03. The Rager

Damon and Brayden opened their front door and saw their younger brother working on his motorbike.

"Good day for a midlife crisis" Damon commented, "A hundred and sixty-four years, I'd say you're due".

"This isn't a midlife crisis Damon" Stefan said.

"Then what is it?" Brayden asked curiously.

Stefan avoided eye contact with his brothers, not wanting to see the teasing looks they would give him once he reveals what he is doing today, "Ever since Fae came back we never went on a proper date, so I figured it was time her and me have some fun".

And just as Stefan expected, a teasing smirk formed on both his brothers faces.

"Isn't that sweet" Damon teased, "Bray, turns out our little brother does have a romantic bone in him".

"Yes, he does" Brayden said, he then turned to his twin, "Speaking of having a romantic bone, when are you taking Kaitlynn out on a date?".

Damon glared at Brayden, "How about you mind your own business?".

"No actually I would like an answer to that question as well" Stefan said, "You both have feelings for each other so when are you making it official".

"Moving on to a more urgent topic, that hunter jacked Tyler Lockwood of his werewolf venom last night, so basically he's got vampire poison in a bottle" Damon said, immediately changing the subject, causing both his brothers to roll their eyes at him but nonetheless they let go of the topic, for now at least.

"Well I have a solution to that problem" Brayden said, causing both his brothers to look at him curiously, "I'm gonna hunt that hunter down and then have him for dinner".

"Sounds like a plan" Damon said, "Count me in".

"I'll go with you guys" Stefan said, not wanting his brothers to deal with the hunter by themselves.

"Not happening" Brayden said, "You have a date with a certain heretic, me and Damon have got this".

Before Stefan could protest, both Damon and Brayden walked away to go find this hunter and end his chapter once and for all.

After a little bit of looking both Damon and Brayden came across a caravan parked in the woods.

"If I was a hunter trying to hide from vampires, this looks like a place I would stay" Damon said.

"I'd book a five star hotel" Brayden said, opening the caravan door.

Damon shook his head at his brother, "You're too picky" he said.

"No, I have class" Brayden said, waving his foot on the threshold and realising he could walk in.

"Are you saying I don't have class?" a slightly offended Damon asked.

"Your words, not mine" Brayden said, entering the caravan.

"Dick" Damon mumbled, following Brayden in.

"Thank you" Brayden said, giving his brother a mock smile.

Both the brothers then started to look around the place but before they could touch anything, two arrows were shot and hit each of them in their chest, the brothers looked from where the arrows came from and realised they were attached to a bomb, as soon as either of them moved, they will blow up into pieces.

After receiving cryptic calls and messages from both Damon and Brayden, worried Kaitlynn and Caroline made their way over to where the twins told them they were.

"Next time you want our help, send a proper message instead of making us decode a Nancy Drew code" Kaitlynn snapped, as her and Caroline entered the caravan together.

"Come in, close the door" Damon said, as he and Brayden stood very still, not wanting to blow themselves or the girls they loved.

"Oh my god" a shocked Caroline said, seeing what the arrow in Brayden's chest was attached to, "Is that a bomb?!".

"Caroline, baby, I love you, and I'll answer all your questions, but first you really need to help me" Brayden said.

"How the hell am I supposed to that?!" a panicked Caroline asked.

"Get this arrow out of me" Brayden replied.

"How, Brayden?!" Caroline asked.

"Cut it out" Brayden replied.

"We'd do it ourselves, but if we move", Damon touched the wire.

"Stop moving then" Kaitlynn snapped, as Damon mimicked a explosion.

"Come on Kait, you two are the ones who always say girls can do whatever they put their minds to" Damon reminded, "So put your mind on this and save us".

Caroline and Kaitlynn looked each other, they then looked at the table infront of them, where various knifes were placed, grabbing a knife each, they then slowly proceeded to cut the arrows out of Brayden and Damon.

"So, princess" Brayden said, grabbing a letter from the table infront of him.

"Brayden, don't move" Caroline snapped.

"How well did you know Pastor Young?" Brayden asked Caroline.

"I didn't know him personally, I just saw him around town, he seemed like a nice guy to me" Caroline informed.

"A nice crazy guy" Damon commented, taking the letter from Brayden's hand, "He wrote a letter about sacrifice and war brewing in Mystic Falls".

Kaitlynn read some of the letter over Damon's shoulder, "What the hell does he mean by a greater evil is coming?" she asked confused, "I thought the greater evil was already here, us, the big evil vampires".

"Right?!" Brayden said.

"Okay" Caroline said, as her and Kaitlynn took a step back from Brayden and Damon, "I think you're good".

Brayden and Damon glanced at each other, then both of them ripped the arrows out of their chests without blowing anything up.

After dropping Caroline home, Brayden came back to the boarding house and went to his room, entering it, he was shocked seeing all his things all over the room and a certain doppelganger searching through his stuff.

"Are you freaking kidding me?!" Brayden yelled, causing Elena to flinch in surprise.

Elena looked at Brayden, she wasn't expecting him to come home so soon, "I need bourbon to get through Rebekah's party, yours is better then Damon and Stefan's".

"You are not touching any of my alcohol" Brayden snapped.

"Brayden--".

"How stupid do you think I am?" Brayden asked, taking a threatening step towards a slightly scared Elena, "I wasn't born yesterday Elena, I know you aren't looking for alcohol, I will never leave the last remaining white oak stake for stupid vampires like you to get their hands on it".

"I'm not here for the white oak stake" Elena lied.

Brayden cocked an eyebrow at Elena, "Then what are you here for?" he asked, walking over to his wardrobe and pulling out a grey shirt.

"Did you know the hunter you were looking for was at my school today" Elena said, trying to divert the subject.

"Of course I know, Jeremy told me everything" Brayden said.

"Why were you talking to Jeremy?" a confused Elena asked.

"Me and Jeremy are friends, Elena" Brayden replied, his back to Elena as he started taking his bloody shirt off.

"Brayden, don't bring him into this" Elena warned, staring at Brayden's toned back.

"Too late for that" Brayden simply said, using the shirt he just took off to wipe the blood off of his chest, once he was done, he turned and faced Elena, who quickly looked away, not wanting Brayden to see that he was effecting her, "I'm going to go shower and by the time I come back, if my room isn't like it used to be then Jeremy and this hunter is going be the least of your problems because you will have to deal with me, and we both know, you don't want to do that, so start putting everything back where it belongs".

After Brayden walked into his bathroom, Elena immediately started cleaning his room, for some reason she didn't want to disappoint him, she didn't want Brayden to be angry because of her.

Connor, the new hunter in Mystic Falls, entered the hospital storeroom in which Jeremy had led him to, entering it, he came face to face with both Brayden and Damon.

"Is a hospital really the best place for a people phobic?" Connor asked Brayden.

"Oh come on" Brayden said, "We both know I'm not a people phobic, I'm actually a vampire".

Connor glared at Brayden, and suddenly he pulled out his gun to shoot the brothers but before he could, an arrow hit his arm, causing his gun to fall to the floor, he tried to pick it up when another arrow came and hit his leg.

"Ooh" Damon commented, as Connor looked to the sides and realised the brothers had use the same trap on him that he had set on his caravan, a trap in which if he moved, he will blow up into pieces, "Stings, don't it?".

Connor ignored Damon and once again tried to grab his gun, but this time the gun was kicked away from him by Klaus.

"Hello, mate" Klaus greeted.

"Keep it up buddy, they'll be scraping you off the ceiling" Damon said, watching Connor trying to take the arrows out.

"You three are gonna kill me anyway" Connor snapped.

"Correct" Brayden said, giving Connor a smirk.

"Well, let's not be too hasty" Klaus said, "I feel like we're just getting to know each other".

"Let's start with the basics, where are you from?" Damon asked, "What do you know? Maybe you can cue us in on this greater evil, because me and my brother have fought this guy and there's nothing more evil than that".

"Yeah, truth be told, I'm as evil as it gets" Klaus bragged, making Brayden roll his eyes.

Truth be told, Brayden had no desire to team up with Klaus, if he was up to him he would right now be attacking Klaus for kissing Caroline but according to his brother, they needed Klaus to find out what Connor knows, so for now, Brayden let Klaus go, but that doesn't mean he will let him go next time.

"I'm not telling you anything" Connor spat, "You think if you kill me it's gonna be over? There's another waiting to take my place".

"You stupid hunters and your vague threats, ominous prophecies, oh and let's not forget about your disappearing tattoos" an annoyed Brayden said.

The smirk on Klaus's face fell hearing Brayden's words, "What do you mean, tattoos?" he asked.

"Don't bother, you can't see the damn thing" Damon replied.

Klaus kneeled down and came eye to eye with Connor, "There's more to you than meets the eye, isn't there?" he asked, Connor glared at Klaus and suddenly tried to stake him but Klaus quickly grabbed his wrist, "Nice try, but I'm faster than your average vampire", he twisted Connor's wrist and snatched the stake from his hand, he then looked at the logo that was craved into the stake, immediately a look of recognition came on his face, "You're one of The Five".

"His one of the what now?" Brayden asked confused with what was going on.

"I'm faster than your average hunter" Connor said, before Klaus could say anything.

Damon and Brayden looked at Connor and seeing his hands on the strings attached to the bombs, immediately made the twins realised what he was about to do so they quickly speeded out of the room just as Connor pulled the strings and caused the room to blow up.

Elena, who had gone to Rebekah's party, ended up drinking out of the keg that Connor had poisoned with werewolf venom, currently she laid in her bed while both Jeremy and Matt tried to get either Klaus or any of the brothers to come and help her but for some reason it seemed like none of them wanted to answer their phones today.

"Hey" Matt said, sitting infront of an delirious Elena.

Elena gave Matt a small smile, but pain suddenly shot their body, causing her to close her eyes, the next time she opened it, she didn't see Matt infront of her, she saw Brayden.

"Why am I thinking about you?" a confused Elena asked.

"Because we're finally alike Elena" Brayden replied, "Come on, we both know, you're more like me then you think".

Elena didn't say anything just closed her eyes and let Brayden's words sink in.

Jeremy entered his sister's room, "Klaus is here" he informed Matt, "He's waiting for Elena at the door, I told him I'm not going to invite him inside".

Matt nodded in understanding, he quickly picked Elena up in his arms and carried her downstairs so Klaus can heal her.

"So the sniper was inside?" Carol asked Brayden and Damon as they stood by the burnt hospital wing.

"Yup, still is" Damon replied, "In tiny little pieces".

"Good" Carol said, "I'll cancel the curfew and call off the extra patrols, I can't say I approve of your methods".

"Relax Carol, we'll pay for this" Brayden assured, "Maybe then you can name the wing after the Salvatores?".

Carol chuckled hearing Brayden, she then went to asses the damage while Brayden and Damon walked out.

"Doc" Damon called out, seeing Meredith in the hospital corridor, "Nice job".

"You two told me the plan was to lead him to the storage room" Meredith reminded.

"And we did, congrats" Damon said.

"You left out the part about blowing up a hospital with patients who are sick" Meredith snapped, "And fragile, and who don't need things exploding down the hall from them".

"Oh cut the, I care about my patients, crap" Brayden snapped, "If you cared so much about your patients you wouldn't give them vampire blood and risk them turning without their will, so save us the lecture because you are not as innocent as you claim to be, and no one got hurt, I'm not an idiot, I had already compelled some doctors to move the patients who could have gotten hurt, now excuse me, it's been a long day and I will like to see my girl before this day ends".

And with that Brayden walked away from Meredith and his brother.

Brayden stepped out of the hospital, he pulled his phone out to call Caroline but before he could, Elena's name popped up on his screen.

Brayden sighed in annoyance, "What now?" he asked, answering his phone.

"Brayden" Elena cried, "I killed Matt".

Brayden rubbed his forehead, already feeling a headache coming, "I'm on my way" he said, realising once again he had to fix other people's messes.

Brayden looked at a dead Matt, who Elena had moved to the Gilbert's living room.

"Well, he'll survive" Brayden said, seeing the Gilbert ring on his finger, "Now, mind telling me how exactly you killed him?".

"I was hungry so I called Matt because blood from the vein is the only blood I can keep down and then when I tasted Matt's blood, I couldn't stop drinking, I realised what I did when he fell to the floor, dead" a panicked Elena cried.

Brayden sighed, "Okay, first things first, when he wakes up you're going to need to compel him to forget that you killed him, otherwise he's never going to trust you again".

Elena nodded in understanding, she then looked at Brayden, "What have I done, Brayden?" she asked.

"Relax Elena, you did what all vampires do" Brayden said, "What Stefan taught you is all wrong, you need to learn how to be a vampire the right way so in the future you can avoid accidents like this".

Elena looked at Brayden, "Teach me" she suddenly said, "Brayden, you're the only one who can teach me how to be a vampire, please Brayden, you have to help me otherwise I'm scared next time I attack someone it will be Jeremy".

"Dammit" a frustrated Brayden whispered, stuck between two roads, he didn't want Jeremy to get hurt but at the same time, he didn't want to teach Elena either, Brayden looked at a dead Matt then at an hopeful Elena, after a moment of hesitation he finally nodded, "Fine" he said, "I'll teach you how to be a vampire".
