Ruki's POV

She left. I watched her figure disappear as I lay bleeding. Keep our fangs to ourselves, huh? So she knows what we're are and doesn't even fear us.

"Ruki?" I heard as footsteps coming closer. Soon Kou was standing next to me as I picked myself off the ground. "What happened to you?"

"It seems to me that Kaori-san knows about our existence." I said as I picked up her dagger and examined it.

"If what you say is true, then that explains quite a bit about her behavior." The voice came from Reiji who was in front of the other 7. Yuma and Azusa walked away from them to be closer to us.

Though I do despise them, I still asked out of curiosity. "As in?"

He waited for a second before he answered. "She shows no fear when near us. Better yet she doesn't show any emotion at all. And, from what I've seen, her strength is something else. Also, the bracelet on her arm doesn't seem normal."

True. She does seem like something other than human. "But we all can tell human blood is running through her veins." Subaru stated.

Yes, there is no doubt that her scent is in fact human. But, I still can't think that there isn't something hidden behind her blank silver eyes. 

"It is true that Kaori is a human." We all turned to see Karlheinz-sama standing down the hallway. He continued, "But she will be of important use eventually.

And with that, we all left back to our mansion.

01's POV

I left him lying on the ground and headed back to my room. What I first noticed was that there was a file laying on my desk. I recognized the seal on the file and immediately opened it.

File Recipient: Subject 01
Purpose: Military Reinstatement and Mission Briefing

Summary: 01 you are to monitor the activities of Karlheinz and his children. Your mission is to guard Yui Komori from any harm and possible danger. If needed, you are to sacrifice yourself for her safety. Failure to do so will lead to immediate termination and the destruction of any knowledge of your existence. We expect perfect results. Remember don't let anyone discover who you are.

How could I ever be dumb enough to let them discover me? There was a picture of a teen girl in the file along with the briefing.

I recognized her to be the human girl with the Sakamaki's. It appears I'll have to be near them more...Oh, what joy.

I closed the file and went to sleep. First rule of survival, always be alert. The military taught my unit to be half conscious when we're asleep.

I also sleep with a gun under my pillow for safe measures. Eventually I fell asleep, surrounded by a peaceful darkness.

Time skip - Morning

I woke up half an hour before school and decided to get dressed. I wore the same uniform as yesterday and grabbed my weapons. I walked down to only see Riku standing there.

"Where is she?" He finally realized I was standing there and looked up.

"She's in her room. She hasn't come out since the Sakamaki's and Mukami's left."

"Let's go. If she doesn't want to go then leave her." I turned to leave but his voice stopped me.

"I'm worried about her. Do you mind checking on her?" I was about to say no but his face said something was really wrong. Probably one of those bloodsuckers did something to her.

I don't have the heart to care for her but no ordinary human should have to experience their world in anyway and should be oblivious to their existence.

I walked back up the stairs and and kicked her door open. "Oi, get up. Time to go."

I looked around her room and almost threw up. Pink was everywhere. Everything from the ceiling to the Sailor Moon Wand and to the carpet.

My eyes landed on Haruka who had a tear stained face. She looked at me and immediately hugged me.

I'm not one for having sympathy, so I just left my hands down by my sides. After a few minutes, she finally let go of me and sat back down.

"So...are you going or not?"

She raised her eyes to meet mine and whispered, "I don't know what to do."

My face remained blank. "So no?"

She ignored my insensitivity and continued. "My heart was broken."

Do I honestly have to listen to this useless drama. I turned to leave not seeing a reason being here anymore.

Just as I was about to leave I heard, "I had a crush on Ruki-sama and since he was here I thought this would be the perfect chance to confess to him. But, he rejected me." And, I care why?

"And, as he walked away, I tried to follow after to him to ask why but I tripped and injured my hand. Unfortunately, I have a phobia of blood and pass out by the very sight. The thing was...that right before I fell unconscious, I thought his eyes became red a bit. Weird right? Must've just been me."

That's what finally stopped me. I turned around and walked back to her. I tilted her head and found 2 fresh holes in her neck.

"Do you know how you got these wholes in your neck?"

She thought for a minute. "No. I woke up here after passing out and don't remember anything after that. Ruki-sama must've carried me here. Isn't he sweet?"

He just broke your heart and he's sweet? Honestly, girls are idiots. More importantly, he bit her and risked for not just him but me as well to be exposed. I think that punch wasn't enough for him.

I walked out her door and went back down to Riku. As I passed him, I said, "She's feeling ill. It started yesterday and hasn't become better for her."

He believed me. There was no reason to even think what I said was lie since I was a master in deception and other useful things.

He followed me to the limo and we drove off. We separated for our respective classes and I went to history.

Luckily, none of them were in class which made me celebrate inside...not. Actually, it seemed more suspicious that not a single one of them was here.

Though, it saved me the headache, it seems like a warning for something. The school day ended without interference which seemed even more odd.

I grabbed my stuff but noticed that something was out of place. There was a fancy card placed on top of my books.

I apologize for our lack of presence and our inability to work on our assignment. My offer still stands for you to visit my home for us to make up lost time. I will send a car later today if you accept.

Still trying I see. I took a second to think about my situation. Obviously if I go, I'm not leaving without a fight. But if I actually thought this through I would see that I can have a better advantage at completing my mission.

With my decision made, I walked out to Riku and left school. When we arrived home, I walked to my room and turned on the computer that was already there.

Before I touched anything else, I plugged in a hard drive that erases any data of whatever I do in the next 10 minutes.

I sent a message to my commander through his secure server and told him that the mission is under way and that he needs to take care of my family.

Though, this was all I said, he would understand what would be needed to be done by tomorrow morning.

When I was done, I changed out of my uniform and into casual clothes. I pulled on white skinny jeans, my black nike shirt, and black high tops. I pulled a black and grey sweatshirt onto my body and left my hair as it was.

I looked out the window and saw a sleek black Mercedes-Benz pull up waiting for me. I grabbed my school bag with all the supplies for our assignment.

Best way to go about things is to make them think I'm actually naive enough to believe all he wants is to work.

I also grabbed my knives and the daggers that were soaked in a substance that would would burn any supernatural creature. It was specifically made for me when I was on missions.

I made my way downstairs and walked out towards the expensive a** car. The chauffeur opened the door for me and quickly shut it after I had entered.

One things for sure, I can say that I walked willingly into a vampire's lair.
