Chapter Twenty-Nine
Euphoria
Jeon Jungkook's hair had grown past his shoulders. Yoongi kept telling him to cut it but Jungkook barely had time to eat or sleep - even less to worry about the length of his hair. Because he was close, so so close, to tracking SADA's location down.
Weeks had gone since Jimin disappeared. Weeks with no leads, the organization's base a better secret than how Jimin lost his Jams.
While SADA ran as a dance frat within colleges and a national dance organization outside of it, they were surprisingly hard to track down. Members were very secretive and only industry insiders even knew the true depth of which the organization existed. So it wasn't like Jungkook could just google "Where is SADA's base located?"
Not that he tried that - of course. Because that would be dumb. You know. Very hot boy Bella Swan vampire of him.
It's not like he typed in at least a hundred more similarly worded questions only to get nothing but sparse articles on famous people who very loosely mentioned SADA or awards that the organization had earned under very vague wording or circumstance. To anyone in the outside world, it just looked like random, fancy sounding, prestigious organization. When someone as famous as Jackson from Got7 or JYP, the singer and CEO of same named company, were mentioned as members, people were more curious about what the celebrities were saying or wearing than where they came from.
The easiest way to find out where SADA had dragged Jimin was through finding Hoseok. Someone Jungkook knew from a lifetime ago. Googling "Jung Hoseok '' didn't lead to much except for the man's accomplishments as a dance choreographer for some kpop bands around Seoul. But the articles all dated about three to four years back before leading to nothing else new.
So Jungkook branched off of google and ordered all the men loyal to him to search for Hoseok. He split apart his - he never called it a gang because selling information was a bit more 'classy' than that - but basically his gang started searching the upper class for a man that matched Hoseok's physical description, past job behaviors, and personality analysis. Yoongi had set up a coding network to pick up on any internet users who matched a data profile they'd created for him but even that led to dead ends.
Hoseok was nowhere to be found.
Jungkook was getting antsy. He didn't understand how SADA had gotten Jimin in the first place. There was no force of entry - his door and furniture were all perfectly intact. Had Jimin gone out for a walk? Had they taken him when he was outside?
Did he leave on his own?
Sleep never came to him. Jimin must be so scared right now, so confused. Kidnapped under a roof meant to protect him.
Jungkook tried not to focus on it too much. He'd spent almost each night out in Seoul. Sometimes Yoongi came with him to make sure Jungkook didn't kill anyone in his rage, but most nights it was him alone sneaking into the wealthy houses to see if they had any info. Kpop group managers knew nothing about their past choreographer just that one day he stopped showing up. The story matched each person they'd come across.
Jung Hoseok just vanished one day.
So Jungkook's hair grew and his apartment started to fall apart as finding Hoseok consumed him bit by bit each day. Hoseok would lead him to Jimin - a Jimin who didn't remember them together, but Jungkook would never be able to forget the man he loved. Jimin and him were intertwined, their souls connected in ways that the Jimin now could never understand till those memories came back.
And Jungkook wouldn't stop fighting to find him even if Jimin had left the apartment by his own free will. As much as it tore him apart to stay only friends with the love of his life, he would free Jimin from SADA. Because, at the base of it, Jimin was still his friend. And friend's have each other's back.
Even if it killed him inside. Tore at him. Burned his heart and his throat and his lungs and his body. Even if each unrecognized look in Jimin's eyes drilled holes into Jungkook's own and made him want to scream a sound so raw it could shatter glass. Even though the pain and grief of losing Jimin's memories would one day truly kill Jungkook inside, he couldn't simply leave Jimin to rot in SADA.
Jungkook was sitting on the kitchen island almost four weeks since Jimin had gone missing, analyzing the data behaviors of Choreographer Jung Hoseok from the year before he apparently fell off the face of the earth, trying to find a data profile that could hint at his current whereabouts, when Yoongi ran through his front door.
His friend and advisor wore a suit, his hair disheveled and sweat covering a panicked brow. Their eyes met and Yoongi's gaze hardened as Jungkook sat up form his chair, fingers just brushing the top of a Mickey Mouse cup.
"Boss." Yoongi said, "You'll never believe this."
Yoongi let out a breath and Jungkook snapped into action, grabbing his coat and sliding his hands through it as he allowed a rush of hope to flood his system.
"Say it. Yoongi. Say why you've come." Jungkook ordered, fixing the cuffs of his sleeves to keep his fingers from shaking
"We've been looking in all the wrong places." Yoongi started and Jungkook finally looked back up to his friend. He couldn't breathe, couldn't think, as he processed the words leaving Yoongi's lips. Hoseok. He had to have found him. Finally.
"Hoseok's not some socialite," Yoongi explained, "in fact I don't think he's in SADA at all."
"What? Then where is he?" Jungkook blinked, moving to the kitchen to grab a gun he'd hidden under there and strap a knife into his boot. Hoseok. Yoongi had found him. I need to give Yoongi a raise. Or maybe a vacation to somewhere nice. Like ihop.
"Looks like he had the same strategy as us - hide like a needle in a haystack. He's in Seoul and he's..." Yoongi frowned, a quick look of sympathy and loss clouding his usually stoic expression before looking back at Jungkook. "Well, Hoseok's homeless."
