18. Resident Evil

"Thank you" Kaitlynn said, smiling at the florist and taking the bouquet of stargazers from her hand, while smelling the flowers Kaitlynn stepped out of the flower shop, being distracted she didn't see where she was going causing her to crash into someone the moment she stepped out.

"Woah, careful" Brayden said, placing his hands on Kaitlynn's waist and steadying her before she could fall, "Are you okay?".

Kaitlynn looked at Brayden and for a moment she was stunned, "Um, yeah, I'm okay" she finally said, "I'm really sorry I was distracted and wasn't looking where I was walking".

"Good flowers tend to distract a flower lover from the world around them" Brayden teased.

Kaitlynn chuckled, "Have I met another flower lover?".

"Potentially" Brayden said.

Kaitlynn smiled at Brayden, "I'm Kaitlynn" she introduced, forwarding her hand towards the man infront of her.

Brayden smiled, "I'm Brayden" he introduced, shaking Kaitlynn's hand.

In the real world, Brayden was pulled back into reality when his younger brother grabbed his arm and pulled him from the middle of the road before a car could hit him, "Where the hell are you lost, Brayden?!" a concerned Stefan yelled at his brother.

"You won't believe what I just saw" an extremely confused Brayden told his brother.

At Whitmore, Kaitlynn let out a gasp and shot up in her bed in a panic, "You okay?" a concerned Caroline asked, standing by her dresser and getting ready for the day.

"I have no idea" a extremely disoriented Kaitlynn whispered, "I just had the weirdest dream".

Caroline and Kaitlynn entered the grill together, looking around Caroline let out an annoyed sigh, "Well,  I guess my mom's not here yet, I'm going to get us some coffees".

"Sounds like a plan" Kaitlynn mumbled.

Once Caroline had walked away, Kaitlynn took a step forward towards a table, when her keys in her hand, suddenly pulled her into another vision of her and Brayden.

After their first date together, Brayden and Kaitlynn walked down the streets of Mystic Falls and towards Kaitlynn's home, when Kaitlynn's house keys accidentally slipped from her hands.

"Here, let me" Brayden said, grabbing the keys before Kaitlynn could even think about it bending down, "Here you go".

Kaitlynn smiled at Brayden and took the keys from his hand, "Thanks, I'm going to need these to get into my house, pretty sure my sister isn't going to open the door for me this late".

"Don't worry, my brothers are the same" Brayden said.

Kaitlynn chuckled, she then looked at Brayden, "Are you going to admit it now?".

"Admit what?" a confused Brayden asked.

"The fact that you hated the movie" Kaitlynn said.

"No, I didn't hate it, I just couldn't pay attention to it" Brayden defended.

"And why's that?" a curious Kaitlynn asked.

"I was too distracted by you" Brayden admitted, making a huge smile form on Kaitlynn's face.

"You know, we should do this again sometime" Kaitlynn said.

"Yeah?" a smiling Brayden asked.

"Yeah" Kaitlynn confirmed.

"But I have one condition" Brayden informed.

"Which is?" a slightly confused Kaitlynn asked.

"I need a kiss" Brayden stated.

Kaitlynn laughed, "That can certainly be arranged" she said, as both her and Brayden stopped walking, they faced each other and Brayden took a step closer to Kaitlynn, he placed one of his hands on her cheek and slowly started leaning forward and Kaitlynn met him halfway, eventually their lips touched each other and the two had their first kiss under the very stars both of them adored so much.

"See you at dinner" Brayden whispered against Kaitlynn's lips.

"See you at dinner" Kaitlynn smiled, before placing her hand behind Brayden's neck and pulling him into another kiss, this kiss much heated then the last.

"My mom's give minutes away" Caroline's voice ended up bringing Kaitlynn back to reality, "Kaitlynn? Hello? Kaitlynn?".

Kaitlynn let out a gasp and looked at her best friend with her eyes wide open in shock, she looked around and realised they were not sitting at a table, "When the hell did I get here? I swear I was just standing at the door".

 "Uh, you walked?" a slightly confused and worried Caroline said, when suddenly her eyes went wide in realisation, "Hang on, did you just have one of those dreams? Like, right here?".

"It didn't feel like a dream though Caroline, it felt like reality, like I was actually there, experiencing everything" Kaitlynn admitted.

A slightly jealous Caroline nodded her head and grabbed her cup of coffee, "Weird" she commented, a slightly bitter tone in her voice as she took a sip of coffee.

A guilty look formed on Kaitlynn's face, "God Care, I'm so sorry, I know the last thing you want to hear is about your best friend dreaming about your boyfriend".

Caroline let out a sigh, "No girlfriend's going to like her best friend who also happens to be her boyfriend's ex, dreaming about her boyfriend" she admitted, "But, I also know both you and Brayden, I trust you both and even though I am feeling a bit insecure, I will have full faith that this is something solvable and not the universe pushing you two together".

"It was weird Care, it wasn't just that I was human, but Katherine was still alive and from what I could tell, she was human as well" Kaitlynn informed.

Caroline opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, her phone started ringing, looking at it, she realised her boyfriend was calling, "Brayden, hey".

"I love you" Brayden said the moment he heard Caroline's voice.

"Okay?" a confused Caroline said, wondering why was Brayden all of a sudden professing his love to her, "Is everything okay?".

"I love you more than life itself, I need you to remember that as I tell you what's happened" a panicked Brayden said, standing next to Stefan's car while his brother was on a call with Fae, trying to figure what had just happened to Brayden.

"Oh no, what happened this time?" a worried Caroline asked.

"I was out having breakfast with Stefan, I was walking down the street, towards Stefan's car when a car nearly ran me over" Brayden informed.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" an extremely concerned Caroline asked.

"I'm fine" Brayden assured, "Stefan saved me, but the reason I nearly got plowed over was because I was having a vision of Kaitlynn".

Both Caroline and Kaitlynn's eyes went wide hearing Brayden's words, both of them realising this wasn't a coincidence, something was seriously wrong, "Brayden, you're not going crazy, something's going on".

Kaitlynn sat on the table at the grill trying to call Damon but he wasn't answering his phone, what Kaitlynn didn't know was that Damon was too busy partying with Enzo and had no idea where he had placed his phone.

While Kaitlynn tried to get in contact with her boyfriend, Caroline stood up and walked over to Matt, "Hey, have you heard from my mom?" she asked.

"No, why?" a confused Matt asked.

"Well, she was supposed to meet me here and now she's not texting me back" a worried Caroline informed, "If you see her, will you just let her know that something came up?".

"Yeah, of course" Matt assured.

"Okay, thanks" Caroline said, she turned to Kaitlynn who showed her phone and shook her head, letting her know Damon wasn't answering his phone.

Caroline let out an annoyed sigh, she grabbed her phone from the table and dialed Enzo's number, knowing Damon and Enzo were together.

"Hello, gorgeous" Enzo greeted, as Caroline sat back infront of Kaitlynn.

"Can you tell Damon that there's something going on with Kaitlynn and Brayden?" Caroline asked, getting straight to the point and suddenly getting the attention of Damon who was trying to hit a perfect pool shot.

"What?" Damon asked, after Enzo put the phone on speaker and placed it on the new pool table he and Damon just bought.

"Well, you know how we all laughed off the notion that the universe was drawing Brayden and Kaitlynn together?" Caroline asked.

"Yeah?" Damon said, urging Caroline to keep going but not liking where this was going.

"Well, that's happening" Caroline revealed.

"What's happening?" a confused Damon asked.

"After Enzo killed Aria, Brayden and Kaitlynn became the last remaining soulmates in Silas and Amara's bloodline, which might explain why Brayden and Kaitlynn are suddenly having vision type situations of each other" Caroline explained.

"Wait, what kind of visions?" a curious Damon asked.

"You know what she's not telling you, probably because even she doesn't want to admit it, somebody's having sex dreams" Enzo teased.

"No one is having sex dreams" an annoyed Kaitlynn snapped.

"Yeah, apparently they're more like romance dreams" Caroline said, the uneasiness clearly shown on her face and voice.

"I don't need to know that" Damon stated.

"You think I do?" Caroline retorted.

Damon let out an annoyed sigh, "Where are Stefan and Brayden?".

"Stefan and Fae went to the travelers camp, to see if anyone is still there that can tell them what's going on" Caroline informed.

"Yeah, good luck with that" Enzo said, a bitter tone in his voice, as the travelers sacrificed themselves before giving him information about Maggie.

"Well, it's our only lead" Caroline reminded, "Look, all we know is that Aria is dead, the travelers just committed a mass suicide, and Brayden and Kaitlynn who are clearly not together anymore, are having intense visions of each other".

"Find a witch, get her over here, tell Brayden to come here as well, let's figure out what the hell is going on" Damon said, equally as annoyed as Caroline, neither of them wanting to it to be true that the universe wanted Brayden and Kaitlynn with each other and not them.

Enzo opened the front door of the boarding house and saw Caroline and Kaitlynn standing on the other side of the door, "Thought you were bringing a witch" he said, slightly confused seeing no witch with the duo.

"I said we'd call her" Caroline retorted, taking her jacket off and throwing it at Enzo's face, "I didn't say we'd pick her up".

"Where's Damon?" Kaitlynn asked, as her and Caroline walked into the boarding house, if she was to be honest, Kaitlynn was slightly scared to face Damon.

"I'm here" Damon announced, walking over to the trio.

Seeing her boyfriend, immediately a smile formed on Kaitlynn's face, "Hey".

Damon gave Kaitlynn a small smile, "Hey" he whispered, causing the smile on Kaitlynn's face to fall, she recognized that look on his face, that look told her that Damon hated the fact that his brother and girlfriend were dreaming about each other, and Kaitlynn wished she could do something but unfortunately she had no idea what to do and how to assure Damon that she was only his.

"Where's Brayden?" Enzo asked Caroline, remembering that he was also supposed to come here.

"He's approximately five minutes away" Caroline informed, reading the text Brayden just sent her.

"Right" Enzo said, the group suddenly being pulled into an awkward silence as neither Damon or Kaitlynn knew what to say to each other, "So who could use a drink from the library?".

"Yes, please" Caroline said, quickly putting her hand up in the air.

"Real subtle" Kaitlynn commented as Enzo and Caroline walked towards the library, she then looked towards Damon, "Um so when did you get a pool table?" she asked, pointing towards the pool table behind Damon.

"Got it this morning, was going to tell you but you were too busy having sex dreams about my brother" Damon taunted.

Kaitlynn let out an annoyed sigh, "They aren't sex dreams Damon, they're just dreams".

"That doesn't make me feel any better, Kaitlynn" Damon admitted.

Caroline, who sat in the library eavesdropping on Damon and Kaitlynn's conversation, let out a sigh, "Ugh, this is so bad, these dreams are going to end up ruining Damon and Kaitlynn's relationship, we should do something".

"Or we could stay and instead you tell me, are these dreams not going to ruin your and Brayden's relationship?" Enzo asked, grabbing two glasses of bourbon and handing one over to Caroline as he took a seat next to her.

Caroline let out a sigh, "Me and Brayden have gone through a lot worse together, and yes I know that we're not soulmates from Silas and Amara's bloodline, but we are soulmates, I have to believe that we are the ones who are meant to be, not him and Kaitlynn".

Enzo didn't say anything just took a sip of his drink, while Caroline stared at her glass, lost in her thoughts, the longer Brayden was away from her, the more her thoughts took a dangerous turn.

"You have hope" Enzo said after a moment of silence, "But I should remind you that hope can trick you into all sorts of hilariously unrealistic scenarios".

Caroline looked at Enzo, "No offence Enzo, but me and Brayden aren't you and Maggie".

Enzo looked at Caroline, "No you're not" he agreed, "But you are Caroline and Brayden, and like you said, you two have gone through a lot together, but don't you ever wonder, how much more can you two go through before there is no more Caroline and Brayden anymore?".

"There will always be Caroline and Brayden, Enzo" Brayden said, entering the room and glaring at the St. John vampire, "Till this universe exists, our love will exist".

"Brayden" Caroline whispered, a small smile forming on her face seeing her boyfriend.

Brayden looked at his girlfriend, he immediately walked over to her and kneeled infront of, he grabbed her hands in his, "I know what's happening right now, it's causing many questions to rise in your head and a lot of insecurities to resurface, but I need you to remember one thing, I love you Caroline Forbes, I didn't even let death take you away from me so how can you think I'll let this stupid universe come between us?".

"But the prophecy said that you and Kaitlynn are the ones fated together, not us Brayden" a teary eyed Caroline said.

"Screw the prophecy, Caroline!" Brayden stated, "I will fight every single thing that tries to take you away from me, but I can't do it alone, I need you to believe in me, I need you to believe in us, I need you to believe that when I said it's you and me against the world, I meant it, and not just for this lifetime, if there is more lifetimes out there, then I want to be yours in every life Caroline Forbes, because I can't imagine loving anyone the way I love you, so do you believe in me, do you believe in us?".

"I do" Caroline whispered, nodding her head, "I do believe in us Brayden, but I can't deny that I'm terrified of this prophecy tearing us apart".

"It will only tear us apart if we let it, you don't let go of me and I won't let go of you" Brayden stated, "It's as simple as that".

"Really?" a vulnerable Caroline asked.

"Really" Brayden repeated, cupping Caroline's face in his hands and pulling her into a kiss, both the vampires completely ignoring Enzo's presence in the room, Brayden's number one priority was to make sure Caroline was okay while Caroline was taking in Brayden's presence, no one else mattered to either of them right now.

After their moment, Caroline and Brayden walked into the living room where Kaitlynn and Damon stood with Liv's twin brother Luke, he was here as Liv was busy with something else.

"What do you mean you can't stop their visions?" an annoyed Damon asked.

"Our magic doesn't work like that" Luke stated, "We're not bigger than the universe".

"This isn't the universe dickhead, it's the freaking travelers!" an annoyed Brayden snapped, tired of all this universe talk.

"And if you can't stop these visions, why are you in my house?" Damon asked.

"Because we need your help" Luke informed, "We think the travelers are about to make their move, their leader, Markos, is here".

"From where?" Damon asked, "Chant camp?

"And wait, this isn't their big move?" a slightly shocked Brayden asked.

"The other side" Luke revealed to Damon, "And no Brayden, your visions isn't their big move, Markos has been dead for centuries and we think the fire sacrifice allowed him to escape".

"Perfect" Kaitlynn mumbled, "Another centuries old guy with another evil plan, when does it stop?!".

"Stefan and Fae just called" Caroline informed, reentering the room, having left to answer Fae's call, "They said the scrap yard's been completely cleared out".

"So let me guess, the witches don't know where Markos is" Damon said.

"You guys said the visions are trying to draw Kaitlynn and Brayden together for something" Luke remembered.

"For our soulmate blood because we're the soulmates from Silas and Amara's bloodline" Kaitlynn explained, "The travelers need it to complete some kind of prophecy".

"And if the travelers are the ones who need your blood, doesn't it make sense that you're not only being drawn together, but also--".

"Being drawn to them" Kaitlynn realised.

"And this just keeps getting better" Brayden mumbled, pouring himself a glass of bourbon and downing it in one go.

"Wait, I don't get it" a confused Caroline admitted.

"If the visions are a road map then we need more clues" Enzo informed, "Break out the popcorn blondie, Brayden and Kaitlynn's little sex romp isn't over yet".

"Can you not phrase it like that?" an annoyed Kaitlynn snapped, while a disgusted look formed on Damon and Caroline's face hearing Enzo's words.

Kaitlynn walked over to the Salvatore's front door, she leaned against the doorway and watched her boyfriend, who was currently sitting on the front porch, staring at the stars and drinking bourbon, while looking visibly disturbed by everything that was happening.

"Why are you out here?" a curious Kaitlynn asked.

Damon took a sip of his bourbon, "Ah, you know, looking at the stars, wondering why Brayden likes them so much and listening to the universe laugh at both me and Caroline, we were doomed from the beginning Kaitlynn, we were always gonna end up here".

"What? We were always going to end up happy in love?" Kaitlynn teased, when Damon didn't response, Kaitlynn let out a sigh and went and sat next to her boyfriend, "Damon, you need to understand that they're just visions, visions that will stop the moment we find Markos".

"It still won't change reality, Kaitlynn" Damon pointed out, "You and Brayden are meant to be, you have been, since 1864, and since 1864 I'm the one whose coming between you two".

"Okay first of all, in 1864, you didn't come between me and Brayden, my sister and my insecurities came between me and Brayden" Kaitlynn corrected, "Second of all, screw the universe, this is the same universe who once told me I was meant to be with Elijah, but look at me, I'm not with Elijah, I'm with you, somehow, someway, I always find my way to you, this stupid prophecy isn't real Damon, we are".

Damon looked at Kaitlynn, a small smile on his face while his eyes were full of love, however before he could say anything to his girlfriend, Kaitlynn let out a gasp as she was suddenly pulled into another vision of her and Brayden.

"Uh, oh, you're cooking, whose in trouble?" Brayden teased, entering his and Kaitlynn's shared kitchen.

"No one is in trouble, I'm just trying to prove to that you're not the only chef in town" Kaitlynn said.

Brayden let out an amused chuckle, before walking behind Kaitlynn and wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder, "Isn't it supposed to be the guy who does something special for the girl on their anniversary?

"That is a very stereotypical thought and we are not a stereotypical couple so we will not be following that notion" Kaitlynn stated.

"As you wish your highness" Brayden said, kissing the side of Kaitlynn's head, "But just so you know, given your track record when it comes to cooking, I did buy a few bottles of wine".

"See? Now nothing can go wrong" Kaitlynn teased.

"No it can't" Brayden laughed, "Let me grab the opener so we can start our anniversary celebrations".

Brayden stepped away from Kaitlynn and walked over to the kitchen drawer he knew they kept their wine opener in, Kaitlynn who was busy perfecting her dish, suddenly remembered something, causing her eyes to go wide in shock, she quickly turned towards her boyfriend, "No, no, no, don't open that drawer!" she pleaded, but it was too late, Brayden had already opened the drawer and seen what was inside it.

A shocked Brayden, grabbed the small black ring box from the drawer and turned to his girlfriend, "Please tell me this is what I think it is".

"Depends, what do you think it is?" Kaitlynn asked, slightly scared of Brayden's response.

"Kaitlynn Pierce, are you proposing to me?" Brayden asked.

"The answer to that question will only be yes if your answer is yes" Kaitlynn replied.

Brayden let out an amused laugh, "Well considering I was planning on doing the same thing, safe to say, my answer is yes" he said, pulling out a ring box from his back pocket.

Kaitlynn looked at Brayden wide eyed, "You bought a ring as well?".

Brayden shrugged, "Figured it was finally time to make you permanently mine".

A huge smile formed on Kaitlynn's face, "Yes Brayden, a hundred times yes!".

"You didn't even let me ask the question" Brayden pointed out, a huge smile forming on his face as well.

"Screw the question" Kaitlynn said, before lunging forward and pulling her now fiance into a heated kiss.

Brayden smiled into the kiss before putting his hands under Kaitlynn's thighs and lifting her up from the ground, the Pierce girl quickly wrapped her legs around Brayden's waist as their kissed got more heated.

"God, I love you so much" Brayden mumbled into the kiss, while placing Kaitlynn on top of the kitchen counter, in the process dropping some mail to the ground.

"I love you too" Kaitlynn whispered.

Brayden, who was sitting infront of the fireplace, was pulled out the vision he was just having by someone's voice, "Brayden".

Brayden let out a gasp and shattered the glass of bourbon in his hand as he was pulled out of the vision, he then looked to the side where a concerned Caroline stood, "Did I just have another vision?" a very disorientated Brayden asked.

"Yeap" a visibly upset Caroline confirmed.

"So did I" Kaitlynn informed, walking over to the duo, Damon behind her.

Caroline and Damon glanced at each other, both of them had the same expression on their face, both of them wanted these visions to stop asap, they wanted the universe to stop pushing the people they love together.

"That good, eh?" Enzo teased, entering the room and seeing the glass Brayden smashed scattered around the floor.

Kaitlynn rolled her eyes in annoyance at Enzo, "Markos is here" she informed.

"4620 Walnut Drive" Brayden revealed, both him and Kaitlynn having seen the address printed on the mail that was dropped on the floor.

With a cup of coffee in her hand, Kaitlynn stared out the window, watching the sunrise while the radio playing in the backyard, it was rare to have a quiet morning these days, so she was cherishing this rare moment to the fullest.

"Good morning, wife" a shirtless Brayden greeted, appearing behind Kaitlynn and wrapping his hands around her waist.

Kaitlynn placed her coffee mug on the kitchen counter, then turned to face her husband, "Morning handsome" she greeted, wrapping her arms around Brayden's neck and placing a peck on his lips, "Hey, so I got your dad a wine of the month voucher thing, think he'll like it?".

"The guy's an alcoholic Kait, of course he'll like it" Brayden assured, "Oh and here's a piece of gossip for you, both Stefan and Damon are bringing home a girl this year".

"Huh, and Katherine is bringing a boy home this year" Kaitlynn informed.

"So wanna make bets on what's going to go south first?" Brayden asked, "My bet is before anyone could even settle down my lovely father will create a scene".

"And my bet is that the moment Katherine's new love interest enters our house, you will fight him" Kaitlynn teased.

"Hey, I have some control" Brayden defended.

"Liar" Kaitlynn whispered.

"Okay it's not my fault that your sister has the worst choice in men" Brayden stated.

Kaitlynn opened her mouth to say something but before she could, her and Brayden's twin sons, or as Damon liked to call them, the hurricane twins, ran past them and into the living room.

"Hey, no running!" Kaitlynn called out.

"You really think they're going to listen to you?" an amused Brayden asked, watching his sons with a fond expression on his face.

"Of course they're not, because they are exactly like their father" Kaitlynn said.

"I listen to you" Brayden said, looking at his wife with a slightly offended expression on his face, "When did I not listen to you?".

"Do you have the whole day?" Kaitlynn asked, "Because it's a pretty long list".

"Now you're just making things up" Brayden stated.

"Am not" Kaitlynn  retorted.

"Are to" Brayden said.

"Oh really? Fine, remember the time when-".

"God, just shut up and kiss me" Brayden interrupted his wife, putting his hand on the back of her neck and pulling her into a kiss.

Suddenly, Kaitlynn's eyes shot open and she saw no sign of Brayden anywhere, she looked in the living room and there was no children, hell there wasn't even any furniture, everything was slowly but surely starting to disappear.

In reality, Kaitlynn gasped and opened her eyes, her eyes that were now teary, "Did you feel that?" she asked the person who just sat next to her on Damon's bed.

"Yeah" Brayden whispered, the moment the vision ended he came over to Kaitlynn who was sitting on her and Damon's shared bed, "But it ended so abruptly".

"Does that mean Damon and Enzo found Markos?" Kaitlynn asked, "Is it all over?".

Brayden nodded his head, "Yeah Kait, it's all over" he said, "It's been over for a long time".

Neither Brayden or Kaitlynn knew if Brayden was talking about the visions or their relationship.

"None of it was real, Bray" Kaitlynn reminded.

"I know" Brayden said, "It was just a spell done by stupid travelers, showing us something we can never be".

"We were human, Katherine was alive, your father was alive" Kaitlynn listed, "It was all just fantasy".

"And even in fantasy my father is a horrible person" Brayden mumbled, a bitter tone in his voice.

Kaitlynn let out a small chuckle, "Yeah" she whispered, "I know it was all fantasy, but I can't deny that it felt--".

"Good" Brayden finished, huge amount of guilt rising in his heart, "It felt really good".

"Yeah" Kaitlynn whispered.

Brayden let out a sigh, "Look Kait, I admit, fantasy was amazing, but reality wasn't that bad either, you and I fell in love, not because of a spell or a prophecy, it was because we chose to love each other, just like we chose to move on from each other, I truly loved you Kaitlynn but I can't lie to you and say that I loved you more than I love Caroline, truth is, you were a great experience Kaitlynn Pierce, but Caroline is my everything, and I'm not going to let a stupid spell or prophecy take away the one person that I can't live without, when you left me, I changed, but it wasn't all that bad, but if Caroline leaves me, I don't think I'll change, I think I'll straight up die, because the thought of living even one day without her, it kills me".

"I know what you mean" Kaitlynn whispered, her mind going back to Damon, "After you, I never thought I could fall in love ever again, but your brother proved me wrong and call me a horrible person for falling for two brothers but I didn't mean to, no matter what I did, I somehow always found myself infront of Damon, you know, if I'm to believe any prophecy, then I'll believe the one that says that you and I met so we could help each other find our true love".

Brayden gave Kaitlynn a small smile, "I like that prophecy the best".

Kaitlynn chuckled, "I couldn't cook in the visions" she suddenly remembered.

"Naturally" Brayden teased, making Kaitlynn laugh.

After a moment of silence, Kaitlynn spoke again, "I will always love you Brayden" she admitted, making Brayden look at her in slight shock, "Not as a lover, but as my friend, we might not be in a relationship anymore but that doesn't mean you're not important to me Brayden Salvatore".

Brayden gave Kaitlynn a small smile, "You're quite important to me as well Kaitlynn Pierce".

"But not more than Caroline" Kaitlynn teased.

Brayden chuckled, "No one in this world is more important than her".

"And no one in this world is more important to me than Damon" Kaitlynn admitted.

"I know" Brayden whispered, giving Kaitlynn a knowing smile.

After dealing with Markos, Damon came back to the boarding house, he entered his room where he saw Kaitlynn still sitting, waiting for him while Brayden had left to be with Caroline.

"Is it really the right time to ambush me in my bedroom right now?" Damon asked, letting his presence known to the Pierce vampire.

Kaitlynn looked up and gave the oldest Salvatore a small smile, "I'm not waiting here to ambush you Damon, I just wanted to thank you, whatever you and Enzo did, it worked, the visions have stopped, everything is back to normal".

Damon let out a sigh, "Everything isn't back to normal, Kaitlynn".

Kaitlynn stood up from the bed and walked over to her boyfriend, a desperate look forming on her face, "Damon, I admit, the visions I had of me and Brayden, they weren't less then a paradise".

"I don't want to know" Damon snapped, not wanting to hear about the perfect like the love of his life had with his brother.

"But you need to know" Kaitlynn snapped back, causing Damon to let out an annoyed sigh, "The visions showed mine and Brayden's perfect life, we were married, we had two boys, it was everything that me and him used to fantasies about back in 1864".

"Well, we can always ask Markos to put it back" an angry Damon offered.

"Exactly Damon, the reason me and Brayden were seeing this perfect life, it was because someone planted those visions in our heads, it wasn't real" Kaitlynn said, stepping closer to Damon, "You know what is real? Us, yes at times we can be messy and get really complicated but all of that is real".

"And really bad for each other" Damon pointed out.

A confused expression formed on Kaitlynn's face, "Now who the hell put that thought in your mind?".

"Everyone I've ever met" Damon stated, "And you know what? They're not wrong", Damon stepped forward, leaving no space between him and Kaitlynn, he then cupped her face in his hands, "You are the best thing to happen to me, but I'm the worst thing to happen to you".

Kaitlynn immediately shook her head, "No, Damon--".

"We're done Kaitlynn" Damon interrupted Kaitlynn before she could even make an attempt to change his mind, "I can't see you anymore, I don't wanna hear your voice, I don't wanna talk to you, I don't even wanna look at you, I will not let my darkness affect your light, I won't let you change because of me".

"Please don't do this" Kaitlynn cried, "Damon if you keep pushing me away like this, one day, I might not be able to make my way back to you".

"And that's exactly what I want" Damon stated.

With tears sliding down her face, Kaitlynn glared at the oldest Salvatore, "I know you are a lot of things Damon, I just never expected you to be a coward, instead of fighting for us, you're taking the easy way out, but you know what? If this is what you want, then this is what you will get, because a relationship only works if two people fight to make it work, I'm willing to fight for us but since you're not, there's no point in me fighting, I hope you have a great life Damon Salvatore, and the next time you fall in love with someone, make sure not to give up on her so easily because it really hurts".

Before Damon could say anything, an emotional Kaitlynn walked out of his room, no longer being able to handle his presence near her.

Caroline had wanted to spend time with Brayden, but before the two soulmates could get some quality time together, Tyler called Caroline to informed her that her mother had been possessed by a traveler and they had stabbed her with the traveler's knife to kill the traveler inside her.

Currently Caroline and Brayden, who had rushed along with Caroline after finding out Liz was stabbed,  sat on either side of Liz's bed, while the Forbes girl talked to Tyler on the phone.

"I gave her my blood" a worried Caroline informed Tyler, "So what do I do? She's still unconscious".

"For starters, relax" Tyler said, "Matt said he was out for a while when this happened to him".

Caroline looked at Brayden, who nodded his head in confirmation, the Forbes vampire let out a frustrated sigh, "What are they doing here? This is our home, we can't let them take over".

"They won't" Tyler assured, "I got it handled, I promise".

"Thanks, Tyler" Caroline said.

"You're welcome" Tyler said.

"Care, she's waking up" Brayden said, sitting on the other side of Liz and watching as her eyes slowly fluttered open.

"I gotta go, she's waking up" a happy Caroline told Tyler, she hanged up the phone and turned to her mother, "Hey".

"What happened?" an extremely confused Liz asked, not remembering anything that happened since the moment she got possessed.

"It's a long story Liz" Brayden said, "Right now, we're just glad that you're okay".

Caroline lunged forward and hugged her mother while Brayden looked at them with a small smile on his face, but despite the smile, the immense worry on his face was also present, he wondered what the travelers were planning and when will there next attack be and will they be ready for it?
