Chapter Four

After a weekend with Zero, getting to know more about him, I was fired into a harsher reality. Jeremey. Shit. I took a deep breath walking into the company. He hadn't told anyone, because they greeted me like normal. But, it seemed, he had told Yu. Both were quiet seeing me. I had already gotten my work for the week done at Zero's place, so I went up to them.

"We need to talk, now." The two exchanged glances and followed me outside on a empty balcony of the company building. When we got there and the door was shut, I sighed. "You can ask me anything you want to."

"Why didn't you tell us anything? We're your friends."Yu sighs.

"I didn't want to be anyone's burden. I-I just wanted to move on, but I never could." I looked up at the sky.

"We won't judge you for this, we understand what you went through must've been hard, it's just, we feel kinda betrayed your didn't tell us anything." Yu sighs.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know how I'd exactly bring up the topic." I look off towards the city. "My entire life is one you wouldn't expect. I've been as strong as I can, and I only ever let in two people, and that's you two." I turn back to them. It was three now, but I didn't think I should tell them that.

"As long as you promise not to keep such big things a secret anymore, were good." Jeremey smiles softly.

"I promise. Now let's get back to work. I have interview questions I have to type up." I inform. They furrow their brows.

"You didn't do anything to get that information, did you?" They knew me well. I'm going to have to lie to them, and I apologize ahead of time.

"Of course not. I only slaked simple questions anyways. You called me when I was interviewing them and I kinda forgotten was there. Zero definitely trust me a lot more than before, that's for sure." I admit, leaving out the sex part.

"Oh, so he knows about you?" Jeremey questions.

"He kinda guessed at it already, but after hearing me on the phone, he wasn't as strict in his judgement." I informed.

"Good to see your getting your job done cleanly." Yu smiles.

"Let's get back to work." I smile back and we head back in, going to our work areas. I type up my questions from yesterday and his responses, and I found out quite a lot. I was so enveloped in my work that I didn't notice the time going by, or when someone Mae to visit during lunch. It wasn't until they placed their hands on my shoulders that I reacted.

"Holy fuck." I mutter and turn around, to see Zero visiting.

"Right, lunch, that's what we talked about yesterday. Give me a minute." I smile and save my writing, turning of my computer and getting up.

"Be back soon." I wave to Yu and Jeremey.

"Dude, it's not fair at all that you get to meet all the celebrities." Yu complains. I stick my tongue out.

"Honestly." Jeremey smiles kindly. I head out with Zero.

"Those two your friends?" Zero questions as soon as we leave the building.

"Yeah, the three of us were just talking about everything wrong with my life. They're good friends, they just made me promise to not lie to them again." I inform. "Not to hide anything."

"That's good, though I doubt you told them about, uh..." Zero stopped.

"I don't think they would react well at all if I told them. Anyways, where are we getting lunch?" I question.

"How about we walk into somewhere random?" He suggests.

"You have no idea, do you?" I sigh.

"Not at all." I smile and walk a little ahead, leading us to a little diner that I went to often when I worked. I walked in and one of the waiters there smiled at me.

"Nice to see you again Atsuki." She winked and I shivered when she looked away.

"That one keeps hitting on me." I comment.

"I see." We get seated and look at the menus.

"It's nice and quiet and no one seems to recognize me." Zero comments.

"Yeah, I come here for dinner and type a lot of reports up because it's so peaceful." I admit. We both decide what we want and a waitress comes by.

"Hello, I'm Cindy and I'll be your server today, what can I get for you?" Our waitress had a huge stomach.

"Can I have a Diet coke?" Zero and I say together.

"Coming right up." I pause her for a second.

"Are you pregnant?" I question. She smiles.

"Yes, twins." She admits.

"Oh, that must be painful." Zero comments.

"Very." She leaves to get us out drinks.

"I wonder why she's working here if she's having twins." Zero comments.

"She probably has more than one job. It's a common thing to do." I inform. She came back and gave us our drinks.

"Have you decided what you wanted to order yet?" She asks us.

"Can I have a burger and fries?" Zero orders.

"And I'll have the burger of the day, side of home fries." I order.

"Coming right up." She left again.

"So, next time you leave, make sure to put on some sort of disguise. Can't have you all over the tabloids." I say.

"I realize. I'm not the most sociable type, if you couldn't tell." He rolls his eyes at me.

"Oh, I realized." He glared but then softened his expression.

"So, when will you be able to come over again?" Zero questions.

"I should be able to go after work everyday, and I do stay there for weekends. I will call ahead of time if I'm unable to make it." I inform.

"That's good." He smiled.

"If you're thinking about what I think you are, last time was amazing and I'm willing to do it again." I smirk. His ears went slightly pink.

"You could be a detective with your deduction skills." Zero comments.

"I'll leave that to detective  Ritsu and Kai. My skills are no match for their own." I chuckle, remembering the pair from my college years.

"Who?" Zero questions curiously.

"Ritsu went to my college, he was a kid with amazing deduction skills, he solved cases all over the country. In our first few years, he solved one of the toughest cases. It's been pretty silent from him and Kai, but the started to appear in the newspapers more often recently." I inform. Our waitress brings us our food and we eat. We finish quite quickly and pay, I left a ten dollar tip and then we left.

"So, I'm not going to be at home next month for your and your boss said something about you joining to see what my life is like on tour?" Zero questions.

"He mentioned that. I will be on paid leave basically. I have to tell the people in the office when I get back. Considering how the month is almost over. I need someone to cover one of my stories." I informed.

"We'll be on a tour bus, they made sure to have two bedrooms in it. It's pretty spacious, and they plan to announce you're with me for the chance to be reporter of the year." He adds.

"Paparazzi getting me on camera, I hope those who told me to die regret what they said." I smirk.

"They better. Ah, we're already back at the building, should I walk you to you work space?" He questions.

"If you want to." I smile. We go inside and get into the elevator.

"I'm really glad we're getting along, you were so sketchy when I met you." Zero smirks.

"Aren't you glad I'm not sketchy?" I joke. He ruffles my hair a bit.

"Extremely." He then told me this really stupid joke. "So, what's a pirates favorite letter?" He questions.

"R?" I suggested.

"You may think it's 'r', but a pirates true love be the 'c'." At that I started laughing my ass of. I hardly noticed the elevator doors opening.

"That has to be the stupidest joke I ever heard." I laugh, smiling after I stopped laughing.

"Well, goodbye then, looks like we're at your floor." Zero comments, I look over.

"Right. Anyways, see you later to interrogate you on your life more." I smile.

"See you then." I get off the elevator as the doors close and the elevator leaves. I look to the office and see literally everyone kinda staring at me in shock. Even my boss and Sabrina were extremely shocked.

"What's with everyone, you looked like you've seen a ghost." I joke as I walk closer.

"I didn't think I'd ever see you look so human." Sabrina comments.

"What do you mean?" I question with a head tilt to the left.

"You seem kinda stuck up and you act as if your bigger than everyone else, you get what you want when you want." Someone else comments.

"Do I really come off that way?" My face went pink.

"I've known you since we were kids and I've definitely never seen that face before." Jeremey informs.

"W-what. Well, I guess it's just been awhile since I've met someone with a similar life story to mine." I admit.

"What do you mean?" Yu questions.

"Ah, when I met to talk to Zero on Friday, I found out that a lot of his past is similar to mine, a few things are different, but it made it easier to get along with him. For instance, we're both orphans." I admit.

"Huh, hasn't he talked about his parents before?" My boss questions.

"They've been dead for awhile, I'm typing up my report for what I've learned so far, so you'll have to wait for the entire story." I inform.

"Hold up, you're an orphan?" A coworker asks.

"It's a long story is rather not share. But yes, I've been an orphan my whole life, despite... Never mind." I sigh. "Also, I have something to announce, boss told me before I go next week." I inform.

"Go ahead." My boss sighed.

"I'm going to be going on tour with Zero to capture his life on tour. So I'll be out of the office for a few months. So I was going to assign my future reports to people while I was gone." I informed.

"Dude, you better win this thing." Yu smiles.

"Oh, I will. Don't you worry."
