Chapter 20
PART TWO: VENOM'S WHISPER
Stepping out of the sleek black car, you adjusted your blindfold and made your way toward the towering Life Foundation building. The rain from earlier had left the air crisp, carrying the faint scent of damp concrete. Your sharp senses picked up a commotion ahead—guards barking orders and a familiar figure being shoved toward the exit.
Eddie Brock.
Disheveled, desperate, and bristling with defiance as he argued with the security team.
A small smile played on your lips.
Looks like we found ourselves a little toy.
As you approached, the guards turned their focus on you.
"Ma'am, this is a restricted—"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy." You waved a dismissive hand, your voice calm but commanding. "He's with me."
The guards hesitated.
"You heard me. Stand down." You smiled, the kind of smile that said you weren't someone to argue with. "I'll take care of him."
Eddie glanced at you, confused but intrigued, as you nudged him away from the building. The guards reluctantly backed off, though their suspicious gazes followed you both as you walked down the street.
"Who the hell are you?" Eddie muttered once you were out of earshot. "And why are you helping me?"
You cocked your head, your expression amused. "Oh, come on. Don't tell me you don't know who I am."
Eddie frowned. "Should I?"
"I'm Ms. Gojo," you said casually. "You may have heard of my brother, Satoru Gojo."
Eddie blinked. "Wait. You're related to that... sorcerer guy?"
You laughed. "The best sorcerer. But he's not just some guy, and he's definitely not the apprentice of the Sorcerer Supreme."
A passing scientist paused. "Wait—he's not?"
You chuckled. "Oh, no. My brother's a lot better than the Sorcerer Supreme. Wizards do spells. My brother's a sorcerer. There's a difference."
Turning back to Eddie, you nudged him again. "Anyway, come on, lad. We need to talk."
Once you were far enough from prying eyes, you lowered your voice. "You need to stop getting yourself in trouble, Eddie."
Eddie's frown deepened. "How do you know my name?"
Your expression softened. "Your scent gave you away. That, and I have files on you."
"Files?" Eddie's eyes widened. "What kind of files? How?"
You waved off his questions. "Can I help you? Yes. But it's not just about helping—it's about recruiting. I want to make you an Avenger."
Eddie froze. "An Avenger? You're kidding, right? I... I can't. I'm dangerous. I'll kill people."
You smiled, a glint of mischief in your blindfold-covered eyes. "Eddie... I could kill people every day. But I don't. It's called self-control."
Suddenly, a dark shape slithered up Eddie's shoulder, revealing Venom's jagged grin.
"Self-control? Why would we want that?" Venom hissed, his voice gravelly and amused.
You tilted your head, unfazed. "Well, you want Eddie to be able to live among people, don't you? He needs a life, Venom."
Venom narrowed his eyes. "And how do you know my name?"
"Because I've been watching you." Your smile deepened. "S.H.I.E.L.D. has been watching you both for a long time."
Eddie groaned. "Well, that's flattering."
"Think of it this way," you continued. "I'll take you to Nick Fury. He'll investigate you, make sure you're not a threat. And no, you don't get to eat him," you added with a pointed look at Venom.
Venom pouted. "What if we get hungry?"
"No." You smirked. "But he might let you tear apart some life-model decoys."
Venom's grin returned. "Now you're talking."
Eddie sighed. "Okay, okay. Fine. But no promises."
"Good." You gave them both a nod. "I'll see you at the compound."
As you walked back to your car, you pulled out your phone. Nick Fury's voice crackled through the line.
"Gojo?"
You rolled your eyes. "Don't call me that. That's my brother's name. Call me Y/N."
Fury chuckled. "Fine, Y/N. What's the update?"
"I've got them. Eddie and Venom are coming in."
"Good work. I'll see you at the compound."
You ended the call, slid into the driver's seat, and glanced at your reflection in the rearview mirror.
Things are about to get interesting.
With a satisfied smile, you drove off into the night.
SCENEBREAIK
The compound hummed with quiet anticipation as you strode through its familiar halls. Your steps were measured, purposeful, as you approached the conference room. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers stood waiting just outside, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Are you both here to watch?" you asked, tilting your head slightly.
Tony offered a playful wink. "Of course. We care about you too much to let you handle this alone."
You chuckled, though your tone was sharp. "Or you're both here to make sure I'm not alone with a murderer."
Steve crossed his arms, his gaze steady. "Venom is a murderer. He's killed a whole section of police officers."
Your eyes narrowed. "So have a lot of people in this line of work. Does that make all of us murderers?"
Tony raised a brow. "There's a difference."
You stepped closer, your voice dropping to a low growl. "Is there? Because by that logic, I'm a murderer too. I've taken down entire squads of people. My brother, Satoru, has killed countless enemies. And guess what? You two aren't innocent either. You've both taken lives."
"That's different," Steve said calmly. "They were bad guys."
You folded your arms, your piercing gaze locked on them both. "So were the people Eddie and Venom took out. And yet, here we are."
Without waiting for a response, you turned and walked toward the interrogation room, where Nick Fury was already deep in conversation with Eddie Brock.
-
The room was dim, lit by a single overhead light that cast long shadows. Eddie sat in the middle, arms crossed, his posture defensive but not hostile. His eyes flicked toward you as you entered, and a flicker of relief crossed his face.
"Glad you're here," Eddie muttered, offering a small smile.
You returned the smile and turned to Fury. "How's it going?"
Nick leaned back in his chair, arms resting on the table. "He's a smart guy," Fury admitted. "Resourceful. We can use someone like him."
You raised a brow. "But?"
"But I'm not putting him in the Avengers."
Your jaw tightened. "That was our deal, Director."
Fury shrugged, his gaze unwavering. "It's too dangerous. He and the symbiote are unpredictable. I'll find a place for him—a specialized team with people who can handle him—but he's not joining the Avengers."
You leaned on the table, your elbows resting on the surface, locking eyes with Fury. "Eddie needs this. He needs a life. A purpose."
Eddie reached out and gently poked your shoulder. "Hey, it's fine. I don't need to be an Avenger. As long as I've got a place to stay, a roof over my head... that's enough for me."
A deep, gravelly voice echoed through the room, causing everyone to tense.
"And food."
Venom emerged from Eddie's shoulder, his teeth bared in a toothy grin.
"We need lots of food."
You chuckled, completely unfazed by the alien creature. "That, I can help with. I'll even hunt for you sometimes."
Venom tilted his head, curious. "How?"
You smirked. "I have my ways."
Eddie shook his head, still baffled by how comfortable you were with Venom. "Wait—you hunt? Like, actual hunting?"
You just gave a mysterious smile. "Let's just say I've got some skills."
Fury sighed, rubbing his temples. "Fine. He's in. But on one condition—you're responsible for him."
Eddie spread his hands. "I'm not a dog."
You laughed and nudged him playfully. "No, you're not. But you are a friend. And now? You're mine."
Eddie blinked, caught off guard by your words, his expression softening. "Thanks... I guess."
Standing, you grabbed his shoulder and gave him a gentle push toward the door. "Come on. Let's go meet your new teammates."
As you both walked out, Venom muttered, "I don't trust them."
You grinned. "Neither do I. But that's what makes it fun."
Eddie chuckled, shaking his head. "You're something else, you know that?"
"Damn right I am."
