Point of View: Patton, First Person
Timeline: Present Day, While Virgil and Ollie are at Fairy Godmother's
I pushed the door open into the storage room and gasped, once again star-bound by all the gems floating around. The dark wooden themed room was dimly lit, the gems themselves being the only source of light. The multicolored lights were - were beautiful. I felt myself gasp and the tears start to form in my eyes at the sight. They were so beautiful, but it was so sad that this was the best we could do for them.
Well hopefully they won't be here much longer if this works.
"Do you think you can do it?" Logan questioned from behind me. I glanced back at him to see him hovering in the dark wooden doorway, a square of light from the hallway coming from behind him. Sparks - so cute - was sitting at his side, poking his hand playfully with her nose. Logan simply moved his hand away, lifting both his hands to cross them over his chest. I noticed the way his lips curved downwards in worry and I couldn't help wanting to just to kiss him until he smiled again. "Do you think you can save them?"
"I hope so," I admitted. "I just have to have... a little bit of faith," I returned, stepping closer to the nearest gem - a beautiful bright yellow topaz gem, in a bright yellow bubble. I reached my hand forward towards the pastel yellow bubble that holds the precious side -
"Wait!" Logan cried out, hand shooting forward - panic written all over his features.
I jumped back, startled. "What?!" I asked, panicked. "What's wrong?!"
"Y-You're just - just going to - to grab it? W-What's your plan, what are you - " Logan ran a hand quickly through his hair. "W-What if you get hurt? W-What - What if this - this is - is a b-bad idea? I - " Logan exhaled harshly, silence bouncing between us. "You were just going to - to just grab it? And then what?"
Sparks whined at Logan's feet - it seems that she had taken a liking to him. Logan hardly seemed to notice her, ignoring her and I felt a - a small wave of disappointment roll over me and for a second I wondered if the feeling was coming from Logan or me.
"I mean... what - what are - how?" Logan stammered, hands now in tight fists.
I shrugged. "It just felt... right," I explained.
Logan exhaled harshly, running hand through his hair. "Patton, I don't like this. I - This is a bad idea, please let's try to find another solution."
"We don't know how much time we have left," I argued. "This is the only thing we have, Logan. I'm sorry, I have to try."
"Patton, I can't just - just let you do this, blindly - with - with no plan of action, no ideas as to watch could possibly go wrong - "
"If you can't watch then turn around," I looked back towards the topaz gem. "I have to do this."
"Please, no Patton, you don't have to p-please, please, please, Patton," Logan pleaded and I was surprised to see his eyes start to water.. "Think this through. W-What if something bad happens?"
"What if something good happens?"
"The risk isn't worth it! Please Patton, just - just give me a little more time," Logan begged and as much as I wanted to give in, I shook my head. "They need me, Lo. I'm sorry," I whispered, reaching forward and wrapping my fingers around the topaz gem -
----------
Darkness.
I blinked, confused as I noticed a faint yellow glow ahead of me.. This... wasn't what I expected. "Hello?" I called out.
The yellow blur slowly got closer as we both moved towards each other. "... Hello? Who... Who are you?" they asked, their voice quiet but... oddly strong at the same time. As we got closer, they become easier to see.
He was wearing white pants and an off-white sweater, a bright yellow t-shirt peeking out from underneath. His hands were shoved shyly in his pockets and he blinked curiously at me from behind large clear-framed glasses.
"Uh, hi there kiddo! I'm Morality. I came here to help bring you back...?"
The side just looked confused. "W-What do you mean? Have I been gone?"
I hesitated before nodding. "The Imagination was attack by a hellhound three-ish weeks ago. You've been... here," I waved a hand the darkness. "Ever since."
Instead of looking like shocked or least determined to get out of here, he just looked even more confused. "Um, this might seem... odd," he said finally. "But I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. What's the Imagination? And a hellhound? And what you mean your Morality? Who are you? And - And who am I?"
I bit my lip. He doesn't remember who he is?
"You're a side of a person named Thomas Sanders," I coaxed quietly. "Does that ring a bell?"
"Um, no," the side admitted, shifting even more expression becoming more and more nervous by the second.
And then I felt it, a small... almost a pull. Almost like a tiny voice, whispering what I needed to do. "I - I think I can help you," I whispered softly, taking a step closer. "Can you close your eyes?"
The side hesitated.
"I'm not going to hurt ya, kiddo," I reassured. "Please?"
The side hesitantly nodded, closing his eyes.
I took another tiny step forward, placing my hands on his temples. "Remember your name... remember who you are, the ones that love you, the ones that you love... you have to fight to get back to them, fight to see them again... they'll need you, need your support - "
----------
I blinked as the setting slowly changed to the inside of a small one-room cabin. The yellow side that I'd just met was a couple feet away from me, a white fuzzy blanket wrapped around his legs while a book rested in his hands. Another side - dressed in dark green button up long sleeve shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows and black jeans. He was eating a bowl of cereal at a large dark brown dining table, his purple hair perfect. The green side glanced towards the other.
"Hey Pax," the green side started.
The yellow side - Pax, I guess - eyes shot up from the book he was reading, quietly listening.
"Do you think we'll ever be powerful enough to live in the Mind Palace?" The green side sighed, eyes lost in a daydream. "I bet that my room would just have a bunch of video games. And maybe some board games. And maybe a trampoline."
Pax laughed at this, clearly amused. "You can have all of that if you want now, WIll" he explained. "Nothing is stopping you. You can literally create all of that right now."
"I knnoowwww," Will pouted, dropping his head into his hands. "But it would just feel - feel better, make me better if the other sides knew just how important I was to Thomas. If they just - if they just knew -"
"They made their decision, William," Pax's eyes dropped back to his book. "And living in the imagination is perfectly fine. It's just about the same anyway," Pax argued, closing his book and leaning back into the cream colored couch cushions.
The green side - Will - pouted. "Well either way, I'm ready for a change.'"
Pax raised his eyebrows, fixing his clear framed glasses that were starting to fall off his face. "Alright, what kind of change are you thinking?" he questioned, head tilting curiously to the side, kinda like a puppy.
"How about we take a vacation?!" Will suggested, grinning. "Just the two of us, out in the sea on a big boat, loud music, and - and PUPPIES!" The green side swept his arms around dramatically, quickly jumping to his feet.
Pax completely laughed at that, doubling over at Will's expansive gestures. Will grinned wider at that, eyes brightening just that little bit more.
"Come on, Pax! Doesn't it sound like so much fun?" Will said, leaving his unfinished cereal behind as he sat next to Pax on the couch, sliding next to him under the blanket.
"Sure," Pax admitted. "How about tomorrow?" he said, cuddling closer to the side.
"Why not today?" Will asked, glancing down at the other side.
"I just wanna cuddle," Pax mumbled, wrapping his arms around the other.
The green side chuckled. "Okay. Tomorrow then," he agreed.
BOOM.
Both guys looked at each other in surprise and I frowned. What was that? "Did you hear that?" the green side asked Pax, shoving the blanket off. Pax quickly nodded. Both sides suddenly grew serious. "Something's wrong, wait here."
"Wait, Will," Pax stumbled out of the blankets, fixing his clear glasses as little as they started to slide down his nose yet again. "Wait!" he called out. "I'm not just gonna - "
"Stay inside, Pax," Will returned, already walking out the large wooden door, closing it behind him.
"Absolutely not," Pax frowned, quickly following him out the door. "Will! Will, come back!"
Pax pushed the door open and was shocked at what he saw. "Oh my..."
"RUN!" Will screamed, grabbing Pax's hand and sprinting away from the house. "RUN PAX!!"
It took no further convincing for both sides to start sprinting towards the outside of Imagination.
I raced after them. I wasn't even sure why, but I could feel a burning heat at my neck and I didn't take a the time to look.
"Where the heck is that doing here?! How did a hellhound get on this side of the Imagination?!" Will yelled, grabbing Pax's hand and almost dragging him along.
"I don't know!" Pax returned, taking a moment to glance.
"WILL LOOK OUT!!" Pax screamed, throwing himself on top of the other side but it was too late, they hadn't gotten far enough the both sides were engulfed in ball of flame.
----------
I gasped, surprised to find myself suddenly sprawled out on the floor on the storage room, glasses crooked on my face, my vision blurred. I winced as pain shoot through my wrist and I realized that I must've fallen on it.
"Patton!" I heard and then Logan was at my side, I didn't have to see to know it was Logan. He skidded to the floor next to me - which must've hurt - and one of his hands gently rested on my cheek while the other fixed my glasses. "Oh my goodness, are you okay?! You - You just dropped," he cried out, eyes searching mine almost desperately, making sure that I was okay.
I was stunned I couldn't even respond. I blink up at him, hardly able to believe it. Logan's eyes were dark and wide and concerned and I found myself staring at them until I was almost dizzy - almost unable to comprehend the amount of love that was coming off of him in waves.
Logan seemed to suddenly remember himself and our current situation, quickly pulling back and getting to his feet and my heart sank a little. "U-Uh, yeah, I'm okay."
"M-Morality?"
At the sound of my job, I frowned turning aro-
Oh my goodness.
Pax was lying disheveled on the floor behind me. His sweater was rumpled and yellow shirt crooked underneath. His purple hair was messily over his face and he had a perplexed expression on his face.
"Morality? Is - Is that you?" he tried.
"Pax?" I whispered, dropping to my knees in front of him. "A-Are you okay, kiddo?"
"I - I'm Loyalty," Pax looked up at me. "I'm Thomas Sanders's Loyalty," he repeated, a looking a little stunned.
I - I did it. It worked, it worked, IT WORKED.
