05. The Reckoning

The day that Caroline Forbes has been anticipating since she entered high school had finally arrived, it was finally senior prank night. Which is why Caroline had forced everyone, even Fae to come to the school so they can prank everyone, this was her chance of distracting herself from Brayden and his thoughts and she was taking this opportunity otherwise she was going to lose her mind if she kept thinking about the middle Salvatore.

"Oh, come on! Seriously?" Caroline complained, as Matt entered the classroom and sat off all the mouse traps they had set on the floor, "Do you know how long it took to set this up?".

"Forgot about Senior Prank Night, huh?" Tyler asked amused.

"Clearly" Matt replied.

"How could you forget?" Caroline asked shocked, "We've only been waiting for this since like freshman year".

"Yeah, Matt, I don't even go here and I'm taking part in this" Fae said.

"You're saying like Caroline gave you a choice" Tyler teased.

"She threatened me" Fae revealed, making Tyler laugh and Caroline glare at her.

"I'm kind of surprised any of you are doing this" Matt confessed.

"Caroline's making us" Bonnie said, standing next to Elena.

"We're about to be seniors" Caroline reminded, "These are the memories that will stay with us forever, and if we don't--".

"Create these memories now, then what's the point of it all?" Fae finished, "Right?".

"Go ahead and make fun, I don't care" Caroline said.

"You're all lame, and I've got ten more classrooms to prank" Tyler said.

"I'm coming with you" Fae said, making Caroline smile.

"I love you!" Caroline yelled as Tyler and Fae walked out the classroom.

"I know!" Fae yelled back, making Caroline laugh.

"Hey, where are you going?" Bonnie asked Elena, seeing her also walk out.

"To superglue Alaric's desk shut, I'm making memories" Elena replied.

"Yes!" Caroline said, "You do that, I'm going to put toilet paper all over the gym".

Caroline walked out the classroom, she smiled seeing Tyler and Fae putting honey on the doorknobs, she walked further and pushed open a set of double doors, but before she could walk any further, she bumped into a hard body, looking up, she was shocked seeing Klaus standing infront of her.

"There's one of my girls" Klaus said.

"Klaus" Caroline whispered.

Klaus smirked, "You're supposed to be dead" he said, "And if you're alive it means the doppelganger is also alive, so what are we gonna do about that?".

"Are any of you hungry? Let's stop for a bite" Katherine said, sitting in the backseat of the car while Damon drove and Kaitlynn sat in the passenger seat, after much arguing with her sister, "A truck stop, or a trucker".

"Oh, stop being cute" Damon said.

"It's not possible" Katherine simply said.

"It's in our genes" Kaitlynn added, making Katherine smirk.

Damon rolled his eyes at the sisters, "I've been driving around aimlessly for hours, where we going?" he asked Katherine.

"Far enough away so that you two can't go running back" Katherine replied.

"This better be good Katherine, I'm missing the perfect opportunity to prank Fae and Caroline" Kaitlynn complained, putting her feet up on the dashboard.

"Stop doing that" Damon snapped, pushing Kaitlynn's foot off of the dashboard.

"Do that again and next time my feet are going on your lap" Kaitlynn threatened, making a small smirk to form on Damon's face.

"Why not just keep your feet down?" Damon asked, before Kaitlynn could see his facial expression.

"I need to straighten my legs" Kaitlynn replied, "They get tired in one position".

"Question" Katherine said, interrupting Damon and Kaitlynn, much to both their annoyance, "If I was to kiss Damon, what will both your reactions be?".

"Don't go near him" Kaitlynn snapped, glaring at her sister.

Katherine smirked at her sister, "Why Kait? Feeling jealous?".

Kaitlynn scoffed, "I have no reason to be jealous".

"Liar" Katherine sing-songed, "The big bad brother is starting to make a place for himself in your heart, isn't he?".

Kaitlynn looked at Damon, who was already staring at her, "I don't have feelings for you" she stated.

"Never said you did" Damon assured.

"God, you two are pathetic" Katherine complained, "Damon, if my sister won't sleep with you, I gladly will".

Kaitlynn looked out the window, making sure Katherine and Damon didn't say her furious expression.

Damon looked towards Kaitlynn, he didn't have to look at her face to know her expression, making a feeling of hope form in his heart, "No thanks" he told Katherine, "Truth is, you just don't do it for me anymore".

"Then who does it for you?" Katherine asked, looking behind Kaitlynn and Damon.

"Your sister" Damon replied simply.

Kaitlynn turned and looked at Damon, her eyes wide in shock, "What?" she asked, not sure if she heard Damon correctly.

"You heard me" Damon said, looking ahead at the road, his signature smirk on his face.

"I hate you" Kaitlynn mumbled, once again looking out the window.

"No you don't" Both Damon and Katherine said stimuteanously, making Kaitlynn want to bang her head somewhere in frustration.

Brayden groaned in pain and slowly opened his eyes, he realised he was still in the back of the truck Klaus had placed him in, with an unconscious Stefan laying next to him.

"Ah, one of them lives" Rebekah said, after realising that Brayden was awake.

"What the hell happened?" Brayden asked, rubbing his sore neck.

"You and your brother took a beating" Rebekah replied, "My brother's been breaking both your necks, quite the temper".

"Why did you and your psychotic brother bring us back to Mystic Falls?" Brayden asked, standing up.

"You can stop playing dumb now" Rebekah said, "It didn't take him long to figure out what you've been hiding".

"And what might that be?" Brayden challenged, really hoping Klaus hadn't found out about Caroline.

"You and your brother failed to mention that the doppelganger and female soulmate are still alive" Rebekah said.

"Oh, how bad of me to protect my soulmate from your evil brother?" Brayden said sarcastically, fury evident in his eyes, "Where is that asshole, Rebekah?".

"With any luck, ripping those cow's bloody heads off" Rebekah replied.

Brayden glared at Rebekah and before the Original could realise, she was shoved to the floor with a furious Brayden chocking her, "If he hurts her, you all are dead!".

"You really do love her, don't you?" Rebekah asked, having trouble to breathe with Brayden's hand on her neck.

"More then you or brother will ever realise" Brayden replied.

Rebekah glared at Brayden, and suddenly, Brayden's hand was removed from her neck, she then headbutted him and pushed him away from her.

"How could you do that to him?!" Rebekah asked, glaring at the Salvatore, "How could you forget Kol?".

"Are you serious?!" Brayden yelled, "I didn't forget Kol, I was forced to forget him by your narcissistic brother, and for the love of god, stop pretending to be a good sister to Kol, you and me both know, if it came down to it you will always choose Elijah and Klaus over Kol, you never loved him as much as you loved Elijah and Klaus".

Rebekah glared at Brayden, his words raising a guilty feeling in her heart, but before that feeling could overpower her sense she speeded over to Brayden and shoved a crowbar into his stomach.

"Bitch!" Brayden yelled in pain.

"You two have put a large kink in my plans, the point of breaking the curse and becoming a hybrid was to make more hybrids" Klaus said, as he dragged Caroline and Elena with him, having found Elena in the hallway as well, "I haven't been able to do that, now my bet it has something to do with that fact that you two are still breathing".

"If you're gonna kill us, just do it" Elena snapped.

"Not until I know I'm right" Klaus said, "But I do have ways of making you two suffer", Klaus pushed the two girls into the gym, where a bunch of other seniors were also present, "Attention, seniors! You have officially been busted, Prank Night is over, head on home", Klaus eyes landed on two familiar faces, "You two, I remember you".

"Sorry, who are you?" A confused Dana asked.

"Oh don't worry, I wasn't in my right head last we met" Klaus replied, he then started compelling Dana, "Lift your foot up please, Dana", he then turned to Chad, "If she drops her foot, Chad, I want you to beat her to death, understood?".

"No" Caroline whispered.

"Don't, Klaus" Elena pleaded, "You don't have to hurt anybody".

"Come on, love, of course I do" Klaus said

"Why are we stopping?" Katherine asked, as Damon stopped the car and him and Kaitlynn came out.

"Need to stretch my legs" Kaitlynn replied.

"And I'm tired of driving, Kait, it's your turn" Damon said.

"Not happening" Kaitlynn said, bending down and touching her toes.

"Give it, I'll drive" Katherine said, walking over to Damon.

Before Katherine could take the keys off of him, Damon threw the keys into the bushes.

"Hey!" Katherine snapped.

"We're not going anywhere until you spill your guts" Damon stated.

"I'm going to have to agree with him on that" Kaitlynn said, looking at her sister for answers.

Katherine scoffed, "Fine" she said, pulling out Elena's necklace out of her pocket, "You two recognise this? A little birdie told me that Klaus wants to get his hands on it".

"Why would Klaus want Elena's necklace?" Damon asked confused.

"Does it matter?" Katherine retorted, "He wants it and I have it, it's leverage, Damon, always stay one step ahead of your enemy".

"I'll keep that in mind" Damon said.

"But more importantly when I stole the necklace from Bonnie, I found out something better" Katherine said.

"Which is what?" Kaitlynn asked curiously.

Katherine walked over to the back of the car, "Are you two willing to do whatever it takes to stop Klaus? No turning back?" she asked.

"We're not turning back" Damon assured, while Kaitlynn simply nodded.

"Good" Katherine said, opening the boot of the car, "Because this isn't gonna win any of you any points at home".

Damon and Kaitlynn exchanged a confused look, they walked over to Katherine and looked into the boot, only to see an unconscious Jeremy laying there.

"Are you serious, Katherine?!" Kaitlynn yelled, checking Jeremy's pulse and breathing a sigh of relief when she realised he was still alive.

"Jeremy? Really?" Damon asked Katherine, who in turn just smirked.

"Keep it up" Klaus ordered Dana after seeing her stumbling.

"Where's Brayden and Stefan?" A worried Caroline asked.

"What'd you do to them?" Elena asked.

"Stefan and Brayden are on a time-out" Klaus replied, really not helping with Caroline's worry.

"Bonnie, get out of here!" Elena yelled, seeing the gym doors open and Bonnie and Matt enter the gym.

"I was wondering when you'd show up, guaranteed I was hoping to have a word with your ancestor, but you will do" Klaus said, speeding over to a shocked Bonnie, "Uh, Dana, why don't you relax? You and Chad sit tight", Klaus turned back to Bonnie, "I know you're not strong enough to bring a soulmate back to life, so I'm going to go on a limb and say that was your ancestor's doing, but I assume you're the reason Elena's still walking around alive".

"That's right, if you wanna blame someone, blame me and Fae" Bonnie said.

"Oh, there's no need for blame, love, just yours and Fae's witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects" Klaus said, "And since you caused the problem, I'm gonna have you find the fix".

"Uh, get off of me" Tyler complained, as Rebekah dragged him and Fae into the  gym.

Caroline frowned seeing a pair of hand cuffs on Fae's hands, "Why is she handcuffed?".

"I need her to be present here and I can't have her using her magic, therefore the anti magic handcuffs retrieved from Gloria, before your boyfriend killed her" Klaus replied, "Anyways, I'd like you all to meet my sister, Rebekah, a word of warning, she can be quite mean".

"Don't be an ass" Rebekah snapped.

"Let him go" Fae snapped, seeing Rebekah shove Tyler towards Klaus.

"I'm gonna make this very simple" Klaus said, "Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition, it's quite horrible, actually", Klaus bit into his wrist and forced his blood down Tyler's throat, Fae and Caroline tried to rush towards him but Rebekah quickly grabbed the two girls, "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie, and for Tyler's sake, you'd better hurry", everyone gasped in shock when Klaus snapped Tyler's neck, killing him.

"He killed him" Matt said in shock, as he, Fae and Caroline kneeled by Tyler.

"He's not dead" Fae said, looking at an unconscious Tyler in concern.

"Fae's right" Elena said, "Klaus's blood will turn him into a vampire".

"And if Bonnie's successful he'll live through his transition, go on then" Klaus told Bonnie, "Go fetch your Grimoires and enchantments and whatnot, I'll hold on to Elena, Fae and Caroline for safekeeping".

"Let me help her" Fae said.

"No, I need you here" Klaus said.

"Why?" Fae asked confused.

"You're here for Stefan" Klaus replied simply, confusing everyone.

Elena looked at Bonnie and gave her a small nod, and after a little bit of hesitation, Bonnie along with Matt left the gym to find a way to save Tyler.

"So this is the latest doppelganger" Rebekah said, looking at Elena, "The original one was much prettier".

"Enough, Rebekah" Klaus warned, "Take the wolf-boy elsewhere, would you?".

After giving the girls a mock smile, Rebekah dragged Tyler out of the gym.

"Just ignore her" Klaus told the three girls, "Petty little thing".

Damon placed an unconscious Jeremy on the table, "I'm listening" he told Katherine.

"What if I told you both that there was a way to kill Klaus?" Katherine asked, "And not dagger dead, 'dead' dead".

"I'd say you were desperate and lying, or drunk" Damon replied, "Or a desperate, lying drunk".

"Kait, you remember Pearl?" Katherine asked.

"Yeah, why?" Kaitlynn asked, confused as to why her sister was talking about their dead friend.

"Centuries ago, she told me about a vampire who knew how to kill Klaus" Katherine replied, "Then she wouldn't tell me any more".

"And why's that?" Kaitlynn asked.

"Because it was her leverage, she knew it was valuable information and wouldn't share it with me" Katherine replied.

"How come you never told me this?" Kaitlynn asked.

"You had amnesia, telling you about the vampire hunter meant telling you about Klaus and then Elijah, something I didn't want you to know" Katherine replied.

"Well, this is all great but Pearl is dead" Damon reminded Katherine.

"Which is why I never brought it up" Katherine said, "She only ever told one other person".

"Who?" Damon asked.

"Her daughter" Katherine replied, "Anna".

"Also dead" Damon snapped.

"Which brings us right back around to--".

"To me" Jeremy interrupted, gaining everyone's attention, "Back around to me".

Fae and Caroline sat on the benches, while Elena comforted Dana, suddenly the gym doors opened and in came Brayden and Stefan, making a small smile form on both Fae and Caroline's faces.

"Klaus" Stefan greeted.

"Come to save your damsels?" Klaus asked.

"We came to ask for your forgiveness and pledge our loyalty" Stefan replied, making Brayden roll his eyes.

"I'm not sure your brother agrees with you" Klaus said.

Brayden ignored Klaus and turned to Caroline, "Did he hurt you?" he asked.

Caroline shook her head, "Are you okay?" she asked, her eyes landing on the blood stain on Brayden's shirt.

Brayden looked at Caroline, and even with him not saying anything, Caroline could tell that Brayden wasn't okay, all both of them wanted to do was hug each other and be in each other's arms, but they knew right now wasn't the time.

"Elena means nothing to me anymore" Stefan said, bringing his attention away from Brayden and Caroline.

"I believe that, but what about Fae?" Klaus asked, walking over to Fae, "What does she mean to you?".

Fae looked at Stefan, who avoided eye contact with her, knowing if he looked into her eyes he would break.

"Whatever you ask of me I will do" Stefan told Klaus, ignoring his question about Fae.

"Fair enough" Klaus said, "Both of you, let's drink on it, kill them", Klaus pointed towards Dana and Chad, "What are you waiting for? Kill them".

Brayden looked at Caroline, who was shaking her head, telling him not to do this, but Brayden was afraid if he didn't listen then Klaus will harm Caroline, something Brayden could not tolerate.

"No, Stefan, don't" Elena cried.

"Stefan, Brayden, don't do this" Fae pleaded, "Don't give into him".

"Please" Caroline said, "You two are stronger then this".

Brayden and Stefan looked at each other, both the brothers confused with what to do, seeing the brothers dilemma, Klaus grabbed a wooden mop that was placed on the floor, he broke it in half and threw it towards Caroline and Fae, hitting both of them on their shoulder, angering Stefan and Brayden.

The brothers growled and rushed at Klaus, Brayden punched Klaus in the face, before any of the brothers could get anymore hits, Klaus held them by their necks.

"Let them go, we'll do whatever you want, you have our word" Stefan pleaded.

"Your word doesn't mean much, I lived by both your words all summer during which time I never had to resort to this" Klaus said, starting to compel both the brothers.

"Don't" Brayden warned, realising what was happening, "Don't do this Klaus".

"Stop fighting" Klaus compelled the two brothers.

"Don't do this, don't do this" Stefan pleaded.

"I didn't want to" Klaus said, "All I wanted was both your allegiance, now I'm gonna have to take it".

"Stop!" Brayden snapped.

"You two will do exactly as I say, when I say it, none of you will run" Klaus compelled, "You will not hide, you will simply, just obey".

Klaus let go of the brothers and watched as they stood there still.

"No!" Fae yelled, trying to snap the handcuffs in her hand by failing, Caroline tired to help but for some reason the handcuffs ended up burning her.

"Now, kill them" Klaus ordered the brothers.

Brayden and Stefan looked towards Dana and Chad, before anyone could stop them Stefan had bit into Chad, while Brayden bit into Dana.

"This isn't gonna work" Jeremy complained.

"I think your witchy girlfriend's worried that you ran away with your ghostly lover" Katherine said, showing Jeremy Bonnie's text. 

"Stop with the teenybopper drama, focus" Damon snapped.

Jeremy sighed, he closed his eyes and called out to Anna, suddenly he turned around and talked to someone Damon, Kaitlynn and Katherine couldn't see, "It's okay to help, they're looking for a way to stop Klaus".

"Jer, what is she saying?" Kaitlynn asked.

"She doesn't wanna help Damon and Katherine" Jeremy revealed.

Katherine cleared her throat and leaned closer to Damon, "My advice?" she said, "If you wanna make an omelet, you have to break a few legs".

"That's the stupidest advice I've ever head" Kaitlynn snapped.

"Jeremy, I just want you to know, it's nothing personal" Damon said, walking over to Jeremy.

"Damon, don't" Kaitlynn said, having a feeling of what the oldest Salvatore was about to do.

Damon ignored Kaitlynn and grabbed Jeremy's head and slammed it on the table.

"Ow! What the hell?!" Jeremy yelled.

"Damon, stop!" Kaitlynn yelled, trying to walk over to them but Katherine grabbed her.

"Anna, I know you can hear me, tell us what you know" Damon said, "The sooner, the better for your little boyfriend here".

"Mikael!" Jeremy suddenly yelled, shoving Damon away from him.

"Mikael? Is that his name?" Katherine asked, finally letting for of Kaitlynn, who was glaring at Damon and Katherine.

"Who's Mikael?" Damon asked, he looked at Jeremy and hit the back of his head.

"What is wrong with you?" Kaitlynn said, shoving Damon away from Jeremy.

"He's a vampire and a hunter, and you guys would be idiots to wake him" Jeremy said, telling Kaitlynn and ignoring Damon and Katherine.

"Wake him?" Kaitlynn asked confused.

"What do you mean, wake him?" Jeremy asked, looking in the space the trio guessed Anna was.

"It's time to go find the keys" Damon realised.

"Go find a new brain as well" Kaitlynn snapped.

"It's always nice to see vampires in their true element" Klaus told the three shocked girls, who were watching Brayden and Stefan kill Chad and Dana, "The species has become such a broody lot".

"No, you did this to them" Elena snapped.

"I invited them to the party, love, they're the ones dancing on the table" Klaus said.

"Where is it?" A furious Rebekah asked, barging into the gym, Bonnie's phone in her hand, "Where's my necklace?".

"What are you talking about?" Klaus asked confused.

"She has my necklace, look" Rebekah said, showing Klaus a picture of Elena with Bonnie, the necklace Klaus and Rebekah looking for placed around her neck.

"Well, well, more lies" Klaus realised.

"Where is it?" Rebekah asked Elena.

"I don't have it anymore" Elena replied.

"You're lying!" Rebekah yelled, rushing over to Elena and biting into her neck.

"Knock it off!" Klaus yelled, pulling Rebekah away from Elena.

"Make her tell me where it is, Nik" Rebekah snapped, as Elena fell to the floor.

Klaus kneeled infront of Elena, "Where's the necklace, sweetheart? Be honest".

"I'm telling the truth, Katherine stole it" Elena replied.

"Katerina" Klaus said, "Of course", Klaus stood up, "Well, that's unfortunate, if we had the necklace it'd make things a whole lot easier for your witch, but since we're doing this the hard way, let's put a clock on it, shall we?", Klaus walked over to the gym clock buzzer and pressed it, "Twenty minutes, if Bonnie hasn't found a solution by then, I want you two to hurt more people, only this time, you will be hurting your precious Fae and Caroline".

"Don't" Fae pleaded, "Don't turn them into something they aren't".

"No one leaves, if any of them try to run, snap their neck" Klaus stated, grabbing Elena and taking her out of the gym, leaving Stefan, Fae, Brayden and Caroline alone, with the gym clock ticking behind them.

"Don't fall asleep, Jer, you might have a concussion" Damon warned.

"Thanks for the concern, dick" Jeremy said.

"Oh, stop pouting" Katherine said, "You took one for the team, everyone home will thank you once Klaus is dead".

"Where's my phone?" Kaitlynn asked her sister.

"Do you need to check in with your besties?" Katherine teased.

"I know you have my phone and I bet you also have Damon's" Kaitlynn snapped.

"What can I say? I needed you both present, here and now" Katherine said.

"Phone, now!" Kaitlynn demanded, glaring at her sister.

Katherine sighed but nonetheless handed Kaitlynn her and Damon's phones.

"Dammit!" Kaitlynn snapped, reading Fae and Caroline's texts.

"What is it?" Jeremy asked.

"It's Klaus" Kaitlynn informed, showing Damon the texts.

"No turning back, Kait" Katherine reminded.

"Shut up, Katherine" Kaitlynn snapped, she took the keys from Damon, "I'm going back, my best friends need me, you can stay here if you want".

"You're an idiot if you think I'm letting you deal with Klaus alone" Damon said.

"Hey, look at the big picture" Katherine told Damon, "The best shot at taking out Klaus is by finding Mikael, let Kaitlynn go alone, she can handle herself".

Damon looked in Kaitlynn's direction and realised she had already walked over to the car, so he turned to Jeremy, "Stay with her so Anna can guide you, I'm going back with Kaitlynn, I need to make sure she doesn't get herself killed".

"In trying to save my sister, you're gonna get yourself killed" Katherine snapped, "The Damon I remember wouldn't have been that stupid".

Damon glanced at Kaitlynn, who was impatiently waiting for him, he then turned to Katherine, "I wouldn't have done it for you" he said, walking over to Kaitlynn and leaving behind a shocked Damon.

"You two need to calm down" Fae told the brothers, "Pacing back and forth isn't going to help anyone".

"Five minutes, Fae" Stefan snapped, "In five minutes me and Brayden are going to hurt the two girls we never wanted to hurt!".

"No" Caroline snapped, looking at her soulmate who refused to look at her, "You are Brayden freaking Salvatore, when was the last time you did what you were asked to do?!".

"This is different, Caroline" Brayden snapped, "This is compulsion, something I don't know how to fight".

"We'll then learn" Caroline said, "You have to learn how to fight it, Brayden, not for me, but for us, for our love, don't let Klaus win Brayden, please".

"Why should I fight it?" Brayden asked, "Because we are soulmates, because I love you?".

"Yes!" Caroline yelled, "Because you are the one person who isn't supposed to hurt me!".

"I don't want to hurt you!" Brayden yelled back, "That day in Chicago, only I know how much pain I was in seeing you in tears but I knew that was necessary to keep you safe Caroline, everything I do and I've done, is to keep you safe because you are the one thing that's stopping me from becoming someone you can never love, but right now, I can't be your Brayden, I'm just a puppet in Klaus's hands".

Caroline shook her head, "No" she stated, "Fight Brayden, please, fight through this".

Brayden looked at Caroline, his eyes then landed on the two bloody stakes on the floor, the stakes Klaus used to hurt Fae and Caroline, an idea suddenly forming in his head.

"You ready?" Brayden asked Caroline, just as there was ten seconds left on the clock.

"Is this really necessary?" Caroline asked.

"If you don't want me to hurt you, or for Stefan to hurt Fae, then you two need to hurt us" Brayden stated.

"And then you two need to run" Stefan stated.

"But--".

"No buts, Fae" Stefan snapped, "You need to stake us, right below our hearts".

"Now!" Brayden demanded.

Caroline and Fae looked at each other, and with heavy hurts, the two girls rushed towards their respective lovers and staked them right below their heart.

"I love you" Caroline whispered to Brayden.

"Run" Brayden whispered, laying on the floor in pain.

"Now!" Stefan yelled, just as the buzzer went off.

After sparing Stefan and Brayden one last glance, Caroline and Fae rushed out the gym.

While running, Caroline and Fae had somehow managed to separate from each other.

Caroline entered a classroom and quickly locked the door behind her, she turned around and gasped in shock seeing Klaus infront of her.

"Well, this is interesting" Klaus said.

After Brayden had removed the stake from his chest, he left his brother and tried to make his way out of the school and not give into Klaus's compulsion.

"Come on" Brayden whispered, trying not to give in to the voice in his head that was telling him to go and attack Caroline, a voice that was getting really hard to ignore.

"Now, this is fascinating" Klaus stated, dragging Caroline towards Brayden, who held on to the table with everything he had in order to stop himself from attacking Caroline, "I've never seen this before, your love for this one girl has the ability to resist my compulsion, so why don't you turn it off?".

"Go screw yourself!" Brayden snapped.

"Come on, your love for her is killing you" Klaus said, "So just turn it off".

"Never!" Brayden said.

"Brayden" Caroline whispered, "I love you, please, hold on to that".

Brayden looked at Caroline, he was trying, he really was trying to hold on to that but it was proving too hard.

"You're strong, but you're not that strong" Klaus told Brayden, he walked over to him, "Turn it off".

"I don't think you heard me!" Brayden said, shoving Klaus away from him, "I said, no!".

Klaus glared at Brayden, he then rushed towards him and shoved him into a wall, "Turn it off!" he yelled.

Caroline watched in horror as she watched all the emotions suddenly leave Brayden's eyes, when he opened his eyes next, Caroline saw no emotions, the eyes that always used to look at her with love, were now looking at her with nothing, scaring the Forbes girl.

"Why?" Caroline cried, "Why would do that to him?".

"You should thank me, I fixed your boyfriend" Klaus said, "Now excuse me, I have to go find Stefan and Fae".

Klaus walked out the room, leaving behind a terrified Caroline and an emotionless Brayden.

"Here" Kaitlynn said, handing her two best friends a glass of bourbon each.

After dealing with Brayden, Klaus had also found Stefan and forced him to turn his humanity off just like his older brother, and just like Caroline, all Fae could do was watch as the love of her life was stripped off of his emotions.

"Well, Klaus has been taken care of" Damon informed, entering the living room, "He won't bother us for a few days at least".

"What do you mean?" Kaitlynn asked confused.

"I told him about us waking Mikael up" Damon replied, "Turns out, Katherine was right, there is someone out who scares the big bad hybrid", Damon turned to the two silent girls, "You two okay?".

"I really lost him this time" Fae whispered, tears welling in her eyes.

"We were there" Caroline said, "Me and Fae watched as Klaus took away the very thing Brayden and Stefan were trying so hard not to turn off the whole summer".

"Hey, listen to me" Kaitlynn told the two devasted girls, "If there is anything in this world I believe in, it's your guys love for those two, and I believe that your love is the thing that is going to be bring those two back from Klaus's clutches".

"Where were you two?" Fae asked.

Damon sighed, "We shouldn't have left" he said, feeling guilty.

"I'm sorry for leaving you two when you needed me the most" Kaitlynn apologised, "But I promise, I won't leave again".

"No matter what?" Fae asked.

"No matter what" Kaitlynn replied.

"Till we get the old Stefan and Brayden back, you two are my responsibility, and I promise not only Kaitlynn, but I also won't leave you two alone" Damon said, making both Fae and Caroline give him a small smile.

"Aww, isn't that sweet", a voice said, causing the the group of four to turn and see Brayden standing on the entrance of the living room.

"What are you doing here, brother?" Damon asked, as he and Kaitlynn quickly stood infront of Fae and Caroline.

"Do you have memory loss, brother?" Brayden teased, "This is my house, I live here, where else am I meant to go?".

"We live here" Stefan corrected, walking over to his brother, "Klaus is gone, but he's asked us to keep watch on Elena until he returns".

"Elena?" Kaitlynn asked confused.

"Elena's blood is the key to his hybrids" Brayden informed, "And even though I could careless about her safety, me and Stefan have no choice but to listen to Klaus, you know compulsion and all".

"I didn't think I would see the day someone would force Brayden Salvatore to do something he doesn't want to do" Caroline said.

Brayden smirked at Caroline, "Careful Caroline, I'm no longer the Brayden who would die for you, be careful with your words otherwise they might end up causing you pain".

"I don't believe you" Caroline said, standing up from the couch and staring at her soulmate, "Humanity on or off, you won't hurt me".

"Now you're just being pathetic" Brayden taunted.

"No, I'm believing in my love" Caroline retorted.

"No, you're challenging a vampire who has no humanity, you're going to get yourself seriously hurt if you continue with his attitude" Brayden said, walking out of the living room.

"By all means, carry on whatever you four were doing" Stefan said, also walking out of the living room.

Once Stefan and Brayden left, the group of four glanced in each worry, none of them knew what to do to bring Brayden and Stefan back to then, but despite that, they all knew one thing, they weren't going to give up until the two brothers turned their humanity back on.
