Chapter Fourty
Everything Changes
"Idiots!" A bright voice yelled, causing Jungkook to pull out of the deep, drug-induced, sleep. When he opened his eyes, he realized first that he was in a closet and second that he was tied up.
"What?" He started, looking around franticly and glad to see Yoongi was similarly waking up. Alive. They were alive.
"Do you even know what it took for me to convince them to just tie you up instead of cutting you apart?" The voice said again and Jungkook realized it was coming from the red-headed woman who was in the room with them. Her red hair was a flame against her face, pulled into a tight ponytail as he finished pushing some needle into Yoongi's arm. "These people are all fucking nuts. I mean seriously, you'd think the drugging was enough. But no, Daddy Seokjin would want them dead."
Ginny scoffed, lifting her shirt to show a thin black cable going down the front of her torso and a small band above her waist that held a couple of syringes in it. "And you two. Absolute idiots! I was so close to getting something tangible to Jin and you had to fucking get in the way." She lifted Yoongi's arm and rolled her eyes when he scowled at her. "It's solution to the drug they gave you, we've been tracking Jin for months now and saw he ordered some hard-hitting stuff, so I came prepared."
"Wait. We?" Jungkook blinked. "You're a cop?"
Ginny rolled her eyes, flashing an officers badge she had hidden away in her pocket. "Obviously and you two nearly blew my cover. We've been waiting for Jin to mess up so we can bring him in for his crimes, but everything so far has just been statements from victims of this place with no real evidence. The guy is crazy good at keeping his shit under wraps."
Jungkook coughed, sitting up and he felt his muscles ache. "How long have we been out? My -" he said with a start. Jimin. He had to get to Jimin. The sound of a gunshot boomed from somewhere in the building and Jungkook's heart raced so hard in his chest it nearly exploded out of it. Ginny looked up in equal shock, conflict drawing her brows together whether to chase after the sound or stay with the two men.
Jungkook started to work on his restraints, but Ginny pulled out a knife, pointing it at him. "Oh no you don't. I already called for backup. I don't know who you two idiots are, but you're not going anywhere exepct the police station with me."
"We can help you get Jin." Jungkook said. "Ginny. Just untie us, we can help."
Ginny bit her lip, staring daggers into Jungkook. Jungkook poured all of the heartbreak and desperation he felt at the idea of losing Jimin again into his eyes and after a moment the cops face softened. She lowered the knife.
"Fine. But don't get in my way again, understand?"
Jungkook nearly vomited from relief as he nodded. They were out of the restraints in no time, the three running towards Seokjin's office. Jungkook just hoped they wouldn't be too late.

"Hoseok?" Taehyung said, exasperated. Seokjin groaned, leg bleeding out under him and he was clutching onto his thigh with shaking fingers. Blood pooled from the ground under him and Jimin had a twisted feeling of relief at the sight of it.
"Why are you here? How?" Taehyung said, gripping the binder in his hands and Hoseok put the gun down. He looked at Taehyung softly and it caused Jimin to flush. He looked at him like Taehyung was a puppy that had glass stuck in its paw for so long it forgot how it felt to walk without it.
"I heard you guys were taking SADA down. Wanted in on the fun." Hoseok answered with a bright voice but when Jimin turned to him he realized Hoseok's expression was anything but. He looked worn, jacket tattered against him with hair a mess, and his shoulders were weighed down.
"Jimin, come on. Let's get you out of here." Hoseok said gently and something in Jimin just - broke. Time slowed around him. There was no music in this room. No chattering dancers or hungry stares. He thought about all the people downstairs, the kids stuck there, and hoped they'd run far from this place.
"Jimin." Taehyung said, concern laced deep in his voice. How long had Jimin stayed frozen, staring at Seokjin bleeding out on the floor? This always frightening, always bigger, always threatening presence, was now nothing. What was it Jimin felt while staring at him? Joy? He wasn't sure, but he knew he couldn't stop. Seokjin, the big bad mighty Seokjin, just looked weak now.
Jimin heard his name again but this time it registered. He knew that voice, knew it like he knew the music of his own heart. Without even having to turn around, he could feel that Jungkook had somehow made it to the entrance of the office. Jimin could feel him like it was Jimin's own shadow.
When Jungkook called out his name again, Jimin turned around and sobbed at the blood on his lover's face and the storm of bruises covering the rest of him. Jungkook's beautiful golden-flaked eyes softened.
"Jungkook, get them out of here." Hoseok said. "We've got to alert the cops. They'll find Seokjin stuck here with the binder and can put the rest together. Unless you forgot that you're both criminals too."
"I'll stay back." Taehyung said suddenly, swallowing. "With Jin and the binder."
"You'll what?" Jimin said, snapping his attention to Taehyung who just lowered his head. His eyes were fixed on Seokjin and the blood on the floor.
"Jimin, I - I'm a witness in this. Hoseok's right, if you and Jungkook are caught, they might see you as a victim in this, but Jungkook's family is also on the cops' shit-list. The cops need me to fully take SADA down."
"Taehyung. You'll be arrested too. You're the one who wrote the drug notes, the one who fucking kidnapped me. You were an accomplice - they won't overlook that! Run with us instead. Please, you've been hurt enough."
Taehyung was crying, Jimin realized. His friend from so long with a face that belonged to a different lifetime, smiled a traditional box-like grin. It was the type of youthful smile he might have made after winning against Jimin in a video game back in their college dorm. A tear pooled from his face, mixing with the blood from the hits he'd taken, causing the wetness of his tear to turn dark. Almost like a scar.
"You said it yourself." Taehyung shrugged. He caught Hoseok's shocked stare then, the older man shaking his head. "I'm an accomplice. I'll deal with the cops when they come. I want to do this." Taehyung said, looking at Jimin and then again at Hoseok. "You're free. All of you."
"Fuck, those are sirens out there." Min Yoongi yelled as he ran in. There was a woman at his hip, Jimin realized. She was dressed in a pledge's serving suit, her hair a storm fighting the ponytail holding it. Her green eyes blazed as her hand hugged the hilt of a knife.
"Who-"
"Go." The woman said, giving Jungkook a small nod before walking into the room, immediately commanding the space. Her officer's badge suddenly flew into her hand and Hoseok popped his lips, backing out of the room.
"We'll get you out of this, Taehyung." Hoseok said. "Me and you, we're going to build something better."
"I know." Taehyung sobbed before dropping down to his knees, putting his hands behind his back and dropping his chin as the woman started to read him his rights, slipping on a pair of handcuffs on his wrists. She side-eyed Jin's body on the ground, reaching to check his vitals, before pressing on some cord in her shirt and calling for backup into it.
"Love, come. Let's go" Jungkook's gentle voice purred into Jimin's ear. When had he walked over to him? When had his reassuring grip met Jimin's hips?
"He took everything from me." Jimin sobbed. The anger - the blinding, painful, anger started to boil over in his chest. How long was Jimin just a chess piece in Jin's sick game? How many years had he wasted running from him? Putting Jungkook in jeopardy? Jimin had given up his career, his family, and now nearly the love of his life all because of Jin. Let alone Jimin's own sanity.
His heartbeat pounded in Jimin's ears as he tore away from Jungkook's loving embrace and watched Jin's hand twitch at his side, the blood loss apparently not enough to finish him off. Would it be better to have him behind bars? Was that revenge sweet enough?
"Love-" Jungkook started, reaching for Jimin but his hand dropped when Yoongi made a grunting noise at the door, urging them to leave.
But Jimin just - he just broke - and lunged at Jin. Jimin was instantly straddling Seokjin under him, tears streaming down his face as gunshots started to echo downstairs. The cop's eyes went wide, looking over at Yoongi who had an equally bewildered expression.
"It's the Silvers." Taehyung explained. "The higher ups are more loyal to Jin. He's been missing for a while, I bet they're fighting back." He said and Jimin had an image of the older members walking with silver masks tied around their heads.
"Shit." The cop said, tearing away, probably trying to protect the innocent SADA kids stuck in the building before the backup came.
Jimin's fist flew at Seokjin's chin. Not in a graceful, dancer's arch, but a brute, powerful force that came from somewhere extremely deep within him. Seokjin's body jumped with each punch and blood pooled onto Jimin's hands. Tears stained his cheeks, hair sticking to his neck and the tatter of clothes he was in were soaked with blood and dust as he screamed in exhausted rage. Finally, when Jimin couldn't see beyond the tears and the blood and his traveling fist, he felt a hand cup his shoulder, gently pulling him from the floor.
Jimin was shaking in Jungkook's grip as the love of his life cupped his cheeks, pulling him into his chest and kissed his forehead gently.
"It's time, Jimin." He said and this time Jimin listened. Jimin nearly unraveled at the weight of the words. Taehyung was in handcuffs, Seokjin clearly not going anywhere any time as soon as he was beaten on the ground, evidence of his crimes all around him. Cops were swarming the building, their yells now echoing through the halls, and Jimin knew Jungkook was right. They had to go, now, because the rest of the world was waiting for them.
So Jimin took Jungkook's hand, just as he did all those years ago. He gave one last look at Seokjin, a nod towards Taehyung, than ran with Jungkook towards a future that was just for them. A brighter one. One without SADA or monsters or crushing guilt. Hoseok followed, a promise to come back for Taehyung on his lips, and Yoongi wordlessly at the back.
The dancers in masks were a blur as the group snuck out, arching past the cops too focused on getting straight to Jin's office to care about them. The second the fresh air hit Jimin's lungs, he collapsed down to the ground with a sob. Jungkook reached for him, cupping his cheek, and Jimin wrapped his arms around Jungkook's neck, pulling him into a desperate, hungry kiss. One that promised something SADA failed to destroy: a future.
* * *
Jimin and Jungkook rode quietly in the car, driving to Busan six months after the events of SADA's initiation. Jungkook's hand was on Jimin's thigh, just as it always was when they drove together, and Jimin was playing with which playlist to listen to, trying to choose which song Jungkook would like the most, just as he always did.
Yoongi was frowning in the back of the car, mumbling that he should be the one driving and instead he was packed in the back like he was the couple's three-year-old child.
Jimin had laughed at that, looking down at the matching set of silver bands that were on both his and Jungkook's fingers. They'd gotten married the month after Seokjin's imprisonment hit the news. Apparently, the cops were well aware of the going-ons of the organization but hadn't gotten enough concrete evidence to lock-him up until Jimin had helped them out with the binder. Matched with Taehyung's testimony and even Hoseok's approach, it was an easy case to win.
The shocking part was that Seokjin had confessed to all of it. Jungkook's new cop friend, who Jimin had learned was named Ginny, said Jin practically bragged about it.
Which left Jimin and Jungkook with something they'd lived six years without - time. Time to choose a new place together, time to get married, to love one another. Just time to be. Jimin even hoped to go back to his family, given the chance. Maybe when things settled down more, he could explain why he had to run all those years ago.
The car pulled into an empty parking lot by a massive forest of trees and Jimin felt his heart stop as the SADA mansion loomed in front of them. Jungkook gave Jimin's thigh another squeeze and Yoongi sighed as the three men filed out of the car.
Hoseok waved as he pulled in with a separate car, Taehyung smiling in the passenger seat. For the amount of help Taehyung had been to the authorities, they'd given him complete immunity as long as he shared every incriminating detail of Seokjin's career.
Jimin waved at him and Taehyung smiled. Their friendship was still incredibly rocky. Their meetings together were usually brief, but Jimin didn't feel like everything was entirely hopeless either. Despite everything, wasn't Taehyung a victim in all of this too? It would take Jimin a very long time to fully come to terms with the extent of Taehyung's role in Jimin's own trauma, but the situation was an incredibly messy one, and now he had the freedom of time to figure out where that placed him with his old friend.
Jungkook's hand was on Jimin's lower back and Jimin grinned so wide it hurt.
"I love you." Jimin said and Jungkook beamed like a little kid, just as he always did whenever Jimin said the words. It was one of Jimin's favorite sights, how bewildered Jungkook got when he heard them.
"Ready?" Hoseok asked, raising a gallon of gasoline and Yoongi took out a box of explosives from the back of Jungkook's car.
"More than ever." Jimin smiled and Taehyung echoed the sentiment, lingering near Hoseok as the group walked up to the mansion that had cast a shadow over the entire course of their lives. Hoseok walked in first, starting to spread the gasoline in the middle of the ballroom, while Yoongi and Jungkook placed the explosives around it.
Jimin swallowed. It looked so different now. The place was completely abandoned, SADA dismantled without their leader.
"Weird to see it during the day, huh?" Taehyung said, standing next to Jimin who nodded.
"Yea, it doesn't seem as -"
"Grand?"
Jimin gave a small smile, shaking his head. The sun pooled through the massive windows, cascading the marble floor in beautiful golden light. With no one running through the halls, the place almost felt like a museum. A relic, of sorts.
Jungkook came up to Jimin's opposite side then and Hoseok dragged the gasoline so it pooled from the explosives all the way to the front door where they could light it together.
"Ready?" Hoseok asked. He waited till Yoongi was safely on the other side of the door who gave him a short nod of approval. The two had tried to rekindle whatever had been between them in the past, but it seemed even Yoongi was in need of a new start as well.
"To freedom." Jungkook said, handing Jimin a lighter.
"To freedom." Jimin echoed, pulling Jungkook to him by bawling up the fabric of his shirt. He dropped the lighter, kissing the love of his life, as the SADA mansion got swallowed up in flames before them.

A/N:
Since its the finale and it's been a while, I made sure to make this one wordy hehe <3
I hope you guy had fun on this fucking wild ride of a fic!! Thank you for spending the time reading it, for all of the comments, and support. I still remember when I had originally started writing this story, the outline nearly a year and a half old, and it feels so strange to be on the opposite side of it. This one was super experimental for me, so I hope it wrapped up well in the end!
- Let's fight the world together,
