twenty three
23. Graduation
Damon entered the Salvatore's living room and was immediately confused hearing Bon Jovi, You Give Love A Bad Name, blasting through the speakers, while his two brothers sat there getting drunk and bopping their heads, while their best friend, Lexi, the girl he killed, was busy dancing her heart away.
"Damon" Stefan greeted, seeing his oldest brother enter the room, "Join me and Brayden in celebrating my 17th high school graduation".
Damon ignored Stefan and simply walked over to the stereo and turned the music off.
"Oh, that's Lexi" Brayden pointed towards his best friend, "You remember her right? Mine and Stefan's best friend, the girl you killed, breaking the one rule we had between us".
"Lexi, back from the dead, goodie" Damon said, clearly not liking Lexi's presence here.
Suddenly, Lexi speeded over to Damon, she put her hand around his throat and slam him to the nearest wall, "What's up, buzzkill?" she greeted.
"Are you two just gonna sit there and let her enact her ghostly revenge?" Damon breathed out, having trouble speaking with Lexi's hand around his throat.
"You reap what you sow, buddy" Stefan commented, as Brayden ignored Lexi and Damon and kept on drinking out of his bourbon bottle.
"Let's be very clear" Lexi told Damon, "Whatever time I have left here, I sure as hell don't plan on wasting on you, got me?".
"Yeah, got you" Damon whispered, finally causing Lexi to let of his throat, allowing Damon to breathe again, So if you and Ric and little Gilbert are all flesh-like and real-seeming that means something went horribly wrong when Bonnie tried to put that veil up, and here you three are having dance party USA".
"Oh my god, you are so right Damon" Brayden said, he turned to his younger brother, "We are being so selfish right now little brother, how dare we try to spend time with our best friend before she disappears again, we should be out there sacrificing ourselves for people who clearly don't deserve it, right Damon? Stefan, you should be upstairs grooming that hero up do of yours".
Damon looked between both his brothers, "Are you two drunk?" he asked.
"I don't know mom, are we?" a clearly drunk Stefan asked, making Lexi chuckle.
Brayden passed his bottle of bourbon over to Lexi but before she could drink it, Damon snatched it from her hand, "Okay" an annoyed Lexi whispered.
"Well, I guess that's one way to celebrate our supernatural apocalypse" Damon commented, taking a sip out of the bottle, "Now, care to hazard any guesses on what the hell went wrong?".
"No, not really" Brayden said, standing up and turning the music back on before his twin could say anything, "Sorry Damon, whatever you have to say, go say it to someone else, I can't hear you anymore!" he yelled over the very loud music.
"Unbelievable" an annoyed Damon whispered, before leaving the room to find out what happened, realising both his brothers weren't going to be any help.
***
"I don't know where Bonnie is, but I do know she's not going to be putting the veil back up, I have to do that, but I kind of hit a snag" Fae informed Caroline through the phone, while standing in the tunnels.
"A snag?" a shocked Caroline asked, standing in the high school corridor, handing out graduation gowns and yearbooks to the students, "A snag is a bad yearbook picture, this is a tsunami, where are you?".
"Trying to fix the problem Bonnie created" a bitter Fae informed, wanting nothing more then find her missing descendant and murder her but at the same time knowing she didn't have time to do that, "But I seem to keep running into trouble, I'm going to have to wait till the full moon tonight before I have enough power to the put the veil back up".
"Are you telling me that we might graduate right smack in the middle of a ghost-filled expression triangle?" Caroline asked, clearly not happy with the thought of ghosts ruining her graduation.
Fae glanced down at her dead body, "Here's another suggestion, let's just cancel it" she said.
"No, we are not going to cancel" Caroline protested, "Graduation is the most important event of our lives, the last ceremony of our youth, it is our rite of freaking passage, and I know you and Kaitlynn are technically teenagers, but you two are my best friends and I want to do this with you guys by my side, hell will freeze over before I let anyone cancel graduation".
"Yeah, let's not make jokes about hell freezing over, please" Fae said, "Because to me it feels like we're already pretty close to it".
"Just promise me that today is a friend day" Caroline said.
"Fine, I promise you that today will be a friend day" an emotional Fae promised, "I love you, don't ever forget that Caroline Forbes, okay?".
"Even if I do, you have forever to remind me" Caroline teased, "But don't worry, I don't plan on forgetting you anytime soon, oh and I love you too, now hang up and hurry here, I'm going to now make sure Kaitlynn doesn't ditch us".
"Go" Emily told her daughter, once Caroline had hanged up the phone, "Go to your graduation, I'll be here making sure no one finds your body, but Fae--".
"Don't say it" Fae interrupted, "You don't need to remind me, I know that I have to tell them, that I have to tell him, but it's not easy, okay, me and Stefan were apart for thirty years and that ruined both of us, I don't even want to know what knowing about my death will do to him, to the twins, to Caroline and Kaitlynn, they don't deserve anymore pain".
Emily sighed, "If you're not going to tell them the truth, at least make sure you say your goodbyes, they deserve that much".
Fae, with tears in her eyes, nodded her head in understanding.
***
The knock on their front door caught both Damon and Brayden's attention.
Damon walked down the stairs and towards the front door, while Brayden walked out the living room, he stood behind Damon, wanting to know who was here.
As soon as Damon opened the door, he was shocked seeing the person infront of him, it was the hunter he had encountered while on the island looking for cure, a hunter he last remembered was left to starve on the island.
"Vaughn" Damon realised.
"Who the hell are you?" a confused Brayden asked, having never met Vaughn before.
Without saying anything, Vaughn shot both brothers on their shoulders, making both of them scream in pain.
"Got a little message for you, laddie" Vaughn said, "Straight from the mouth of the witch Qetsiyah, we want Silas and the cure, and if you don't give them to us, a lot of people will die today".
***
Both Damon and Brayden now sat on the couch, taking the wooden bullets out of their shoulder, both of them groaning in pain.
"Yeah, borrowed it from a jarhead friend Connor" Vaughn informed, pointing the gun at the two brothers, "Shoots wood like lead".
"Come on, man" Damon complained, "I didn't kill you".
"No, but you left me in that well on that island where I starved to death" Vaughn snapped, "There I was, all alone on the Other Side, till Qetsiyah found me and reminded me of my supernatural destiny, cure Silas and then kill Silas, end of story".
Before Vaughn could say anything, Stefan speeded behind him and ripped his heart out.
***
Brayden stood in his room, infront of the mirror, he pulled his black t-shirt to the side and revealed the gun shot wound, a wound that wasn't healing, but seems to be getting worse.
"Dammit" Brayden whispered, realising what Vaughn had shot him with, but it wasn't himself that he was worried about, he was more worried about Damon, who he knew was also shot with the same bullet.
"Knock, knock" Caroline knocked on Brayden's door.
Brayden quickly hid his wound and turned to his girlfriend, hiding his pain with a huge smile on his face, "Hey, princess, what are you doing here?" he asked, "Shouldn't you be at your graduation?".
"I'm going, but before that I wanted to show you my outfit" Caroline asked, spinning around and showing Brayden her outfit, "How do I look? Is it graduation appropriate?".
Brayden took a moment to just admire Caroline, "You look absolutely stunning" he finally said.
"Really?" a slightly unsure Caroline asked.
Brayden stepped forward and cupped Caroline's face in his hands, "Look at yourself through my eyes Caroline, and you will realise you are most stunning and beautiful girl to ever exist".
Caroline smiled at her boyfriend, "You really know how to make a girl feel good about herself".
Brayden shook his head, "Not all girls, just you" he said, caressing Caroline's cheek with his thumb.
Caroline stared at Brayden for a moment, the next moment, she grabbed his face and placed her lips on to his, Brayden put his hands on Caroline's waist and deepened their kiss, as they were kissing, Caroline's hands want from Brayden's face down to his shoulders, and she ended up touching the place Brayden was injured, immediately causing Brayden to wince in pain and separate himself from Caroline.
Caroline looked at Brayden in worry, "Why did you just wince?".
"I didn't wince" Brayden lied, not wanting to tell Caroline about him being poisoned, he didn't want to ruin her graduation.
"It's not nothing" Kaitlynn snapped, entering the room with Damon behind her, "You two are definitely brothers, you know that?! Damon refused to tell him till I forced him to take his shirt off".
"Wait, tell you what?" a confused Caroline, "What's going on Kaitlynn?".
"Nothing is going on" Brayden said, before Kaitlynn could say anything.
"Check his shoulder" Kaitlynn told Caroline, ignoring Brayden's glare, "The spot where Vaughn shot him".
Caroline turned to Brayden, who immediately took a step back from her, he then looked at his brother, "Any help?" he asked.
Damon put his hands up in surrender, "She's not going to let it go till you show her, so just show her" he said.
Before Brayden could say anything or even take another step away from her, Caroline closed the distance between them and removed his shirt from his shoulder, revealing the gun wound that wasn't healing.
"Why isn't this healed yet?" a suddenly very worried Caroline asked.
Brayden sighed in defeat, realising he couldn't hide the truth now, "The bullets Vaughn shot both me and Damon with was laced with werewolf venom".
"We need to get Klaus here, now" Caroline realised, panicking immensely now, "We need his blood".
"Klaus would rather see us die" Damon reminded, "Plus, Klaus is a thousand miles away, sipping a hurricane on Bourbon Street".
"Those wounds are going to kill you" Kaitlynn snapped, "Stop being so damn casual about it Damon! You're going to die, you both are!".
"No one's dying" Brayden assured a panicked Caroline, "Look, me and Damon will be fine, you two need to leave for your graduation".
"You're insane if you think I'm leaving you to go graduate" Caroline snapped.
"That's exactly what you're doing" Brayden stated.
"Brayden--".
"Caroline, listen to me" Brayden interrupted, cupping Caroline's face in his hands, "I know how important today is for you, I'm not going to let you abandon your graduation because of me, I promise you, I'm not going to die tonight, I promised you forever and I'm going to keep that promise, but you need to go to your graduation, if not for yourself, then for me".
"I can't lose you" Caroline whispered.
"And you won't" Brayden promised, "I'm going to be okay"
Suddenly the four vampires heard noise coming from downstairs.
"Looks like Vaughn's awake" Damon said.
Brayden looked between Caroline and Kaitlynn, "Get to your graduation, me and Damon will deal with Vaughn".
Brayden tried walking away from Caroline but he couldn't as she refused to let go of his hand, Brayden looked at Caroline only to see her looking at him with teary eyes, she didn't want to leave him, she was scared this is the last time she will see him and just the thought made her want to die.
"I will see you again" Brayden promised, knowing what was going on in Caroline's head, "Real soon, and I will be better, I promise".
After placing a kiss on Caroline's forehead, Brayden removed her grip on his hand and with a heavy heart walked downstairs, and after giving an emotional Kaitlynn one last glance, Damon also followed.
***
Damon and Brayden entered the living room where Vaughn stood with Stefan and Lexi.
"Here" Brayden said, throwing the cure towards Vaughn, who easily caught it.
Alaric had given the cure to Damon after taking it from Silas's body, Damon tried to give the cure to Kaitlynn, but she refused to take it because of the threat of the hunters, so Damon gave the cure to Brayden who gave it to Vaughn, a plan in both the twins head.
"What the hell are you doing?" a confused Stefan asked, wondering why Brayden was giving Vaughn the cure.
"Saving our asses, like always" Brayden stated, walking towards the front door.
"We're going to dig Silas back up" Damon informed Stefan, before following Brayden, "You coming Vaughn, or not?".
***
"Here we are" Damon announced, as the trio arrived at the quarry together.
"What is that?" a confused Vaughn asked, wondering why the twins brought him here.
"This is the place me and Damon dumped Silas" Brayden informed, "This quarry is closed off to the hikers, there's no animals here because there's no food, all there here is just endlessly deep water".
"I'm not following you Brayden, where exactly did two you put the body?" a confused Vaughn asked.
"Well, let's see, so me and Bray dragged his stone ass through here" Damon pointed towards a path leading to the cliff, "We flung him in that general direction and he tumbled down into those weeds, we kind of lost him in the rocks, what do you know about physics? What is it? It's distance equals velocity times time? Guess we should've told you to bring some scuba gear, huh?".
***
Caroline was now at the school, all dressed in her graduation gown, still desperately trying to get Klaus on the phone.
"Klaus, now is not the time to decide that you are over me" a panicked Caroline said into the phone, leaving Klaus what seemed to her was the hundredth voicemail, I'm gonna call you every ten minutes until you get your ass here to save Brayden and Damon's lives", after hanging up the phone, a frustrated Caroline walked over to Fae, who was standing alone, "Where is everyone?".
"I'm here" Matt announced, running over to the two girls.
"Where have you been?" a concerned Caroline asked.
"Uh, you know, making plans for the summer, dodging death by vampire hunter" Matt replied, putting his graduation cap on".
"Where's Kaitlynn?" a confused Fae asked, "Please tell me we're not doing this without her".
"You're not" Kaitlynn assured, walking over to the group with Stefan.
"I can't believe it" Caroline said, looking at her friends, "We're actually all here, we are all here together", Caroline looked towards Fae who had tears in her eyes, "Fae Bennett, are you crying?".
"I just--this means a lot to me" Fae admitted, "To be here with all of you", Fae looked at Stefan and laced their fingers together, "One last hurrah together".
"Before all three of us go to college" an excited Caroline said.
"I still can't believe I got talked into going to college" Kaitlynn said.
"Don't pretend that you're not excited to be roommates with me and Fae" Caroline said, "Oh my god, we could get a triple room!".
Fae chuckled, she pulled Caroline and Kaitlynn into a tight hug, "I'm really happy that we're all here today", Fae looked at Stefan and Matt, "Join the hug you guys".
"Ah, I don't--I don't hug" Stefan said.
"Today you do" Fae said, grabbing Stefan's wrist and pulling him into the group hug, tears welling her eyes as she realised this was her last group hug with some of the most important people in her life, the only people missing were the twins, and Fae didn't even know if she will have time to find Damon and Brayden and hug them one last time.
***
"Welcome parents, family and friends, what a beautiful day for graduation, thank you for joining us today on this special day as we celebrate our graduates, so let's get started, John Albrick, David Bass, Sarah Beasley, Bonnie Bennett".
After not seeing Bonnie anywhere, a confused Kaitlynn looked towards Caroline who shrugged her shoulders in response while Fae just stood there emotionlessly, knowing till her ghost was around Bonnie wasn't going to risk showing her face to her, because both of them knew if she did, it wouldn't only be Fae who will disappear once the veil goes up, Bonnie will to.
"Fae Bennett".
Fae's trance was broken when her names was called out, she went on stage and shook her head with Mayor Hopkins, who also happen to be Bonnie's father, he knew Fae's reality, but to the world he had told that Fae was Bonnie's cousin.
After shaking the mayor's hand, Fae turned and her eyes met with Stefan's in the crowd, who was clapping with a proud smile on his face, making the smile on Fae's face even wider.
"Savannah Davis, Matt Donovan".
Matt walked up to the mayor and shook his hand, he finally got the high school diploma that at one point he didn't think he would be getting.
"William Duncan, Caroline Forbes".
Caroline stepped on the stage with a huge smile on her face, this felt like a dream come true for her, she has been dreaming about her graduation for ages and for that dream to finally become a reality, seemed absolutely surreal to her.
"Matt Freeman, Elena Gilbert, Kaitlynn Pierce".
Kaitlynn went up on stage and grabbed her diploma, a huge smile on her face hearing the cheers of her two best friends.
"Stefan Salvatore".
Stefan stepped on the stage to grab his diploma and after he grabbed it, he looked towards Fae, who sent a flying kiss towards him, making a huge smile form on his face seeing his girlfriends excitement seeing him graduate high school.
***
Vaughn kept his gun pointed towards the twins while looking down the quarry.
"What's wrong, laddie?" Damon asked in a Scottish accent, "Can't swim?".
Vaughn glared at the two brothers and that's when his eyes landed on the wound that was now spreading over to their necks, he observed the brothers and realised they looked like they were struggling to even stand.
"What the hell happened to you two?" a confused Vaughn asked.
"What do you think?!" an annoyed Brayden said.
Vaughn chuckled, he looked down at his gun in realisation, "Connor, he must've laced these bullets with werewolf venom".
"Ding, ding, ding" Damon said, "You're not as dumb as you sound".
Vaughn suddenly shot Damon in the leg.
"Hey!" Brayden yelled, only to be shot in his other arm.
"This was all a lie, eh?" Vaugh asked the two brothers, "You two knew you were dead men", Vaughn grabbed the cure that was hanging around his neck, "Well, you're not getting this back, where'd you put Silas?".
"Don't remember" Brayden said, causing Vaughn to shoot at the brothers again, this time causing both of them to fall down on their knees.
"One more jolt of werewolf toxin and you two will be dead within minutes" Vaughn warned, "Where's Silas?!".
Both Brayden and Damon stayed quiet and just as Vaughn was about to shoot them again, Alaric speeded behind him and after cracking his spine, he threw the hunter into the quarry.
"Oops" a smiling Alaric said, looking back at the twins.
"One slight problem" Damon said.
"You mean this?" Alaric asked, holding the cure he took from Vaughn's body.
"Yeap" Brayden said, as he fell to the ground.
***
After their graduation Stefan, Kaitlynn and Caroline stood behind the bleachers, with Stefan on the phone with Alaric, while Caroline tried to dial Klaus.
"I would love nothing more then to get out of here before Vaughn comes back to life" Alaric said, glancing at the unconscious twins, "But neither Damon or Brayden will take the cure".
"All right, just hang on a little longer, Caroline's calling Klaus again" Stefan said, extremely worried for his brothers.
"Stefan, we are past the point of hail mary phone calls" Alaric snapped, as Caroline looked at Kaitlynn and Stefan and shook her head, letting them know Klaus wasn't answering, "What do you want me to do? Even if I shove the cure down one of their throats, the other dies".
Before Stefan could say anything, him, Caroline and Kaitlynn started yelling in pain as pain shot through their head, causing them to hold their heads in their hands and fall to the ground.
"Remember us, Caroline?" one of the witches Caroline killed asked, the rest of the witches Caroline killed standing behind her, however before she could harm Caroline, a graduation cap was thrown at her and her head was severed from her body.
Caroline looked towards the person who threw the cap and breathed a sigh of relief seeing Klaus.
"There are plenty more of these to go around" Klaus told the rest of the witches, "Who's next? I can do this all day".
***
Once the sun has set, Caroline stood near the empty stage and stared at it with a small smile on her face, it finally hitting her that she was officially a high school graduate, hearing footsteps behind her caused Caroline to turn around and face the original hybrid.
"How did you get here so fast?" Caroline asked.
"I was already on my way" Klaus informed, he pulled out a card from his jacket pocket, "I received your graduation announcement, it was very subtle", Caroline laughed, "I assume you're expecting cash?".
"That, or a mini fridge" Caroline said.
"Well, I had considered offering you a first-class ticket to join me in New Orleans" Klaus admitted, "But I knew what your answer would be, you would never leave him behind, so I opted for something I knew you would accept, your soulmate".
Caroline looked at Klaus in confusion, who in return gestured behind her, turning around a huge smile formed on her face seeing an all healed up Brayden standing behind her, "You healed him" she said, turning back to Klaus.
"He's your first love, I intend to be your last" Klaus said, Caroline looked at Klaus in shock, "However long it takes", Klaus then looked at Brayden, "Be good to her mate, because you were right about one thing, she is the best thing to happen to you".
"I know" Brayden said.
Klaus gave Brayden a nod, he then looked at Caroline, "Congratulations, Caroline" he whispered, before walking away from the Forbes vampire.
Caroline watched the original hybrid walk away from her, a small smile forming on her face seeing Klaus do something she has always wished for him, for the first time since Caroline met him, Klaus was doing something selfless.
After Klaus left, Caroline turned to Brayden, "You're not jealous are you?".
Brayden chuckled and shook his head, "No" he replied honestly, "I'm not jealous, I just thank my lucky stars that you chose me".
Caroline smiled, "It's us against the world, remember?".
Brayden nodded, "I remember".
Caroline ran over to Brayden and hugged him, Brayden lifted Caroline off her feet and span her around, making the Forbes vampire laugh to her hearts content.
***
"Bray?" Damon called out, coming outside the boarding house and seeing his brother shoving Silas's body into the back of his car.
"The quarry should be deep enough for his body right?" Brayden asked his brother.
"Yeah, I don't think anyone's gonna stumble on him there" Damon said, "You want me to come with?".
Brayden shook his head, "No, I'm good, but you can do something else for me".
"What?" Damon asked.
"Till I'm gone, take care of Caroline for me?" Brayden asked.
Damon nodded his head, "I'll do your job till you come back".
"I'll be back soon" Brayden promised, shutting the car's boot and walking over to the driver's seat.
***
"Fae?!" Stefan called out, entering his room and looking around for his girlfriend, "Fae, are you in here?".
Stefan didn't get any reply, immediately causing him to worry, he knew Fae had gone to put the veil back up but veil has been up for a while now and with all the ghosts gone, Stefan thought Fae would be home by now but she wasn't, a confused Stefan turned to leave but stopped when his eyes landed on a letter by his bedside table, a letter that had his name on it.
Suddenly, Stefan was hit with a sense of deja vu, he started remembering what happened thirty years ago, he remembered seeing a letter addressed to him by his side table, the exact same way he's seeing currently.
With shaky steps, Stefan walked over to his bedside table and grabbed the letter, he knew this was written by Fae, he could always recognise Fae's handwriting, opening the letter, the small hope in Stefan's heart immediately crushed and he slumped on the his bed with tears in his eyes as he read the same words he had read thirty years ago.
I'm sorry Stefan,
maybe in another lifetime,
goodbye, Fae.
"Hey Stefan, have you seen Fae anywhere?" Kaitlynn asked, entering Stefan and Fae's shared room, wondering if the youngest Salvatore had seen her best friend around.
"She's gone" Stefan whispered.
"What?" Kaitlynn asked, not being able to hear Stefan properly.
Stefan didn't say anything, just simply handed Kaitlynn the letter Fae wrote while tears streamed down his face, a confused and worried Kaitlynn grabbed the letter from Stefan's hand and started reading it.
"Oh my god" a shocked Kaitlynn whispered.
"She left me" Stefan said, "She promised to never leave me again, but she left me".
"No" Kaitlynn said, shaking her head, "Something's wrong Stefan, Fae wouldn't just leave like this".
"Yes she would!" a furious Stefan yelled, standing up from his bed and glaring at Kaitlynn, "She would leave like this Kaitlynn, she's done it before!".
"Last time she had to leave you for your safety" Kaitlynn argued.
"And this time she left because she never really loved me the way I loved her" Stefan said.
"That's not true" Kaitlynn said, "This Fae we're talking about Stefan, something has happened to her, I'm telling you, she wouldn't do this to you, she was happy with you, it was everything she has dreamed of, she wouldn't just leave all this behind".
"But she did" Stefan whispered, "She left Kaitlynn, and you need to stop making excuses on her behalf and realise that Fae Bennett isn't someone you can rely on, the moment you get attached to her, she will leave you in the dust, it's what she's good at".
Before Kaitlynn could defend her best friend, a furious Stefan stormed out of the room.
"What have you done, Fae?" an emotional Kaitlynn whispered, slumping down on Stefan's bed and looking at the letter in her hand with tears.
Unknown to both Kaitlynn and Stefan, the letter currently in Kaitlynn's hand was the letter Fae had written thirty years ago, she had placed the letter on the bedside table after grabbing and it reminiscing about the past, and while writing her actual letter, the pervious letter had been forgotten about.
The letter present day Fae wrote, telling everyone about her death, was currently underneath Stefan's bed, having fallen there, out of everyone's reach.
***
Brayden was now at the quarry, he opened the boot of his car and pulled Silas's body out and shoved him on the ground, but the sound his body made didn't seem right to Brayden, instead of one stone, there seemed to be many stones in the bag, a confused Brayden bent down and opened up the bag Silas's body is supposed to be in, as soon as he opened it, he was shocked seeing many pieces of rocks but no body, he rapidly started searching for Silas, wondering if Silas's body ended up cracking or did Silas manage to escape.
"Don't bother, I'm not there" Brayden heard Elena say behind him.
A shocked Brayden turned around and looked at Elena, he knew the person infront of him wasn't Elena, "Silas?" he asked, slowly standing up, "How did you become you again? I saw you turn into stone".
"That's the funny thing about spells" Silas said, "They're bound by nature and nature demands balance, so every spell has a loophole, the spell that turned me into stone was bound by a witch, a living witch, so when that witch died, the spell broke".
"Fae's dead?" a shocked Brayden asked.
"Yeap" Silas confirmed, "And here's where the mystery of me comes full circle, I created the immortality spell two thousand years ago, I could never die, so nature needed to find a balance, a version of me that could die, a shadow self, a doppelganger".
"So this is your real face?" Brayden asked, "You're a Petrova doppelganger?".
"Not exactly" Silas said, Brayden's eyes widened in shock seeing Silas change his appearance from Elena to Stefan, "My real face remind you of someone, Brayden?".
"Stefan" Brayden whispered, feeling like his head was about to explode after finding out so many things, "He's your doppelganger".
"Correct" Silas said, walking over to Brayden and suddenly stabbing him in the stomach with a stake, causing Brayden to yell in pain, "Do you have any idea what it's like to starve for two thousand years?".
Silas then proceeded to throw Brayden into the safe Brayden was planning to throw Silas in, after locking the safe, Silas pushed the safe into the quarry water.
A trapped Brayden banged on the safe doors, desperately trying to get out, but he couldn't and suddenly water filled the safe and Brayden was pulled in and everything went pitch black.
