Chapter 1: Be Positive
Chapter 1: Be Positive
Hannah:
New year, new grade. Hopefully Grade 11 goes smoothly without drama. The entire summer consisted of makeouts, conversations, and late night dates in the park with Charlie to be inconspicuous. I'm not complaining or anything but I would love for a day date where I can hold his hand, show him off of how great he is.
During the last week of summer, we didn't see each other since he went out of town to visit some relatives.
We video chatted and texted two days ago but hasn't contacted me this morning. Maybe he's skipping the first day of school. Our deep and humorous conversations, I love being near him. Seth comes up by my side, startling me a bit.
"New year, new torture," he said in a sullen voice. His blonde hair messy, green eyes irritated.
I pushed his shoulder and said "it's not gonna be that bad this year. Be positive." Finding my locker for the year, I input my combination and close it back. It's a habit of mine every year on the first day of school, a good luck charm for me. Me and Seth make our way to the main office to receive our schedules, arms linked together, seeing the populars at the end of the hallway. Noticing how all of them have either blonde hair or blue eyes, skinny or muscular.
Take Lucy for example, blonde hair but green eyes. Skinny, head cheerleader and captain of the debate team. Bitch of course but she's not stupid.
Next to her is Max, the comedian, brown hair and blue eyes. Very handsome. Muscular, he is on the swim team too.
Golden couple Austin and Ally, both blonde and brown eyes. They have been dating since the fifth grade. Austin was adorable lean body, linebacker of the football team. Ally was curvy, guys loved her big boobs but she has eyes only for Austin.
And Charlie, standing there in all his gorgeousness as he laughed pompously at a joke Max said. My heart beating so fast and palms sweating whenever I saw him. The whole group laughed as well loud and forced.
Ignoring them, we tried to walk past but Ally noticed us saying in a haughty tone "you guys lost or something?"
"This is school, Ally. Public domain." I retorted back.
"What's 'domain'?" she said with a confused face. Obviously not the sharpest pencil in the pencil box.
Lucy rolled her eyes, popping her hip and said "whatever miss know it all. Are you trying out for the debate team, Hannah?"
"Not this year Lucy." Debate was one of my favorite activities in school, mock trials were the best. When Lucy joined last year, everyone loved her because she actually stayed on topic of politics and had great ideas.
"Good, getting captain was hard enough and I won't let a loser like you take it away." She got captain by cheating, stealing my index cards on my topics of Nigeria and England. It was her word against mine so I quit. With a flip of her hair she past me, hitting my shoulder hard I stumble on my feet. I straightened myself as her friends follow her behind, noticing Seth already in front walking away to the office. Coward, he didn't speak once.
"You better hurry along. You don't want your beard waiting." Max said smugly the last behind. I look to Charlie who hasn't glanced at me once during the small talk.
Wanting to say something, but I walked away. I couldn't believe he didn't say anything but we're a secret. One of the rules is for us to pretend we don't aquaint with each other.
Having my doubts about him but I think this year will be great.
