I had finally run out of ways to keep the two realtors from leaving the house.
Seokjin was starting to check his watch, and eventually he placed his coffee on the table and stood up.
"I'm sorry, Miss Kim," He said with a smile, "But we have another appointment to attend. Feel free to give the office a call if you wish to speak to us more,"
I stood quickly, "Ah, but you should wait for the mist to go," I tried to keep the concern from my voice, "It's not safe to drive in this, you won't be able to see,"
Seokjin smiled, "Thank you for the concern," He said, "But it is a straight road. As long as I drive slowly, there will be no problem," He turned to Jungkook, who was looking worried, "Come on, Jeon, time to go,"
Jungkook stood up, "It is very foggy out," He said, "Maybe we could wait a few more minutes?"
"It's time to go," Seokjin snapped, before heading to the front door, "Miss Kim isn't interested in our client's offer, there is not reason to wait,"
As he unlocked the front door, Tae got to his feet, moving immediately to stand by me. I followed them, trying to think up a reason for them not to leave.
"It's really not safe," I insisted, "You should wait it out,"
Seokjin and Jungkook stepped out the front door and I felt my heart rate increase. Tae's body stiffened and he let out a deep growl, alerting me to a presence just out of my vision.
"Please, wait," I also stepped outside, nervously looking around, despite knowing I wouldn't be able to see anything, "It's not safe,"
"Thank you for the coffee, "Miss Kim," Seokjin said, lifting the handle of the gate and stepping outside, "Please, call the office if you-"
Tae let out a loud snarl and dashed forward, knocking Jungkook from his feet. However, he was too late.
All I saw was a white blur as Seokjin was yanked away, and the sounds that followed made my blood run cold.
Screams of terror and agony echoed through the trees, accompanied by a wet tearing sound and inhuman growls, indicating that they were still very close.
Tae snapped at something by the gate and I rushed forward, slamming it shut and reconnecting the electrical current.
"Inside!" I cried, yanking a shocked Jungkook to his feet and half dragging, half carrying him back into my house. Tae backed up behind us, clearly still seeing something I couldn't, but when I called him, he turned and ran inside.
I slammed the door and locked it, before pulling Jungkook to the living room and pushing him onto the sofa.
I sunk onto my father's chair as my knees gave way, trying to catch my breath as Tae rushed to the window to look out. After what felt like hours but was mere seconds, his body relaxed and his hackled turned smooth. He came to me and rested his huge head on my thigh, looking up at me with his soft eyes.
I weakly pet his head, comforted by his presence, but the silence did not last long.
"What the fuck is going on?!" Jungkook's voice had a shrill quality to it and it was obvious that he was slightly hysterical, "What just happened?! Where is Jin?! What-"
He stood up despite the trembling in his legs, "What was that?!"
I sighed, sitting up straight in my chair, "I hate to say it," I said softly, "But he's gone. I told you not to go into the mist, but-"
"What the fuck is going on?!" Jungkook stomped towards me, stopping when Tae let out a low growl. He stopped moving when Tae turned to face him, and I reached out, petting his back.
"Tae," I said, "Guard,"
My dog, as obedient as he was, immediately moved to the window and sat down, alternating between looking out the window and staring at my realtor house guest.
Jungkook took a deep breath, seemingly calming himself.
"What is going on, Miss Kim?!"
