A few hours before ( time preeta committed suicide)

There were three people on the othe side of the bridge. And as soon as one saw what Preeta was about to do.

He shouted "miss what are you doing?"

And that's when others also turned and looked at Preeta. There was a lot of panick going on both from their side and Preeta's was.

" Oh men, this is scaring, I've never seen someone commit suicide, you think she's gonna jump? that water right there runs so fast and does any of you know who she is?"one of the guys asked

But before another one could say anythingthing  they saw Preeta fall into the water and one of their friends acted on instinct as he also fell into the water to save her.

"Dave!! Dave, what the hell? He can't do this? What if something happens to him what are we gonna tell his family".

"Shiv, he dived in to save that girl"

"A girl, he doesn't know, what if he doesn't find her and he ends up drowning and dying?"

"Dave is a good swimmer and diver; am sure he will save her".

"Your right he good at swimming but this isn't a swimmiung pool. This water runs so fast with strong waves and on top of that there are big rocks in there ,  what if he hits his head on one of the rocks? why do you think this water is considered dangerous? " Shiv answered worriedly.

Andy had nothing to say because he knew it was  dangerous but what could he have done? he only hoped that Dave is okay and is able to save the girl.

For Dave, diving into that water unexpectedly had brought up a memory perhaps he will never forget. When he was seven years old one of his sisters who was only four at the time fell in the swimming pool and wasn't saved. He blamed himself for her death. And since then he promised to become the best swimmer and be able to save others. Preeta wasn't the only one he has saved.

So he swarm as first as he could to save her. He tried to find her but couldn't and the water was running so fast. He swarm and even went deep but he saw nothing. He came up to get some air as he  continued to look for her. He then turned left which was the most dangerous area because it had rocks and waves were so heavy; he prayed to all the Gods of the earth to help him save her and God willingly he did get to her but was lifeless. He caught her and brought her to the shores and tried walking her up. He tried CPR but nothing and he couldn't even hear her heart beat. So tried so heard but it wasn't working. He couldn't believe what was happening. The worst thing is that he was far from the place they fell off from and didn't  have his phone to call an ambulance. He called for help and luckily for him there were people who helped them get to the hospital.

At first, he was ready to give up and accept that maybe she's dead but when he stared at her face for long he realized that she seemed familiar though couldn't remember where exactly he knew her from. He thought maybe he knew her from his sister hence he called for help.

On the side, Shiv and Andy become worried because it was late and they weren't seeing him or getting a call from him.

"What should we do?, it's late. We need to inform the police as soon as possible" Andy said worriedly.

"What are we gonna tell them? That our friend fell into the water and we didn't tell them immediately?"

"Yes,what's wrong with that?"

"They will arrest us?"

"For what?"

"Dont you see the danger in this?, we let someone go into that water even though it's not allowed"

"He was saving someone and am sure the police are aware of that girl. He was only helping. So we have to inform the police before its too late".

"Okay let's go but it's you to talk".

They left for police station and hoped that everything turns out well.

When they reached the police station, they informed the police officer who scolded them for not reporting to them in time.

"No one has ever survived that water, now we have two dead bodies to look for tommorow. What was he thinking?"  the police officer shouted

"He was trying to help" Andy told him

"Helping my ass. No one is supposed to go there, if your friend comes back am going to arrest him for trespass"

As they were still arguing with the police officer, Andy got a call.

"Hello"

"Andy, it's me Dave"

"Dave!! Where the hell are you? , you got us so worried. What happened? "

"Am at the the hospital, come find me there but first go to the hotel and get me my credit card".

"Okay but did you.... and as he was trying to ask about the girl Dave  switched him off however that was after giving him the address of the hospital he was at.

"What happened? , is he okay? And what about that girl?"

"I don't know what happened, he didn't say anything so I don't know if he or the girl are fine, he only told us to meet him at the hospital and take his credit card".

They informed the police about Dave and the girl. The officers went to the hospital to get a statement .

Due to traffic the police reached almost after four hours and got a statement from Dave

"I haven't gotten a word from the doctors, so I don't know what state she's in" Dave told them

"Sir, we have to inform her family"

"I know that and young man  he then turned to Dave and scolded him for being reckless and careless  and how he could've died"

"But I didn't ".

"Of you didn't but next time don't do it, otherwise I will arrest you"

"Yes sir".

The senior police officer then ordered one of his men to go and inform Preeta's family about the new development.

Dave and senior police officer remained behind and waited for the doctor to come and inform them about Preeta's health.
Every time the doctors delayed to meet them only made Dave nervous and scared. He didn't want his efforts to go in vain but every second scared him. And besides he wanted to know who the lady is he had saved because she seemed familiar .

His friends reached the hospital and were very happy to see that he was okay.

"Man you scared us there for a bit. If something bad had happened, I don't know how we could've told your family about it".

"Am good, the one am worried about is the lady I came with. The doctors haven't told us anything and I can't go without knowing what condition she's in".

"Your showing so much care for this girl. What's the deal?" Shiv asked jokingly

"Its not what you think, I got a girlfriend whom am committed to and love very much however this girl seems familiar; I wanna know where I know her from".

"If you say so. And have you met her family members?"

"Not yet.  The inspector sent one of his men to fetch them, am sure they will be here soon".

"Do you know why she tried to take her "

"No"

As they were still talking, the inspector came to Dave informing him of a new case that he must attend to and asked him to inform him of any new developments since this is a suicide case, and they must write a formal report about it.

Just as the inspector had left, Shrishti and Jhanki came in and went straight to reception asking for information about her sister. They were told to wait.

Preeta's grandmother stayed back, it was only Shrishti and Jhanki who came. They got where to sit and waited nervously and impatiently.

One of Dave's friend saw them enter the hospital  with the police officer and asked Dave if he thinks those are her relatives. He turned to look at them and answered
"Maybe"

The more he stared at Shrishti, the more he realised that he knew her. He then remembered when they were kids and how close they were. The six of them, his twin sister, Shrishti, Sam, Sophia, Preeta and himself. They went to the same school when they kids but after his young sister's death, his family moved to Delhi. He got tears in his eyes because he couldn't believe that he was seeing Shrishti.

"Hey man, what's wrong?"

"I know her" he said pointing at Shrishti emotionally

"And now i think i know who is in there ", he continued to say pointing where Preeta was taken.

He excused himself and went where Shrishti was.

"Shrishti?", he called slowly

Shrishti turned to see who was calling her but couldn't recognize her so he introduced himself.

"It's me Dave Siddiqui, Zoya Siddiui's brother"

She recognised the name but not the person. Dave explained to her how he knew her and Shrishti too got memories.

"Is it really you?" She questioned.

"Yes it's me". He hugged her tightly and heard her start sobbing.

"Its gonna be okay" he told her.

He held her closely as he cried as well. He was also shocked the girl he just saved is Preeta Arora.

They let go of each other as the doctor approached them. He looked so tired yet so tensed at the same time.

"Doctor, how is my sister doing?"

"We did everything we could but the damage had already been done"

"Doctor please"

"She suffered from hypoxia" the doctor said

"What does that mean?"

"When she drowned, she stopped breathing because she wasn't receiving oxygen to her brain and this caused some of her organs to stop functioning ".

"What's next now?" Dave asked nervously.

"For now, we've put her on life support and we are going to  monitor her  for a few days, however you have to decide if this is what you what for her. As a doctor my opinion is that we tried and now  everything is in God's hands. And am very sorry"

Shrishti, Dave and his friends were shocked about the news.

"Doctor, how's the baby?" Shrisht asked

"She hasn't lost it but if she doesn't stabilise, she may lose it"

When the police officer told Shrishti that her sister has been found and is at the hospital, she was happy and hoped for great news but now the news are disappointing because Preeta is practically dead and only a miracle can save her. She excused herself and went church to pray to God so He performs and heal her sister. She doesn't wanna lose her, she can't function without her. Preeta is her life. Dave went with her living Aunt Jhanki and his friends behind. But his friends went back to the hotel and Jhanki remained alone.

They prayed and then came back however the doctors declined them from going to see Preeta in I.C.U where she was put. So they decided to sit back and wait.

"What happened? , why did she do this?", Dave asked softly

" It's a long story"

" I've got all the time".

So Shrishti told him everything and Dave was so pissed, angry and sad at the same time.

"Am so sorry about your mother, I didn't know her but I heard great things about her from Zoya. And poor Preeta, I can't believe someone would ruin a sweet and lovely person like her; I know her as someone who is very honest, kind and caring. I know she's gonna get better and I will be here if you guys need anything. I think I have to tell Zoya about this".

As Dave went to tell Zoya about what he had found out, Shtishti too called Sophia and told her about Preeta. Sophia promised to be there first thing in the morning.

Note:

Dave is going to be very significant in this story. And I can't wait for it.😀

This chapter has come late however I will have my next chapter on Saturday or Sunday uploaded.
