Chapter 23: Kitagawa Daichi Times

Sugimoto and Kajiwara were classmates ever since their first year in middle school. Attending a prestigious private school was new for Shinobu since her previous grade school was a public one.

During her first day, she didn't really have any friends to talk to, and she had hard time even speaking to her own classmates. For the whole week, she ate lunch by herself, even walk home alone. It made her kinda miss her two childhood friends, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima.

Right after the graduation in 6th grade, she still had contacted with them, and were the only friends she had right before she met her best friend, Hisano.

"What're you doing here again, Shinobu?" Kei glanced at the girl in pigtails, lying on his bed, on a daily visit at their house. She liked coming over right after she finished homework. And the Tsukishima household is warmly open to her; well except for its youngest member.

"Well, Oka-san is busy at the flower shop again so I've got no one to talk to at home." Shinobu sat from his bed, looking at the frown on his face. "Besides, even though we're not classmates anymore, I get to see you every day. Isn't it nice?" she grinned, her cheeks blooming rosy red.

Tsukishima clicked his tongue, turning back to his desk, reading a magazine. "It's not when you've got someone to annoy you all the time." He snarled, with a very stingy tone. The girl was used to it by now, so she was unaffected.

"Ne, Kei. Will you come with me to that café near the station? I heard they got very delicious sweets there." Kajiwara clung onto his arm, continuously bugging him to accompany her to a café shop.

He coldly refused to, and brushed her off. "Why don't you take one of your friends there instead of me? I'm pretty sure—-"

"But you and Tadashin are the only friends I have!" she pouted, latching on his arm once more. "Please, Kei?"

Tsukishima flinched when he felt her rubbed her head at his shoulders. It made him back away and gave her a weird stare. "The hell are you doing?" he dusted his shoulder.

"If you agree then I'll leave you alone."

"Tsk, fine, if that's what it takes."

"Oh, really?" Kajiwara's eyes sparkled, grabbing his hand with both of hers. "Alright! Tsukkin and I are going to have a date at the café! So, when are you free?"

"It's not a date..." Tsukishima grumbled, scooting away. "I'm free this Friday... Right after club period..."

"Club period? Ja, then I'll wait for you!" the girl chirped, standing up gleefully.

'Wait for me?' "Hold on—-" Before he could say anything to her, Kajiwara went back to lie on his bed and read through his favorite comics. He popped a vein, yelling at her to not jumble them up for the volumes were organized before she landed a hand on them.

The next day, she was going to have one of her favorite curry bread, buying from the Kitagawa canteen that was crowded as always. She went head to head with very large guys, mostly from the sports club, and squeezed herself in between them so she could reach the front. But it was too packed that a flow caused her to be pushed out and fall on the ground.

"Ow!" her butt landed on the solid ground.

"Oh, are you okay?" a hand was offered to her the moment she fell. She looked up to see a very tall third-year that had very spiky hair and an intimidating gaze that unintentionally scared her.

She shivered under his looming figure and scurried away, standing up by herself. "H-H-Hai! I-I-I'm s-s-sorry!" the poor first-year girl shrieked, bowing at her senpai repeatedly.

"Ah, y-you don't have to say sorry. I'm actually the one that should do so..."

Kajiwara raised her head with teary eyes.

"Um, you can have this if you want..." The scary looking guy handed over the red bean bread he managed to buy from the horde packing up in front of the bread stand. The girl stared at it as he scratched his head. "I'm not really hungry, and you probably need it more than I do, so..."

"Ah, s-sorry, but you don't need to..." Shinobu murmured, shyly. "A-Ano... I actually..."

"Oh Iwa-chan, you survived the bread battle?" Two certain brunettes came in the scene, one curly haired girl chewing on the multiple curry bread she managed to buy since she got out of the classroom before the bell could even ring.

"Oikawa, Sugimoto, hey."

Kajiwara glanced at the girl who was called Sugimoto, recognizing that she's her classmate. "Oh, it's Kajihana-san from my class." even then, Hisano wasn't good in remembering names, and even mistaken the name of her future best friend.

"It's Kajiwara." The said girl's name corrected, laughing awkwardly.

Iwaizumi glanced at her. "You two know each other?" he asked.

"W-We're in the same class." she answered, stiffly. 'Sugimoto-chan, are friends with third years...?'

"That's right; she's the one with nice pigtails that I've been telling you about." Sugimoto pointed at her classmate, casually, even though this was the first time they had the chance to talk. She gave that cat-like smile, and examined the girl's fine in amazement. "Now that I've had a clear view of you, it's no question that you really look like a bisque doll!"

Kajiwara blushed at the compliment and froze, 'Wait, did she remember me because of my pigtails?!'

"Hmm, Hisano-chan, you really took a liking on Doll-chan over here." Oikawa mused, bringing his face closer to the girl whose face became redder when he shoved his pretty face in front of her.

 'I-It's O-Oikawa-senpai wh-which everyone's been talking about...'

"What piques my interest is Iwa-chan giving his favorite red-bean bread to her. My, my Iwa-chan, you must like pretty faces, don't you—-"

Shinobu's jaw dropped after a fist replaced Oikawa's face that was in front of her. Hajime had just brought up a good punch at the face, sending his friend flying towards the wall nearby.

Sugimoto's eyes were widened in amazement, gawking in admiration and asked her senpai to teach her some of his moves so she can have them tested in her karate club.

"U-Um... are you okay, Oikawa-senpai..." she sweat dropped as the third year moped on the ground about getting hit by his fellow teammate all of the time.

"Dammit Iwa-chan..." he revived from his fall, and stood on both of his feet. "You just want me to look lame in front of a very cute first-year girl, don't you, Iwa-chan?!"

"Ha? What the hell are you talking about, Trashykawa!" And another head butt was served onto the pretty boy's face.

"Iwaizumi-senpai's you're so cool!" Hisano's eyes shimmered, her fist curling up in excitement. "I wonder what move he'll do next!"

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Kajiwara glanced back and forth and wondered what's up with this whole bunch. Oikawa was getting strangled by his so called friend while Sugimoto just watched from the sidelines as if she were watching a pro-wrestling show.

The blonde doll-faced thought how weird they are, backing away, and ready to run at any time. 'Oikawa-senpai and Iwaizumi-senpai... and also, Sugimoto-chan... why is she with two of the most well-known athletes from the volleyball club?' Kajiwara cocked an eyebrow. She felt a menacing presence coming from the corner, where she glanced at and saw a black haired boy giving them a very scary glare that gave her the goose bumps.

'What is it with today? Kitagawa Daichi has some very weird students...' Shinobu stifled a laugh, just watched this weird set of people. 'But, I think they aren't really bad people...' Little did she know they'd be the ones making her whole first-year in Kitagawa Daichi.
