Chapter Thirty-Six

Run To Me

At the end of the hall, talking in a hushed voice to no one else but Kim Taehyung, stood Jeon Jungkook.

Jimin launched into a full sprint after Jin allowed him to leave the main hall, tears welling in his eyes as he tore through the ground. Jungkook's eyes went wide and Jimin could see the heartbreak and love in them as he realized who it was running towards him.

Jungkook spread his arms wide and Jimin flung himself into them, getting lifted off of his feet in the process. Jungkook's hand was in his hair and Jimin's nose was up against Jungkook's neck breathing in his scent just to prove to himself that this was real. That Jungkook was real.

"I remember all of it." Jimin said through a sob, and he felt Jungkook's grip tighten around him as if to make sure Jimin was real too. "You didn't lie to me, Jungkook. We both thought Taehyung died that night. I wish I could have believed you when you first told me. I'm so sorry I ran. God, Jungkook, I'm sorry for all of it."

Jungkook choked out a sob as he pulled away and stared at the face of his beautiful fiancé. "You came back to me." Jungkook said, shaking his head.

Jimin smiled so wide that it hurt. "Always."

Taehyung coughed.

"Tae." Jimin turned from Jungkook and stared at his old friend. Truly seeing him for the first time. "Taehyung." He corrected himself, rubbing his thumb in his palm. "I don't even know how to start. I - I wish we had come back for you that night. Checked to make sure you - you know - before we'd ran so we could have gotten you out of SADA earlier. But Taehyung, we thought you had died -" Jimin shook his head, starting over, "No. I'm sorry I didn't find a different way out when Seokjin made me choose. Never in a million years did I think that he'd - that'd he meant his words literally. But we were all victims in this. I'm so sorry Taehyung."

Like cracks flaking off an old wall, Taehyung's stone cold exterior shattered and suddenly Jimin was in his arms.

"I know." Taehyung said, his whole body shaking. "I'm sorry too, Jimin. For putting you through this month and bringing you back here. It got out of hand and then suddenly you just - broke." Taehyung pulled away. "I went too far with it. I wanted to hurt you, Jimin, I'm not going to lie and say I had no hand in this whole mess, but it went too far."

"This ends tonight." Jimin spoke. "We're bringing SADA and Seokjin down tonight. All of us."

"Me too." Min Yoongi said behind them, appearing with a chicken tender in his hand and shrugged when all the boys gaped at it. "What? I got hungry."

"We need a plan." Jungkook said Taehyung was still staring at Yoongi in disbelief, but Jungkook's entire focus was on Jimin. His hands were still resting on Jimin's waist, and he kept him pressed up close as if to constantly remind himself that Jimin was really there.

The Jimin who remembered loving him. Who loved him still.

"Seokjin told me when I first got here that he had tapes of my old memories. Seeing how I didn't make a bunch of them in here, there's a good chance there's a tape of that night in SADA's basement."

Taehyung's expression dropped. "Oh Jimin," he said, pursing his lips before sighing and running a hand through his hair. "Jimin, that was a lie. There are no tapes. There never were."

"What?" Jimin said, shaking. "What. You - They put me through all of that for a fucking lie? The fucking training sessions with Seokjin? With you? I haven't eaten or slept in what feels like weeks all for a fucking lie?"

Taehyung put his hands up and shook his head. "I didn't know Jimin until last night. I wanted to bring them to you before your initiation. You kept apologizing to me without knowing why and - it started to be too much. I asked and Seokjin last night and he just grinned before dismissing me. I - Jimin I don't think there were ever any tapes to begin with."

Jimin was shaking so hard that even Jungkook's hands around him and the kiss placed on his neck couldn't calm it. "What do we do then? There has to be something, some type of evidence."

"There's a binder in Seokjin's office we could grab. It has every detail about your life, Jimin. Plans for it and what he wants you to become. He has binders like that for all of us. We could grab those and bring them to the police. It should be enough."

"Good." Jungkook said, nodding. "Then Yoongi and I will go after Seokjin to give you guys' time to sneak into his office."

"I can take care of that." Jimin said, swallowing. "He still thinks I don't remember anything. I can lure him in there so he unlocks it."

"Respectfully," Jungkook said, nuzzling his nose into Jimin's neck. His voice got low. "You are never staying in the same room with him alone. Ever. I don't care if it'd make getting that binder easier, I'd faster rip my own heart out before letting that happen."

"And to be honest, it might make things more complicated than needed." Yoongi said with food still in his mouth. "He might catch on to what you're doing and then 'boom' you're dead. It's better we split up and do this in pairs."

Jimin felt Jungkook squeeze his waist and Jimin nodded, relief blooming in his chest that he wouldn't have to face Seokjin alone.

"Okay." Jimin said, staring out at his friends. "But I need to do one thing first. It'll take less than fifteen minutes."

Jungkook furrowed his brows staring down at Jimin. "What?"

"You." Jimin answered and grabbed Jungkook by the forearm, pushing him into the closet nearby.

"You can't be serious." Yoongi said and Taehyung looked equally as shocked as they swung the door closed.

* * *

"You." Jimin breathed into Jungkook's neck. Taking in the scent of skin kissed by rain that his memories had blocked from him. Jimin wasn't his old self, he wasn't the boy before the memories were wiped or the man waking up to a life he didn't remember. He was both. And Jungkook had been his friend through both.

"You." Jimin repeated and pulled Jungkook forward by his shirt so that his lips could meet with the taller man before him. The second their lips touched Jimin felt the world underneath him start to shake.

Jungkook's hands were on Jimin's hips and Jimin could feel how his fingers shook while he held him. His breathing was staggered, and eyes shut closed as if opening them to find out he was only dreaming would be too much to bear.

Jimin placed his hands over Jungkook's and squeezed. "It's me, Jungkook. You held me up for so long, after we ran from SADA our freshmen year, after my partial amnesia, even through my time back here. Let me hold you up instead."

Jimin squeezed Jungkook's hands tighter and moved his lips to Jungkook's neck. When he brushed a kiss to the hot skin Jungkook's head shot back and his eyes flicked open, a small line of tears outlining them. He let out a sound, almost a grief like cry, as Jimin sucked the skin. His teeth gently biting, pushing his body up against Jungkook's.

"I saw you, when you walked in with Yoongi." Jimin said, lifting his hands off Jungkook's and using them to turn the younger boy's face towards his. He lifted Jungkook's chin and held it there, watching those watered eyes soak in the sight of him. "They drugged me for a month when I broke their rules."

Jungkook opened his lips, his throat tensing, veins popping in his beautiful face from the rage for what SADA had put Jimin through. Hearing they had drugged him was enough reason for Jungkook to call in every man who worked for him in Seoul's underground world and kill every SADA member in sight until the floors of this mansion were swamped in blood.

And he'd be happy to do it.

Jimin held Jungkook in place, using his knee to separate Jungkook's legs and his arm to pin the beautiful boy against the wall. "I was angry at you when I ran. Just so - confused. Why would my friend lie to me? But still I dreamt of you when that drug would hit. We'd be dancing together and you'd wipe my eyes and kiss my cheek. When I saw you walk in, I thought I was dreaming again."

Jungkook's face softened, his eyes rich in a look bearing enough love to cause the world to erupt from it. His hand, gentle and slow, cupped Jimin's cheek and it was only then that Jimin realized he'd been crying. Spools of tears coated his cheeks, leaving cold stains like streaks in a marbled wall.

"But I remember everything now." Jimin added and it was Jungkook's turn to lean in. He cupped both sides of Jimin's face and pulled him in, kissing him.

Jimin stepped back as Jungkook took over the kiss. His powerful body leaned over Jimin causing Jimin's spine to curl and brush his lower body against Jungkook's which made his fiancé let out a low growl from his throat. It was a raw sound, like forest trees cracking from lightning strikes, and both boys realized at the same time that if they didn't step out of the closet at that very moment, they might very well risk their lives just to taste every part of each other.

"When we get out of here, baby," Jungkook said, taming every muscle in his body back into a controlled stance. He stepped back, lips swollen and those golden streaked eyes blazing with a sureness that caused Jimin's heart to race, "God can't help the things that I'll do to you."

Jimin smirked, pulling himself back together and ignoring the pounding in his chest, his head, his ears, as he watched the love of his life draw his tattooed hand down Jimin's side. The touch was slow. His knuckles were delicate and Jimin suddenly felt naked under it in a way that excited him. Only Jungkook could make him unravel like this. His partner in literal crime, his fellow movie critique, his best friend. Only Jungkook.

How could he have not seen it? All those days in Jungkook's - their - apartment. The way Jungkook would look at him when he thought Jimin wasn't looking. How he made him breakfast without fail every morning. How he noticed the little things, like Jimin's clothes bothering him, and gave him space the second Jimin asked for it.

"And what things are those?" Jimin teased. Jungkook's grin turned feral as he breathed in Jimin's neck, trailing the tip of his nose down the hot skin causing Jimin's eyes to flutter close. Jungkook's hands were on Jimin's waist yet again and Jimin remembered sitting next to the man while his arm got inked up each anniversary when they escaped SADA, thinking that they'd killed Taehyung. That night isn't only your scar to bear, Jimin. We'll share it. We share the shame, the guilt, and we remember. Together. And so the tattoos started to grow. It was only a year before Jimin tattooed the eye of Jungkook's family gang onto his own skin. Jungkook's scar, his family's past, was now Jimin's to bear along with him.

"Nasty, terrible, ones. I want you crying my name. I missed hearing your beautiful voice screaming it so much."

"Why not now?" Jimin asked and Jungkook laughed, finally stepping back and heading to the door, letting the reality of the world around them soak back through.

"Now, we have a psycho to incriminate."

Jimin scowled causing Jungkook to laugh and kiss him on the temple as they stepped out to an impatient Yoongi and Taehyung who looked to be in the middle of a rock, paper, scissors match.

Taehyung wrinkled his nose. "You don't smell like sex."

"That was an insanely stupid waste of time and a risk-" Yoongi started but Jungkook just started laughing, throwing his arm over Yoongi's shoulders as if they weren't in the middle of a lion's den.

"I know, I know, lecture me when we're back home, alright? But first we have to find Seokjin."

"Second, we have to survive getting out of here." Yoongi said and suddenly the drug-like euphoria on Jungkook's face paled. He straightened his spine and nodded, throwing a long look back to Jimin and Jimin felt it like a caress down his side.

Taehyung rolled his eyes, grabbing Jimin by the arm. "I liked you better when you guys weren't eye fucking each other. Too late to hit your head again?"

"Funny." Jimin said and Taehyung snorted. While the joke was fucked up, it was shocking how nice it felt to joke with Taehyung again in the first place. So much had happened between the two of them and while their friendship could never go back to what it was before, it still felt nice, even just for a moment, to laugh with him.

Yoongi was right. The four of them might not survive taking Seokjin down but running away wasn't an option either. Not after what Jin had put them through. The four boys all gave each other one last look before nodding, splitting up into their two teams and hoping to see the other well and alive again.
