Five
I took a deep breath as my own nerves began to calm. The realtor was staring at me expectantly and seeing as he'd seen it, I decided to tell him. He was going to be trapped in this house with me until the mist rolled away, anyway.
"That is the reason I can't sell this house," I started, "And why I insisted you guys stayed inside the house,"
"Where is Seokjin?" Jungkook was clearly in shock, but I didn't blame him.
"He's gone," I said, standing up and speaking as gently as I could, "I'm sorry, Jungkook, but he's long gone,"
"What do you mean, gone?!" He cried, "Seokjin can't be gone! We have work to do!"
Tae let out a short bark at the man, and he jumped, "What happened to him, where did he go, we can go get him,"
He clearly didn't want to accept reality, but I couldn't blame him in the slightest.
"Seokjin is dead," I said firmly, "He was taken by the creatures and-"
"What creatures?" He cut me off, clearly starting to panic. I stepped towards him and gently put my hands on his shoulders, pushing him until he was sat on the sofa.
Tae was relaxed in the window and I knew that even if he wasn't there, he'd be able to sense anything getting close, so I told him to go to Jungkook. Even though the realtor was scared of him, the big lump sat on him would keep him rational and stop him from moving about.
Of course, I knew that pacing was a way to work off nervous energy, but he was making me nervous and I wanted him to listen to me properly.
Jungkook's eyes widened as Tae climbed onto the sofa next to him, their faces only inches apart. He gave the man a good, solid lick on the face, before laying down and resting his front legs across his lap.
"He won't bite you, I promise," I said, "He's a good boy. Give him a pet and calm down,"
"C-Calm down?" Jungkook hissed, "My senior has gone missing and I have a monster on my lap!"
Tae bashed Jungkook with his large head and the realtor let out a grunt and slowly lifted his trembling hand to tentatively pat the dog's head.
After a moment, I sat down, trying to figure out where to start. We clearly had the time, but I had never told anybody about our home before. I wasn't allowed to.
"This land has been in our family for hundreds of years," I started, opting for the historic route, "The house was built and the land was fenced off to stop people getting in," I looked at him, "It's dangerous in here,"
Jungkook frowned, "So why were we even allowed in?"
"The front gate has a light sensor," I answered, "When it gets dark it locks. It's only dangerous when it's dark, or," I looked out the window, still seeing nothing but thick cloud, "When the mist is here,"
The realtor also looked out of the window, "Why is it dangerous? You said creatures, what creatures?"
"We don't know what they are, exactly," I said, "My family think they may be unique to this forest. We've been trying to figure them out for years, but we've got no answer. We call them Lurkers,"
Jungkook was silent. I felt a shiver down my spine when I thought about what I was going to say next.
"I've seen one a couple of times," I said, "They move very, very fast - so fast that we can't actually see them. The dog's can," I said nodding at Tae, "My family have had dog's with them since the beginning, for lots of different reasons,"
"What do they look like?" Jungkook asked quietly, seemingly trying to get his head around this abundance of new information.
"They're very tall and very thin," I said, "They have long thing legs and arms with long fingers that end in points. They have no face at all and are a silvery-white in colour with slightly darker stripes,"
He frowned, "Like the trees?"
"Exactly, like the trees," I said with a nod, "They use speed and camouflage to hunt, The only reason I have seen one is that it was in the road, just staring at me," I shuddered at the memory. It was not long after I had been caught in the mist at night time when Hope and my father had rescued me. I was in the garden with Hope and it was getting dark. She tensed up and began to growl, trying to back up into me and push me inside the house. That was when I saw it.
Standing in the middle of the only way out of our land. The Lurker. Tall and unmoving, at first I thought it was a tree. Until it moved. In the blink of an eye, it was gone, and Hope went mad, lunging around at the fence until my father came out and dragged me inside, with the dog following.

AN: I changed the name of the book back to the original name. It didn't seem right at the time, so I changed it, but here I am, changing it back lol
