They Call Me Raven
Running. That was all you knew. Well, that and hiding, but that was beside the point.
You were hiding in a tree at the moment, high up in its branches for a better viewpoint that kept you concealed from any prying eyes. You scanned the area, keeping an eye out for any HYDRA members that may have figured out your location.
You saw a jet in the distance, it didn't look like anything you had ever seen at HYDRA.
You watched it pass overhead, shrinking back further against the trunk of the tree.
There was another noise that followed after the jet, you watched as a metal suit, and someone with wings followed behind it.
You observed the scene, unease overcoming you. You escaped capture attempts by flying, but these two could fly too. Faster than you could. It made you nervous.
As the jet landed in the distance, the metal suit and winged man landed with it.
You jumped from the tree, spreading out your large, black wings. You stayed closer to the forest floor, you didn't dare reveal yourself and fly above the treeline.
You were careful not to break any branches, or leave behind anything they could track.
You stopped by a clear stream, you decided it was time to get some water before you cleared the area. Clean water was hard to come by.
You crouched down, scooping the water up with your hands. You drank the cool water thirstily.
You had been so focused on the water, you hadn't noticed anyone approaching until a weapon was cocked. You stiffened.
"We don't want to hurt you, but if you don't come with us, we will use force," a man said.
You slowly turned around, there was a man standing front and center, he was wearing a blue suit with what looked to be a shield.
The metal suit was standing off to the side behind him, a glowing hand was pointed at you. There was another man off to the other side of the man in the front, it was the man with wings. He was watching you closely through red-tinted goggles.
You took a small step back, "Take another step and I will shoot you," a woman said, she was off to your right. She had bright red hair.
"Natasha, you are scaring her. She thinks you are HYDRA," another woman said. There was a brunette girl to your left.
"We aren't with HYDRA, we're with SHIELD," the man with the shield told you.
Your wings twitched. You didn't want to go with them, you didn't know them. They could be lying to you.
The brunette girl's eyes went scarlet, wisps of the same shade started towards you. You panicked, beating your wings powerfully as you soared above the trees.
A few gunshots followed you, a sharp pain made itself known on your wing. There was a metal dart lodged between your feathers. You made a corkscrew movement in the air, dislodging the offensive metal.
That moment was all it took for someone to slam into you, wrapping their arms around you.
You squirmed against him, "We aren't gonna hurt you kid," the suit told you. You fought harder.
The group came into the small clearing that the suit landed in. "Easy Stark," the man with wings said, running up to him.
"What, you want her Wilson? Two birds am I right?" the suit joked.
The redhead approached, attaching some sort of cuff to the base of your wings. It made it nearly impossible to move your wings, much less fly with them.
You were grounded, a cold feeling spread through your chest. Whatever had been in the dart was starting to take effect.
You gave one last, valiant struggle before you succumbed to the darkness.
.
.
.
You woke up in a room with metal walls and a metal door. The cuffs had not been removed from your wings, which were starting to get stiff from the position.
You curled up in the corner of the room, as far from the door as you could possibly get.
It didn't take long for the redhead to come in the room, "What's your name?" she asked, glaring at you when she was met with silence.
"Raven-337," you answered quietly with a flinch.
"Better," she said before asking her next question, "Where is the base that you escaped from?"
You silently shrugged your shoulders, looking down at the floor.
There was a knock on the door, gaining the redhead's attention. She opened the door, taking a plate from whoever was on the other side.
She put the plate in front of you, "Turkey sandwich," she informed you before she walked out of the room.
You stared at the sandwich before pushing it away with your foot.
The door opened again a few minutes later, revealing the man that had wings, he did not have them now.
He crouched in front of you, "I can take the cuffs off if you want," he offered gently.
You continued to look at the floor, a bit too scared to meet his eyes. You didn't want him to come near you, but the ache in your back and wings was starting to feel like too much. You nodded slowly.
"Turn around, I'll get them off for you," you did as you were told. The cuffs fell to the floor with an audible clink.
You let out a content sigh as the ache eased. He watched you stretch your wings out, a look of awe on his face.
"I'm Sam," he introduced, glancing at your sandwich. "Don't like turkey?" he asked, bending down and picking up the plate.
You shook your head, "Cannibalism," you informed him simply.
A look of realization and mortification crossed his face.
You had to refrain from laughing at him. You bit your lip, an internal debate warred in your head.
"They call me Raven."
