Personality and Picking Outfits

Third Person POV

"Ready?" Aphrodite called excitedly.

"I guess." Leila answered.

"Well, let's see it then!"

The daughter of Ceres took a deep breath and stepped out so her audience could give their input.

"Suits you." Reyna said calmly.

"It really brings out your skin tone." Piper commented, then flushed red. "Uh, normally I wouldn't say that...Mom!"

Aphrodite giggled.

"You look great, Leila." Neville smiled. Leila nodded. The only approval she really needed was a look in the mirror. Her straight black hair was in a bun on the back of her head, with chopsticks holding it. Her dress was a green kimono style design with pink flowers. She wore plain black flat slippers.

"I like it." She decided.

"Good!" Aphrodite cooed, snapping her fingers. The daughter of Ceres was back in her regular clothes and a mannequin appeared at the side, the outfit waiting for the night to come.

"Let's go, Miss Arellano." Reyna's head shot up.

"Me?"

"Yes." Aphrodite's features changed slightly, becoming more angled. "Let's go, daughter of Rome."

Reyna stood and followed Venus behind the screen. There were a few moments of hushed talking and lights changing color, then the goddess stepped into view.

"Take your time."

After another short period, Reyna's voice sounded. "I'm ready."

The daughter of Bellona stood proud in the royal purple dress she was given. A golden cape hung from the one shouldered gown, attaching to the back behind her other shoulder. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail, versus it's normal braid, and the curls cascaded down her back to a few inches below the bottoms of her shoulder blades.

"Like a true praetor." Annabeth smiled. Reyna checked herself in the mirror, then frowned.

"Something's not quite right."

Venus pondered this, then waved her hand. Reyna dropped about two inches as the heels she had been wearing changed to golden sandals.

"That's better." Piper voiced the goddess and demigod's thoughts.

"How come you didn't change for me?" Leila asked as Venus sent the outfit to a second mannequin and Reyna sat down.

"You aren't as connected to Rome, you're still stretching yourself home. I didn't need to dig into the Roman culture to find something for your outfit." Venus explained.

"I want to go next!" Lauren stood up.

The goddess of love examined her for a moment, then switched back to her Greek form, which she seemed to prefer, if the smile on her face was any indication.

Or maybe that was just excitement that she got to do this.

"Right this way."

Behind the screen, there was silence for a few moments before Lauren began declaring her opinion.

"Too long. I'll trip."

"Too short! I may only be five feet tall, but that's not okay."

"Not eye catching enough. People will trip over me if I wear that! They won't even see me standing there until they hit me!"

Leo stifled a chuckle.

"Ooh, that one's good." Lauren finally decided on a bright yellow dress that went to her ankles. Aphrodite paired it with a shawl and black heels that matched the lace on the bodice. Lauren's brown hair was left down, draping across her shoulders.

Her outfit soon resided on a mannequin, Mitch's sunset colored dress and white open-toed heels soon following it.

Ginny wanted something eye-catching as well, and settled on a pale mint colored dress that was short and had a train attached at the waist. She opted for black flats, insisting that she was planning on taking them off anyway, and a necklace with a silver cloverleaf on it.

Aphrodite decided on a silver dress for Hermione, arguing that the daughter of Athena needed to remove her colored contacts for at least one night. The rest of the group joined in the pleading and Hermione finally relented, flipping her magically straightened hair away from the delicate necklace designed like an olive branch that rested on her neck.

"Now, we're almost to the couples. Thalia, I know you and Clarisse don't want dresses, so we'll make a compromise. I think you two will find some outfits that we can both agree on back there."

Curiously, the daughters of Zeus and Ares stepped behind the screen.

"Okay, I can deal with this." Thalia sounded excited.

Her outfit turned out to be a pair of silver jeans and a matching silver jacket with a black tank top under it. She had studded combat boots and a bracelet with a lightning bolt charm hanging from it.

Clarisse's was even less dress-like. Wearing a t-shirt with a printed image of a tuxedo and ripped skinny jeans tucked into black boots, she would most likely be the most casual person at the ball, and she seemed to like that idea.

"Conner and Travis, your father suggested something and I suppose I shall allow it." Aphrodite ushered the sons of Hermes behind the screen.

Travis came out first, wearing black slacks and shoes with a white button down and a matching checkered vest and bowtie.

Conner was wearing the same thing and immediately a riot of protests broke out.

Aidan's voice rose over the commotion. "Nice."

Aphrodite waved away the requests to make the boys change and ushered Emmy behind the curtain.

When the redheaded daughter of Apollo appeared again, she was wearing a dress that was the exact color of her hair. Thick black beads hung at her neck and wrists, and her black shoes matched them, and the orange dress showed off her hips well while giving a peek of her leg through a slit in the outer skirt that ran up to her hip.

Aphrodite quickly dressed Nico, the last single person in the room, in black and turned to the couples with a grin.

"Now comes the fun part. Annabeth."

The daughter of Athena stood uncertainly. "Don't you want Percy to come too, since couples are supposed to match?"

"What gave you that absurd idea?" Aphrodite frowned, truly confused by the question. "Couples do not need to match. In fact, the outfit should be a reflection of the person themself, not that they have a date. The corsage does that."

Annabeth looked slightly surprised, but Piper grinned. "Yeah, Mom!"

"Come now, Annabeth. Oh how I wish your mother would let me do this sometimes."

Soon the daughter of Athena was in a blue and white sleeveless dress that stretched to her feet. She was grinning from ear to ear down at her shoes, which had intricate silver owls on them.

"It's perfect." Percy said loudly. Annabeth blushed slightly at him.

"Your turn, Jackson." Aphrodite told him as Annabeth's outfit appeared on a female mannequin that had a male mannequin with it's arm around her waist next to it.

After a few moments of consideration and flashes of color, Aphrodite and Annabeth had decided on a teal vest and bowtie with a black suit. The goddess had wanted to change Percy's hair too, but the son of Poseidon had forbade it.

Piper ended up in a dress that had aquas and greens running through it with tan flats and silver and turquoise jewlery. Jason's dark blue suit appeared on their joint mannequin next to his girlfriend's outfit.

Frank went next, receiving a simple black tuxedo that he seemed to like, then tiny little Hazel stood up to be dressed.

"Oh, aren't you just adorable!" Aphrodite cooed.

"Mom, she's not a doll." Piper said.

"Oh, of course."

There was a flash when Hazel's dress appeared, since it reflected light.

The daughter of Pluto was in a gold dress that flared out just below her knees. Jewels studded her collar and there was a second, sheer looking cover to the back of the dress that started at her shoulder blades. Her shoes were made from delicate gold spirals and her wild curly hair had been pulled into a french braid.

Frank went red staring at her and Aphrodite took this as a yes.

Hazel fanned herself slightly as she went to sit down with her boyfriend again.

Calypso picked a light yellow dress that flared out in the back while only reaching her knees in the front. Her sandals matched the outfit perfectly. Leo's red blazer set off his girlfriend's outfit well.

Gwen ended up with a simple purplish maroon dress and silver shoes. Dakota had a wine colored jacket and bowtie. The bottom corners of his bowtie were gilded and glittered in the light. Aphrodite also cast a small spell to make the son of Bacchus' lips look like a normal hue.

Maggie's dress sort of resembled a dancer's, with halter straps and wraparound looking skirt that frilled and flared at the bottom hem. She chose black shoes and a green beaded necklace that matched Aidan's light green bowtie and vest. The son of Mercury insisted on a houndstooth jacket that had an optical illusion look to it. He explained that it was so that people would be so focused on his clothes that they wouldn't notice their pockets get lighter. The Stolls cheered at this and Maggie scowled at him.

"You will do no such thing, Donnell!"

Aphrodite turned to Martha, quickly providing her with a light yellow strapless dress that fell simply to the floor and covered white sandaled heels. Martha refused to take off the sun necklace that hung around her neck, but it matched the dress so the goddess let it go. Draco's suit ended up half black half white, with a white jacket and shirt but black pants and bowtie. Percy teased him about being such a ladykiller and jokingly told him that he couldn't have Annabeth back. The daughter of Athena rolled her eyes.

"Last two." Aphrodite turned to Luna and Neville. "Mr. Longbottom."

Neville stood nervously, but was easily fitted with a simple black tuxedo. "I know you don't like flashy." Aphrodite told him.

"Thank you, my lady."

Aphrodite nodded and turned to Luna, who was running her fingers through her curls, then stopped. "How did you do that?"

Everyone turned to the daughter of Iris, expressing shock and surprise when they saw her hair.

A myriad of colors stretched through the white-blonde locks, shimmering in the light.

"What?" Luna asked. Catching sight of herself in the mirror, she let out a little 'oh' of surprise, then shrugged. "Must be from my mum. I was just thinking about what colors my dress could be."

Aphrodite's eyes lit up. "Speaking of, I've got an idea for your dress, would you come here?"

Luna stepped behind the screen and the demigods heard excited whispering for a few seconds.

When she stepped into view again, jaws dropped.

Luna was wearing a beautiful strapless dress. Starting out black, halfway down the skirt it changed into a beautiful mix of pinks and purples before ending in white. Her hair was the same way, without the black, purple and pink streaks lacing through her curls, which were pinned back tightly on the left side so they all cascaded down her right shoulder.

"That's wickedly cool." Ginny finally said.

Luna smiled brightly. "Yes, I rather like it."

They all looked over at the mannequins as Luna's outfit flickered into existence next to Neville's.

Aphrodite smiled. "Well, you're ready clothing wise."

Percy turned to the others. "Let's just hope nothing goes wrong."

[A/N that was really long. Don't jinx it Percy! Please comment on what you think of the outfits! Hope you enjoyed!]
