The Truth Revealed
Third Person POV
"Alright, Potter, what were you doing in the forest today?" Percy asked calmly.
"I wasn't there." Harry replied.
The cages next to Reyna rattled, drawing the attention of most of the people watching.
"Oi! What's in them cages?" A Ravenclaw boy asked loudly.
"If Potter is unhelpful, you'll find out." Reyna replied.
"We have witnesses that say you were." Percy persisted.
Harry shook his head. "Not possible." His legs were shaking slightly, but with the chains wrapping him to the chair, no one really noticed.
Percy turned to the audience. "Do either of you mind if I reveal who you were?"
When he got two head shakes from the girls, he turned back to Harry. "The Patils saw you. You can't deny this one."
"Okay, fine, I was in the forest. But I wasn't doing anything. I was just walking."
"Pretty long hike down for a stroll." Reyna commented dryly.
"I like the exercise."
"Says the boy who can barely keep up in my Defense Against the Dark Arts." Percy was again radiating barely restrained anger. He was not in the mood for this.
"You push us too hard." Harry retorted.
"Ginny can keep up. So can Hermione and Draco most of the kids in the class." Percy growled.
"So you weren't in the forest for the exercise, we know that. Why were you down there?"
"Why does it matter?"
"Because someone is missing!" Percy roared. "Because you could become an accomplice in a murder if we don't find her before the sun's up! Because if you don't I'm going beat you so hard that-"
"He gets it Percy." Reyna said.
"He'd better."
"I had nothing to do with this." Harry insisted again. The cages rattled loudly and one or two people made sounds of surprise as low growls came from them.
"You're lying." Percy glared at the wizard.
"You can't prove that!"
"Oh yes, I certainly can." An evil grin flitted across Percy's face. "Would you like me to prove it?"
Harry blanched a little, not knowing what the demigod was talking about.
"Reyna, I'm trusting you to keep them in line unless you feel the need to let them loose."
"I always keep them in check." The Latina cocked a hip and glared at Percy.
"You know what I mean."
"Yes, I do."
As Reyna reached for the latches of the cage, a girl shouted, "Are those dangerous?"
"Only if I choose them to be. I have complete control over them."
"What are they?" A boy shouted.
"Meet Aurum and Argentum." Two metal greyhounds, one gold and one silver, prowled out of the cages and sat on either side of Reyna, their eyes fixed on Harry as they growled softly. "They're lie detectors."
"And if Reyna gives them permission, they'll rip your head off." Percy said nonchalantly.
Several people began protesting loudly in the crowd.
"Enough!" Reyna yelled. Accustomed to shouting over the chaos in the Senate or when addressing the cohorts in New Rome, her voice carried easily over the cacophony of noise, shutting everyone up.
"Potter made a mistake today, he better confess to it or it will get ugly. We protect our own. Would you not do the same?"
The outraged protests turned to unsure murmurs.
"That's what I thought. Continue, Percy."
"Potter, do you know where my girlfriend is?"
Harry hesitated, and the dogs inched towards him, growling. Reyna's hands on their backs were the only thing stopping them from advancing more.
"I do." He finally said in a voice barely more than a whisper.
The hall was silent at this confession.
"Where is she?" Percy asked. He was shaking, and Piper and Jason inched forward, knowing he could explode at any moment.
"I don't know."
Aurum and Argentum growled and Harry frantically elaborated.
"She's in the Forest, I just don't know where!"
"How do you not know where? You took her out there, didn't you?"
"Yeah, but I left her with someone else."
"Who?" Reyna pressed.
"The guy...I made a deal, okay? One of you for Voldemort's betrayal. Maybe without his forces, this Kronos guy will leave us a-"
"Are you insane? Kronos doesn't just 'leave people alone'!" Percy snarled. "He used you, Potter. Voldemort's as alive as ever, I guarantee that."
"Did he swear?" Piper suddenly asked.
"What?" Harry frowned, confused, but Percy seemed to understand.
"Did he swear on the Styx? In those exact words?"
"No..."
"Then Voldemort is surely alive." Reyna said simply.
"You truly are an idiot, Harry Potter." Percy marched off the stage.
"Jackson, don't you dare go running in there without any help!" Reyna shouted.
"I can't wait for much longer! They'll kill her at dawn, I'm sure of it!"
"How about you wait ten minutes." A voice none of the wizards had heard before said.
Percy whirled to stare at the Iris Message in front of him. "Grover?"
