out the box. "I got the ring size from Melisa when we went together. That was like six months back though." He made it to her knuckle and stopped. He laughed as he looked up at her blushing face. His hand went up to her cheek and his fingers brushed against her burning skin. "It's perfectly fine. You're pregnant, honey. Your fingers have swollen up."

"I've just gone fat," she mumbled.

"Don't say that. Your fucking beautiful, you know that? So beautiful." He moved his hands to her bump and smiled. "And this bump is beautiful. Gives you one hell of a sexy ass."

"Oi!" Katelynn said with a laugh. She looked up at him and smiled. "I think we have to get the ring re-sized."

"I will. And then you can stare down at it all the time." He leaned in closer and brushed his lips against hers. "I love you."

"I love you too."
