Chapter 22: Cute & Tall Boy Debate

The next day, both of the powerhouse duo; Hinata and Kageyama were extremely quiet. Their classmates Sugimoto and Kajiwara didn't how to talk to them, or even a slight approach since it looked like they were still grieving over their loss from yesterday.

When lunch came, Kageyama headed straight to gym, bringing his gym bag with him, and also Hinata.

Sugimoto figures it's best to leave his guy friend alone and went to Class 1's room to see if Kajiwara is around. The two best friends ate their lunch together, talking about their volleyball-addicted friends, and how they were after their game with Seijoh.

"Tsukkin seemed unbothered by it though," Kajiwara mentioned, munching on her eggroll.

"Tsukkin? That Tsukishima guy? Tall, blonde and handsome?" Sugimoto wondered, remembering the bespectacled guy Kajiwara was always with.

Shinobu flinched and pouted. "Handsome? Oi, handsome is too mature for Tsukkin. I suggest you call him cute!" Well, due to the fact they were childhood friends, Kajiwara always felt they were long-lost siblings, since they were both tall, blonde and yes, good-looking. At times, she'll have this older sister over-protectiveness since from middle school, she always had reports from Yamaguchi that a lot of girls ask him about the blonde boy.

Of course, Kajiwara would feel a stung of jealousy and made sure Yamaguchi keeps a close eye on Tsukishima, having the reason that 'Tsukkin is still young and isn't ready for mature stuff like those!' Hence, Shinobu-Onee-chan of both Yamaguchi and Tsukishima has been established.

Sugimoto furrowed her eyebrows. "Cute? You call a tall guy who always has a frown on his face, cute?" she scrunched her nose and pointed her chopstick at Kajiwara. "If you were to find a tall guy cute, you should look at Kage!"

"Kage? Kageyama-kun?" Kajiwara recognized her classmate from middle school. "Him? Cute? Isn't he the one with the nasty glare all the time?" Now that got the brunette offended.

"His glare isn't nasty! That just how he looks!" she defended.

"For someone who's used to his face! You're always with him, Hisano-chan! Of course you'll say that!" Shinobu retorted.

"Don't judge him! Kage is a sweet boy! And he's cool!" Hisano shouted.

The two's bickering didn't stop until Kajiwara came to a truce. She can't believe they're still doing that in high school. They use to argue a lot in middle school, and I guess that hasn't change up until now.

"I can't believe we're fighting over who's cuter," Kajiwara heaved out a sigh. "We sounded like fangirls debating for our idols just now."

Sugimoto grew an amused look and poked her mouth with her chopsticks. "Now that you've mentioned it..." she mused.

Kajiwara giggled and glanced at her friend for almost four years and counting. She knows Sugimoto isn't the type to swoon over guys but she just had to ask. "Hisano-chan, do you like Kageyama-kun?"

Hisano was the taken aback by the sudden question and pondered. "Well I guess so. I mean, Kage is nice. And he's a great friend." She answered, taking it lightly and now turned to Shinobu who blinked as she grinned. "What about you Shinobu-chin? You like that Tsukishima guy, don't you?!"

"Eh? What're you talking about Hisano-chan? Kei and I are just friends. And if I were to like him, I'd only like him as a friend!" Kajiwara blushed, denying the romantic intimacy she had with Tsukishima.

Sugimoto didn't buy it but didn't push it any further.

Their lunch session ended twenty minutes early as they parted way, since Sugimoto wanted to pass by the vending machine she always buy milk from. She came across Kageyama who just took a sip of his milk yogurt, having a ten second staring contest with him; the king being the one losing because of how flustered he is.

"Kage!" Hisano beamed, a smile spreading on her face. "Where did you go this lunch hour? I saw you exit the room right after the bell." She says, walking closer to him.

Tobio spitted his drink, noticing how close she was and became a stuttering mess. "S-S-S-S-Sugi-san!" he choked out. "I-I was just in the gym practicing!!"

Sugimoto tilted her head to the side, cutely. "Practicing? You just had a game yesterday. You're not tired?" he shook his head at her question. She gawked in admiration. "Man, you're so committed Kage! You're not only cute, but also very hardworking and cool! Unlike that Tsukishima guy!"

With those compliments, Kageyama's face turned dark red, embarrassment filling up his face and emotions. Never did he think the day would come when his compliment will praise and compliment him, and even compare him to other guys.

Sugimoto put her hands behind her head and pouted. "I was arguing with Shinobu-chin earlier you see. She was telling me how cute this Tsukishima is, who's completely not cute since there's always a frown present on his face. So I told her off that you were way cuter than him even though you're as tall as him!" she started to ramble about her argument with Kajiwara a while ago, also being the cause of the steam coming out of the boy's face.

'Su-Sugi-san called me cute!!' he gushed, wanting to slap himself in case he was dreaming.

"We just got out of the argument, but seeing you right now. I can conclude that I was right all along!" And it continued until Kageyama had fainted on the ground.

"K-Kage?!"

Kajiwara was on her way back to her classroom when she saw Tsukishima leaning his upper body on the window frame just beside the staircase where she just ascended. She peeked at his blunt face, looking out the glass to see what he was looking at. She saw nothing but an open area behind the school building.

Blinking, a mischievous grin made its way to her lips as she crawled up behind him discreetly, planning to surprise him when Tsukishima spoke, asking what is she doing. "You look like a lame T-Rex." He says, glancing over his shoulder to look at her. "And that is an insult to them."

Popping a vein, Shinobu threw one of her excess onigiri at him; eyes whitened in annoyance. "Jeez, Hisano-chan is right! You're not cute at all!" she exclaimed, sending a dagger.

The glasses boy took the rice ball that stuck on his face, opening the wrapper and took a bite. "Thanks, I haven't had lunch yet." He chewed on the snack casually, ignoring his friend's irritation towards him.

"Not even a tad of cuteness exists in you!"

"Don't expect me to be cute and adorable when I'm almost as tall as the sunflower you have planted."

"Don't you even try to be cute?!"

The girl shouts at her fellow blonde, pulling out her lips as she watches him eat. A grain of rice stuck at the corner of his lips, which he didn't notice, showing an image of childishness – that led to him being adorable, that caused Kajiwara's heart to leap.

'D-Dammit! I take it back!' she suppressed her fangirl instincts on her childhood friend! "Dammit! Even you are adorable, remember, there's always Tadashin that can beat your cuteness! Neither your or Kageyama-kun wins! Tadashin wins!" Shinobu started to blurt out nonsense, leaving the boy confused.

"What the hell are you saying?" he grumbled, finishing his lunch and wiping the rice of his mouth.

"Oh, Tsukki! Tsukki! Sensei is looking for you!" from afar, the two could hear their third party call me; glancing at the hallway of the first-year classrooms, they caught sight of Yamaguchi running over to them while waving his hand in the air with a squeal-worthy smile.

"Eh? Shinobu, hey ther—-"

"Congratulations on winning, Tadashin!" Kajiwara congratulated him with a hug as they almost stumbled down the ground.

Tsukishima just shakes his head, leaving the two behind to enter his classroom. 'Idiots'

Therefore, Yamaguchi Tadashi wins the cute tall boy debate. For now.
