Meeting The Stone Few
Jardon's POV:
Where is this guy taking me? I think to myself as he leads me through and around endless corridors and hallways that all look exactly the same. I haven't seen anyone else around, they must be having a break. Or...something else. I'm about to ask where the hell we're going before he suddenly makes a sharp left turn and there's a solid grey, metal door. It's bolted, locked and password protected. Jeez, they really don't want anybody getting in there do they?
Dr. Cassell covers the pad with one hand and punches in the password with the other. I don't know what the numbers are, but it's a six-number sequence. It makes a loud sound when he's done, and the bolts open. He then pulls out his key and...well, you know what a key does.
The next thing I know, we're walking down some stone steps. It's like technology just decided to merge with the olden days. It's pretty cool actually. But, as we reach the bottom of the steps, there's a long hallway that goes left and right at the end. And all along the passageway are doors just like the first one. It's looks like a damn prison.
"Come along Maron, it's time to meet your allies in this patient battle." Cassell said.
I didn't reply back, just followed him obediently as he led me straight up the hallway and took a right. Of course there were more doors on both sides, but if they really were cells, I don't know how many of then were actually full.
"In here." Dr. Cassell said as he pushed open a two-way wooden door, much more nicer looking than the rest.
Inside was what appeared to be a cafeteria. Tables and chairs all spread out, and a kitchen to the far side. It looked a bit like a grab and go, but I assume there were set hours for eating. Dr. Cassell pushed gently on my shoulder as a gesture for me to follow him. He led me straight up to the kitchen and handed me a tray with already set-out sections.
"So as you might've guessed, this is the cafeteria. There are set hours where you can eat but you can always come here for free-time if you want. That is when it is free-time. I'll...explain the times before you go to bed. I'll give you a schedule too." He explained as he put food on both of our trays.
"Now, there are different times for different groups. At least two groups will have the same times, although they can shake about here and there. You're in group 5, known as The Stone Few. Nobody understands why they're called that except for them and myself. Of course myself, I named them. They'll be here in a minute, they're your allies."
"You mean...Dia...Dianitees?"
"Yup. Don't worry, once they know who you are, they'll accept you instantly. They might need some time warming up to you and trusting you but as long as you're on their side, you'll be fine. I'll appoint one of them to be your guide as well. They'll show you around and teach you the ropes and whatnot. Oh, here they are now."
I followed his gaze as he looked at the door we had just came through. I assume they must have come from one of those many cells. There were actually a lot of them. Despite them splitting off into two groups. I knew they were looking at me, as I glanced down at my food, I could feel their gazes burning into my skin. As they were all getting food, I followed Dr. Cassell as he sat down at a huge round table. Better for sociality I guess. I didn't touch my food. I didn't trust it. Not even the water. And god was I thirsty. I know before this happened I'd been living off of trash and rainwater. But I had no idea what was in this food or what it might do to me.
Dr. Cassell must've noticed this because he took my water, opened it, took a sip and gave it back to me. He knew that I trusted him. And he was right as I began gulping it down. I saw him eating his own food and supposed that it couldn't be any different from the water. So I started eating my mash on my own. By the time I started to enjoy it, The Stone Few came and sat around us. Of course I was nervous as fuck, but Dr. Cassell laid a comforting hand on my shoulder and addressed the table.
"Good afternoon everyone. I'd like you all to meet the newest member of The Stone Few, Jordan Maron."
Everyone chorused 'hi's', 'hello's' and 'what's up's', and it put me at a little more ease as I glanced around and saw them smiling or their eyes shining with kindness and welcome.
"Hi." I squeaked, not wanting to ignore them and be rude.
"Now, would everyone like to introduce themselves? We'll start on my right and work our way around to my left."
"Hi, my name is Tucker, but you'll have to call me Jericho. I'm a demon, have slight power over dark fire, and this is my girlfriend." He emphasised as he wrapped his arm protectively around the person next to him, who laughed and then said.
"Hi, I'm Sonja, but you'll have to call me Firefox, I'm a shapeshifter and this nuthead is my boyfriend." She introduced as she leaned into Jericho's chest.
"I'm Mark, but you'll have call me Darkiplier or Dark for short. I have a parallel dark version of me inside." A short, strong-built man with glasses and a blue floof said.
"Top of the morning to ya laddie, my name is Sean, but you'll have to call me Jacksepticeye or just Jack. And I've got a parallel, unstable version of me inside." Screamed the person next to Dark. Jordan instantly knew he was Irish, and loud.
"My name is James, but you'll have to call me Waglington or just Wag. I have teleportation. Or I would if they didn't drug me up so that I can't us my powers. They think I'd try to escape. And if I hadn't known about The Stone Few, I would've." A boy with floppy brown hair and brown eyes informed.
"Hi, I'm Adam, but you'll have to call me Sky. As you can see, I have wings that change form depending on my mood or state. And I also have powers over the air and wind."
"Aren't they like...the same thing?" Jordan asked, now growing more confident as he got to know everyone.
"No, you see, wind is the thing around you, air...means I could cut off your breathing. And...kill you."
Jordan gulped and held his throat as if he were going to cut off his oxygen right then and there.
"Haha, don't worry," Sky promised. " I'm not gonna hurt ya."
"Oh, well, thankyou."
"Well then laddie," Jack "Might we know who you are?"
"Umm, sure, I guess. Uh...I'm Jordan Maron, 24, I don't have a code name, and I don't, exactly, know who or what I am."
Dr. Cassell clasped his hand on my shoulder and smiled at me proudly. And, for the first time in a long time, I felt safe. Safe with him.
"OH! OH! Can I name you? Pleeeeeeeaaaaase??" Firefox begged.
I shrugged.
"Sure, why not?"
"Okay then, your name is Sparklez!"
"Okay...how did you come up with that? And how did you come up with it so fast?" I asked.
"Simple. When you looked at Dr. Cassell, your eyes changed from brown to a dark blue and sparkled like lapis lazuli!!"
I didn't have a mirror. But I'm pretty sure I turned into a tomato. Suddenly an alarm buzzed loudly and everyone began standing up.
"Alright everyone!" Dr. Cassell started. "Back to your rooms, lights out, we've all got big days tomorrow."
"As usual..." Said Sky to Wag, who sniggered half-heartedly.
"Watch yourself Sky." Dr. Cassell warned playfully.
"You got it doc!" Sky called as he walked out, followed by Wag.
"See ya later Sparklez!!" Firefox called as she walked out as well, linking arms with Jericho.
"Catch ya tomorrow dude!" Jack called as he skipped out, followed by Dark as he gave a small wave and walked away.
"Come on then Sparklez." Dr, Cassell said. "I'll show you to your room."
As I followed him, I smiled to myself. Sparklez. The name was already growing on me. But I couldn't help but wonder. Do I...like...Dr. Cassell?...
I guess I'll find out.
