"Yuh right, Atticus, dem not fully grasp dat,"

"JUS' STEP RIGHT in, me likkle ones, and find yer seats," Miss Almulese began showing us into the classroom as she stood by the doorway.

I followed the student before me, walking past her, glancing momentarily at the dog that strutted by her side, my eyes catching hers to which she returned with a subtle smile and a nod.

I returned a nervous nod before entering the classroom.

It wasn't very different from the Origins Classroom we had used. This one looked a little bit smaller or maybe it was the plants that were strategically scattered all around the room that made it feel as if there wasn't enough space.

I followed the girl before me, taking a seat behind her by the windows in the third row for which I was grateful. A seat by the wall always gave me a sense of support. The windows were already opened which allowed the light breeze to come through.

I was able to see the fountain at the heart of the King's Crown from up here, but I couldn't see the sword and crown because of the tree that stood in my line of sight at precisely the right angle to my absolute frustration.

Miss Almulese waited for the rest of the students in the class to be settled, taking her standard position at the front of the class. My eyes trailed over my fellow students noting I didn't know anyone from here which kind of depressed me.

Making friends here would be tough as I once again would have to tell everyone of my 'condition,' and the last thing I wanted was that sort of attention.

I watched as the dog crossed the length of the Classroom making itself comfortable on the teacher's chair where it was partially hidden from sight thanks to the table.

"Mi likkle ones, a warm welcome to de very first Colors Class." she began curtly eyes trailing over each one of us, , "It be a grand honor for ye to grace this place, indeed."

My eyes locked on her feeling very uncomfortable as the anticipation in me heightened. I wanted to like this woman standing in front of me, and I did, but I couldn't help but feel some sadness over the fact that she was not Mr. Ogustus.

I breathed out, trying to refocus on what she was saying.

"For dis term, I'll be guidin' ya through yer Colors Classes, consider yerselves fortunate to have a Prime like meself. Ye'll be gleanin' more than the rest, mark me words," she walked down the aisles as she talked, "As this be yer inaugural TRUE Class of the term," she began gaze spinning round to the other row of students,

"I be needin' to acquaint ye with de ways of our system," she stopped in an aisle standing at the very back of the class right before a plant, where she stayed as she talked, "First tings fi start, it's important fi all a yuh fi know de class schedule. Mornin's, from 6 to 9, di regular classes gwine gwaan pon di first floor," she began, her accent thick on each word.

"Human regular classes like Mathematics an' Physics, y'know," she briefly walked forward stopping in the middle of an aisle looking around, "It's crucial fi yuh fi grasp not jus' de mysteries of de concealed realm, but also keep steady wid de foundations of de visible world. Cause at de end of de day, yuh can't do wit'out both, yuh see."

My eyes narrowed on the intricate drawings that traced on her fingers as she gestured whilst she spoke, eventually tailing up to her face,

"Please Check de master timetable in de first hall of de King's Crown fi figure out where yuh classes gwine gwaan," she walked to the front, turning around abruptly, gesturing with her hands as she talked,

"Dis be di spot where we goin' spend most of di time durin' di week, right through di afternoon. It's where yuh unlock di secrets tied to yuh dilect and realize dat dere ain't no limits to gifts like yours, mi likkle ones." she explained a smile on her features, "But mind yuh, on Mondays an' Thursdays Afternoons, each one a yuh must be present in de Cube fi Combat trainin' - so dem days be taken away from us, I'm now," she replied blowing it off with her hand, "But 'fore we dive into all a dat, I gon' start wit' de Introductions," she began gracefully turning leaning against her table.

"Let us clear de air once and for all,' she announced her tone much louder and ultimately more clear, "Every soul in dis' room be rockin' de red, meanin' each an' every one a yuh can conjure up some basic magic," she began taking a light bulb that was on her desk. She lifted it for all of us to see, eyes trailing above us.

"Dis'..." she began with a slight pause, "is basic magic," she demonstrated snapping her finger and the light came on.

I could hear some shallow gasps at the light but she shushed us with one finger.

"Be calm children," she said, holding the light for all of us to see with her fingertips-

"Dis' is only' –  she snapped a second time and the light changed to blue

'Basic' finger snap and the light changed to orange

'Magic' she finished the light turning a bright red.

I looked at the glowing red light my mouth slightly parted as I stared at it in awe. She casually let go of the light bulb and it remained floating in the air.

I could hear the shallow breaths of my fellow dumb-founded classmates, our shock only increasing when it floated lightly in midair until it came face to face with a girl who sat at the very front of the middle row.

She looked at it with wide eyes as did the rest of us.

"Take it, child," Miss Almulese called out softly and the girl reached out to take the bulb, softly plucking it from the air which allowed it to glow its last deep red before turning off.

My heartbeat softly at the sight of this, attention then returning to Miss Almulese whose eyes had been trained on us all along.

"As a red, basic magic be yuh default settin. It dwells raw an' vibrant within yuh, livin' right inside. By di term's end, every single one a yuh gwine be able to pull off some basic magic," she explained her tone more serious.

"But mind yuh, it's crucial fi understand dat each one a yuh draw dem magic from a one-of-a-kind source. Imagine magic like de vast ocean," she began her hands carving into a circle, "An endless wellspring of strength, yet each a yuh be like streams flowin' into rivers that eventually merge into de great ocean. But still, every single one a yuh got a different place where yuh spring from originally," she explained.

I watched her intrigued by this and yet still felt like I hadn't yet grasped what she was saying. Her eyes traveled around each one of us and we heard the dog whimper. She glanced over at him sighing,

"Yuh right, Atticus, dem not fully grasp dat," she huffed and my eyebrows arched as did most of the other students.

Was she talking to the dog?

"Let us put it in dis' way," she began folding her arms, "Every one a yuh got a dilect, an' every one a yuh dilects got de power to conjure magic. But, pay heed, each dilect be pullin' magic in its own special style. While some a you summon magic from de elements, commandin' de air to blaze, earth to rise, water to take shape, others like to blend with nature, shiftin' like de seasons, magic in dat mode. Then, there's those who draw magic from dimensions, twistin' and changin' direction in the blink of... a... Second." she snapped her finger and I spun around so quickly it felt like nothing had happened.

I looked up confused, eyes trailing to Miss Almulese who was now situated at the back of the classroom with her dog and table and chairs, only...

We had all turned with her.

My eyebrows arched at this, looking back at the back of the room where the plants were stored most.

No- we didn't move-

-the whole classroom seemed to have shifted into opposites. I looked out of the window at the fountain where I could now see the Sword and Crown statue which I couldn't see earlier before because of the tree.

I had barely enough time to awe at the situation when I heard a snap and everything spun so fast back to its original position. I stared wide-eyed at Miss Almulese as did the other students who seemed shocked out of their minds.

"Dat... is not basic magic," she plainly stated and we all managed a chuckle at the statement.

She smiled shortly, grabbing a small plant in a pot as she stood up, "De crux of de matter be, magic comes in plenty forms, an' each a yuh dilect done picked its own. It's up to yuh to wield dat power," she began placing the plant in front of a boy who sat at the front of my row.

"One a me gifts be seein' de magic dat each dilect done absorbed, it blossoms like an aura 'round every one a yuh," My heart skipped a beat at the sound of this.

I tried to block out the thoughts gaze lingering back at her as she looked at the boy in our row, pushing the plant-forward and giving him a small nod.

"While most dilects opt to be like rivers, holdin' as much watta' as dey can, some be special an' break free like streams, carvin' out dier' own pathways, " she finished slowly as the small plant began to grow before all our eyes, the boy ahead seemed to be focusing all his energy on it.

"Seems like he be givin' life to de plants, nuh true?" she began eyes trailing from the plant which had grown taller, "But pure creation ain't within de realm of magic's reach. Instead, he be speedin' up de plant's life, hastenin' its growth," she finished.

Her tone softened as before all our eyes the big green leaves of the plant that had only formed three seconds ago turned brown, brown like the grass by the Wilting tree.

We watched as the plant continued to turn brown as she spoke,

"He don't wanna kill de plant, but he can't put a halt to it. Dis' be why it's vital to train yuh dilect," she reminded taking the plant away from his desk but that didn't help as it continued to wilt, slower but still dying.

"he then draws his magic from time," Miss Almulese explained, "An' his vulnerability be time, it never rests, so once it start, it jus' keeps on goin'" she explained, placing the dying plant in front of a new student.

She didn't say a word as the girl looked up at her with wide eyes.

I could tell she was nervous but Miss Almulese outstretched her hand to her.

"Be calm child, give me yuh hand and be calm," she said softly. The girl seemed terrified but placed her hand in Miss Almulese who suddenly had a paper in her hand seeming to have appeared from nowhere slicing the girl's hand giving her a paper cut.

It was so quick, I could see the girl didn't even know how to react or if she was in pain staring wide-eyed at her cut to which Miss Almulese calmly turned over, a drop of her blood splashed onto the dying tree, and immediately it disintegrated into ash.

A gasp went up from the classroom and I stared at the ashplant dumbfounded watching as Miss Almulese quickly covered the girl's hand in a handkerchief.

"Blood magic," she plainly stated, before placing her hand on a table right beside where the girl was seated to another girl, "You know what to do Child," Miss Almulese replied looking at the second girl.

The second girl looked at our teacher momentarily before nodding, her palm sliding under the bleeding girl's hand. She closed her eyes and I watched the face of the girl with blood magic as her eyebrows creased.

After a few seconds, the second girl removed her hand and the girl with Blood magic withdrew hers, suddenly removing the handkerchief and looking at her hand.

I caught a glimpse of it as she showed it off in surprise.

It was completely healed.

"Healin' Magic," Miss Almulese replied with a curt nod at the second girl.

She moved back to the front of the classroom, turning around to face us, sighing.

"From di display I put on, yuh can see dat from di start, de plant started growin', an' every one a yuh was captivated by it," she began gesturing to the boy who had started this whole chain reaction, "It weren't till I told yuh dat de plant was actually fadin' away when yuh realized dat every action got its aftermath, an' even though it met its end, it happened faster an' with less pain," she replied gesturing to the girl with blood magic.

"But even with dat decision there was a lot of pain," she finished, "and dat is the lesson for today," she began just as the bell rang, "While magic be a wondrous thing, it don't come without a price. We be de only class whose dilects might reach across other colors, but remember, wit' great power comes great duty," she replied walking to the front.

"Yuh' dismissed."

What do you think about Miss Almulese? I had fun toiling with Caribbean inspired accent in my mind, (i actually think of Calypso in Pirates of the Caribbean).
