~ Final Chapter: Goodbye. ~

"Detective Shion, we were finally able to open the door. Do you want to go in first?" Said his colleague he's known for years. He went by the name Kenshin.

"Yeah, give me a sec." Shion replied, slipping on a blue glove on each of his hand. Soon after preparing, the man was ready, and began his walk down the stairs.

"What the hell is that smell?" He swore, pulling his collar over his mouth and nose.

"Clearly something died..." Kenshin commented, following him down the stairs.

Shion glared up at the male trailing down the staircase behind him with a grim expression, finishing his walk down the stairs. "No dip." He replied shortly, gazing ahead.

What he saw ahead of them sickened him to silence, and startled his friend to the point her nearly retreated. "The hell, Ken... What is all this..." Shion muttered, kneeling next to a blonde's body. He gently lifted up his chin, holding the lifeless head. After observing his facial features, he pulled out his small notepad, jotting down on it.

Seijiro Kurasoma, age 17. His birthday was coming up this month, so he'd be turning 18. He's a third year in high school, and was a smart kid.

Once the man was done identifying him, he stood up and followed Kenshin over to the containment object. "Who's the girl?" Shion asked as his coworker carefully opened the cage's door.

"It's the girl Ken and Jyugo was with earlier." He replied, gesturing to the dead male some feet away from Seijiro and the cage.

"Damn, was this a blood bath or what?" He spoke casually, rubbing the back of his messy black hair. "Yeah... the girl seemed like she did all the killing. Maybe it was self-defense."

Shion also thought about that possibility and nodded his head, shifting his gaze to Jyugo.

But soon enough, his eye's widened, noticing something he should've from just one glance.

"No." Shion bluntly stated, and once again, knelt beside the body. Meanwhile, Kenshin was holding his hand over his mouth and nose, checking out the two corpses next to each other. "No? What do you mean?"

'One.' He counted, eyeing each wound on his body. "He was stabbed three times, then beat. The markings seem pretty recent, so I'm guessing he was punched multiple times after he died."

"Who would beat a dead person to death even though they're already dead?" Kenshin asked, flipping out his own notepad and phone. He began to dial in his crew, telling the leader of the squadron to head down the stairs.

'I know who.' Shion thought, standing back up straight. Kentaro was the one who did it, and the evidence was clearly there-it was on his fists.

"Shion, come in here." Kenshin suggested, waving his hand frantically. He hurried over into the cage, narrowing his eyes.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a gas bomb?" Kenshin asked, hearing his crew rush down the stairs.

"Oi, you three. Get this knife and bomb, it's for evidence." Shion demanded, and his little minions did as they were told.

"Just how exactly... Did this happen?"

I'm... Actually dead?

How did this happen?

Was it my fault? I can't really remember...

"Whoa!" He chuckled, jumping halfway down the staircase. On his face was a sinister smile-his glowing red eyes made it more pronounced.

"You're just like me now, a murderer. You're sick, and no one will love you." Kentaro said with a toothy grin, shoving his hands in his pockets. His stare never once left (Y/N) as she risen, watching her tremble.

"I-I didn't mean to! Jyugo attacked me, and Seiji-"

Kentaro clicked his teeth and shook his head, pointing up at the hidden camera. "The evidence is right there," As he continued, his smile wore off; thus, was replaced by a frown. "(N/N). Don't lie to me, I don't like liars."

"Cameras, cameras, cameras! I'm tired of your bullshit, Ken! You realize... all of this is your fault too, right?" She asked, reaching for her left arm. In anger, she bit down on her lip and tightened her grip, looking down towards the floor.

"Huh? That's odd. Whose fault is it? You were just blaming Jyugo before you killed him." As he said this, his footsteps towards her grew faster, and the distance between them closed in as seconds flew by.

Her brow twitched, scared for her useless and meaningless life.

There was nowhere else she could specifically run to. There were the stairs, but she'd have to run past him to make it there though. And judging by his infatuated aura and minister glare, that wasn't going to happen.

(Y/N) then found herself, shoving her body back into the cage Seijiro was just in, hearing him let out a short huff. "Hey, what're you doin' in there (N/N)? Are you scared? I'm not going to hurt the girl I love."

"Liar!" She shouted, closing the cage's door, holding it shut with all the strength she could muster out. No matter how much she tried, he effortlessly launched open the door with a single hand, towering over her.

Now, she was really trapped.

But despite his dominating presence, (Y/N) stood still and shut her eyes tightly, feeling him raise his arm. Something warm had cupped her cheek and began to caress it. She felt soothed, and decided to open her eyes.

Eventually, his hand moved from her cheek to the side of her head, running his fingers through her hair. The pair stood in nothing but silence, but (Y/N) didn't mind as long as he wouldn't harm her.

'He's... not hurting me?'

With a calm and reassuring smirk, he gripped her hair, throwing her head towards one of the metal bars that linked with the object.

(Y/N) couldn't even catch a breath, things went by too fast. 'What...'

'Why's it getting so...dark?'

As blood ran down the side of her head, her eye lids grew heavy dooming Kentaro into a pit of endless laughter. "Mm, your blood is even prettier, (N/N)! Oh, wait, you can't hear me. Now I'm talking to myself."

He sighed, letting her body plummet onto the floor. After confirming she was unconscious, he continued with his plan, and whipped out Mustard Gas. So it'd be more effective, he planned on using it when she awoken.

"We'll be together in the underworld forever, (N/N)... You can meet my father, too, if you want! Jyugo will be there though, if you don't mind. But I won't let him get in the way of our love." He smiled, picturing his perfect utopia burning in hell.

"I left a suicide note at your place so your family won't be suspicious, also." Soon enough, the brunette began to babble and rant, placing his rear end onto the floor next to the girl, helping her up to lean her back against the cage.

"Ah! This place is beautiful, isn't it? We'll have to stay out goodbyes though, since I'm killing you and myself." He bluntly blared out.

Too bad she couldn't hear him and resist. As anxiousness and uneasiness filled the young boy's mind, he clicked his tongue and risen to his feet, marching to the basement's door. He had made a key, a spare key, for the basement, locking the two inside on the other side.

"We need privacy..." He said as he removed the key from the hole, twisting the knob to make sure it was locked. After that was done with, he hummed as he skipped back down the stairs, parking a seat next to (Y/N) once again.

"I can't wait anymore, I feel like someone will catch me..." Kentaro sighed. It almost sounded as if he was lonely, and had no interest in killing her, only himself.

Kentaro took a glance over at her body, but more specifically, her facial features. Oh how he longed to be alone with her, to do her, but he resisted for a good amount of time. Then, he placed his thumb on her cheek, inching closer to fer face.

She reeked with the sweet stench of blood and guilt, which he loved more than anything else.

His lips touched hers while fondling over the gas kept in a glass container, and with a click, allowed the gas to release. The gas managed to spread quickly and filled the room with a good amount of poisonous gas. It was a somewhat small basement after all.

He pulled away and took in a big whiff of air, and almost in an instant, his chest felt heavy.

There was pain, followed by a suffocating feeling. As blisters formed on his lungs, the more excruciating the agony got. It was more painful than he ever anticipated, but there was no backing down now.

'I don't...want her feeling this pain.' He thought, crashing onto the floor as he clenched his chest. Though he said that with the sweetest tone and seniority, face showed otherwise.

There was a twisted smile on his face as tears slipped from his eyes, begging to be free; yet, wanting nothing but destruction. 'Who am I kidding... No one should be happy, especially not her.'

"So... he killed himself and his little girlfriend?" Detective Shion asked, ruffling his hair. Even though he asked for clarification, he knew the answer, and was speechless.

"Yep. And it wasn't quick for the either of them." Kenshin said, tilting his head over at his crew. It was like a signal for them to scurry over and collect the evidence.

"I bet. I mean, they were locked in a room with poison." Shion chuckled, removing himself from the cage. He felt uncomfortable. And even though Kentaro was dead, he felt like he was next.

"Hey, Shion. The twins' mom... where is she?" His partner in crime asked, and Shion around to answer his question.

Or so he thought.

"I don't know." He replied with honesty, turning to the male who wore glasses, crouched near the bodies to examine them. "Oi, four eyes! Where's this kid's mom?"

He hated that nickname.

With a long, heavy, and pained sigh, the male stood up, adjusting his glasses on the arch of this nose.

"Chief, I've told you this before. My name is Zut-"

"Zugo! Right, right, alright now answer. Where is she right now? We've got some questions for her." Zuto's brow twitched in irritation, but didn't give in to his anger. "She's currently in an Insane Asylum. I can set up an appointment if that's what you desire." He said calmly, but Shion shook his head. "No need, let's just march right on in there. Kenshin, tell your people to stay back if they have to. But you and I are heading out."

His friend willingly obliged, standing up to his feet as well.

Once they arrived, they met with the twins' mother, and had a long conversation with her. She was mentally unstable, and made it extremely difficult to speak to her normally. But after some time, they managed.

The door slid open as the pair exited, stepping out of the room. "Doesn't she look a lot like the girl Kentaro killed?" Kenshin asked as he glanced off to the side.

"Don't be ridiciou-"

The moment the doors closed, Shion froze, clicking his tongue. "Shit."

I always thought it was a typo.

And the noise outside my window...

It was a sound of a twig, snapping under someone's foot. He was outside every. Single. Day.
