Chapter 8: I Bet You're Awesome

Chapter 8: I Bet You're Awesome

Hannah:

I woke up the next morning, reflecting on what happened last night at the party as I stared at the ceiling. I almost wanted to have sex with Charlie. At his friend's house. Shaking my rough bed hair, I pressed my palm down to my chin. I called a cab and went to bed immediately after I left the incident with Charlie. Looking to my side, Linda was still asleep. She decided to have a sleepover for the weekend. She ended up coming over around four am. I got up from my bed slowly not to wake her up, used the bathroom and wash my hands. As I exited the bathroom, I reached for my phone and unplugged it from the charger. I had missed calls from my parents around midnight and one from Seth, which made me wonder why he's calling me. I checked my message notifications Charlie texted me four times, Linda twice, Ed once, Mom once.

Linda- I'm doing body shots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME SHOW OFF UR BOD TO DO ONE! ;) 1:34am

Linda- Eddie's mad at me, so I'm mad at him! 3:50 am

Loopy- I'm sorry for what happened. Are you ok? 12: 20 am
Loopy- Where are u, did u leave? 12:59 am
Loopy- Where are u? 1:39 am

Loopy- I hope ur at home so goodnight and text me when u get this 2:19 am

Eddie- Tell Linda that to take two Advil 4:15 am

Mom- I saw you and Linda asleep this morning, so I didn't want to wake you both. Me and your dad are running errands all day so see you at dinner 10:01 am

I decided to text Ed first: 'I will. To Charlie: I'm fine. I did leave. See you on Monday. <3. Mom and Dad: all right. Love you. I took two steps at a time to the kitchen to make breakfast for me and Linda to cure her hangover. She couldn't she just have one drink and be civil at a party? Before going to sleep, she mumbled about fighting with Ed. I sighed at this thought, bringing out eggs, bacon, and bread. As I finished the eggs, I started grilling the bacon and toasted the bread. I heard footsteps from the stairs. "Smells great." Linda's voice sounded groggy and tired.

"Afternoon," I greeted her.

"Really?" She asked and I nodded as I put the food on two plates. I saw her pull out her phone to check the time. "It's 11:39," she grumbled.

"I know," I said with a small smile.

"Ed didn't call or text me."

"He texted me." I poured juice into two cups.

"What did he say?"

"He said you should take two Advil." She sighed heavily and muttered crap. I sat down with my plate and then started eating.

"What happened to you guys last night anyway?" I asked with my mouth full.

"Ugh, he got mad at me when I was doing body shots off this guy, telling me I have no respect for him. I told him he was being dramatic. He told me I was shameless with my body, it got heated when I said that I think about other guys when we make out."

"Linda, no."

"It's not true, but I was drunk and angry. So he yelled at me saying to get my own ride and stormed off."

"Who took you here then?"

"Louis." My eyes widened. So he took her here, now he knows where I live, great.

"How did you convince him to take you here?" I questioned. She grinned widely, wiggling her eyebrows. "Linda, what did you do?"

"Haha, well I kind of told him about you, that you're pretty and single and to take us to the mall," she admitted.

"LINDA!" I yelled, slamming my hand on the table lightly.

"Look, Han, you need this. We can double date now." I sighed, resting my head on my hand. I can't believe she did that. How am I supposed to go to the mall interested in him when I'm with someone?

"Fine, when is he coming?" She got up and hugged me too tight. "You're hurting me!"

"I texted him and said at four. I gave him your number too." I was about to protest, but she let go and rushed upstairs. Since we finished our meal and it was already past noon, I placed the dishes in the dishwasher and made my way upstairs to my room. "Did you call him?"

"He still hasn't picked up," she told me. I shook my head and got my face wash and toothbrush to take a quick shower. After I was done, she went right in after me and I started to moisturize my skin and grabbed my clothes: skinny jeans, blue t-shirt, and boots with a black hoodie.

Linda asked me for some clothes to borrow, I gave her a tank top and a pair of skinny jeans with the shoes from last night. Linda informed me that Louis was outside my house, I nodded and followed her to the front door. We saw him in his blue Camry, smiling at us as Linda entered the back, leaving me with the spare passenger seat. "Ready to go?" he asked.

"Yes," we both said. I checked his ensemble: white long sleeve shirt and dark denim jeans for the warm day. He drove off at a moderate speed, the drive was silent and actually comfortable. We headed into town and arrived at the mall. Macy's coming into view, I headed inside with Linda beside me and Louis behind us. We browsed at fragrances for any new scents.

"I didn't see you for the rest of last night, what happened when I left you on the dance floor?" Louis asked out of the blue.

"Oh, uh I went to the bathroom. It was getting late, so I headed home," I explained. Partial lie, I tucked a strand behind my ear.

"By yourself? I could have taken you home." His bright eyes looked up from the fragrances to me.

"Oh, it's fine I took a cab." I forced a smile.

"Well, I just thought that I would spend more time with you."

"We are now." He smiled back, seeing a small dimple in his cheek. He grabbed my hand, beginning to entwine our fingers but I let go. "Do you like Maryland?" I asked inching away from him, crossing my arms behind my lower back.

"Yeah, the weather is nice here. At least it changes and there are fewer storm disasters." I laughed, heading to the jeans section. I fingerpicked the items.

"How long have you been a swimmer?" I heard a girl's voice asked from the other side.

"Since my freshman year." Responded the familiar timbre of my secret boyfriend, I peeked through the jeans. I frowned, dropping my mouth open. A pretty brunette was holding his biceps tight, pressing herself to his ribs.

"I bet you're awesome." She cooed, brushing his skin. Awesome? I raised one eyebrow. They almost stepped my way, I crouched down in time, so they wouldn't see me. I started to search for Linda's shoes if she was here, but it looked like I lost her in another aisle.

"What are we hiding for?" Asked Louis in a hushed voice that made me jump and yelp.

"Oh, I thought I dropped a pair of jeans from the rack," I replied with a shaky laugh.

"You're funny," he said with a cute smile, poking my cheek. I scrunched my nose.

"Louis!" The girl that Charlie was with squeaked his name, they were in front of us. She's prettier up close: glowing skin and light brown eyes, she stood to Charlie's height linking elbows. I internally cringed while expressing an emotionless face.

"Raven. Hi, what's up?" Louis greeted her.

"You're shopping here?" Raven asked.

"Just browsing with my friend Hannah." He put his arm around me, I gave a tight smile, peeking to Charlie who was glaring at me and him.
