Chapter 2; Levitate

Corey stayed laying down in the water until the man with the yellow and green outfit arrived at the bottom of the canyon, a torch in hand to provide heat. He stuck out his free hand to help Corey up off the ground. The man's eyes looked angry, and he hoped that's just the way his eyes were formed.

As Corey stood up, he brushed off the back of his pants and jacket as he gave the man a head nod before saying "Thank you.". Some awkward eye contact was made before the two started to walk up the path to the top of the canyon. He could have sworn he had never seen the very obvious path that lead to the top of the ridge, but maybe he just looked over it. He stayed behind, staying close to the wall, trying not to slip and fall to the ground, while the man in front of him seemed to have no problem climbing up the slim edge in his slippery combat boots.

Corey didn't dare ask any questions to who seemed like the leader of this cult, or maybe it was a militia? who knows, who cares? all Corey knows is that he is safe and sound for now.

once the two reached the top of the edge, a group of the still assumed cultists were waiting for them, some cheered, others did a little dance, and some threw out a few extra flower petals they had left as it were confetti. the trees around them were dead, and there didn't seem to be any civilization anywhere, except for nine tall, circular towers of different heights in the distance, surrounded by small buildings and what seemed to be light blue glowing lights surrounding the perimeter

The group lead Corey up another small rocky hill. the sun started to sink behind the looming towers as they arrived at a large campsite full off tents and campfires. everyone stopped what they were doing when the rest of the group arrived at the camp and quickly went to the main campfire to prepare. Vultures were watching from the dead trees in the distance, as the people sat Corey down in a chair.

Corey heard the loud buzz of a automatic razor as he felt his hair fall off him head and onto either his lap or the fire. He gritted his teeth as he watched his golden hair fall into the fire, the vultures watching as if to laugh at the boy for his new look.

The man who had just previously saved him walked up to Corey, sticking out his hand for a handshake. He nodded and said with a gritty, yet sweet and calming voice.

    "Welcome to Trench"
