The Game Is Afoot!
Chieko bid L goodbye, and made her way out of the restaurant and to the small college radio set only a mere block from her dorm. She set down her bag and sat down at a table with a large
"Hello, I'm Chieko Miyamoto, the new host." She greeted everyone on the radio lengths. Just as she had aspired to do: sharing music with the world.
"And I'm sure all of you out there are just itching for the new music, so I came to do just that!" Light had turned the volume on his television almost silent at her voice. Ryuk, sitting on Light's bed eating an apple, noticed Light's change in attention.
"What's up?" He asked, but Light was listening to Chieko's steady and soft voice as it came to him through his radio. This was not the Light Ryuk knew. He was softer, and much less like the psycho Kira who had shaken the world with his powers.
"That girl," Light began, turning off the radio finally after about two hours and returned to writing names. "She's something else."
"In what way?" Ryuk was about to laugh at the human's silly feelings. Kira had to stay on his toes; for all anyone knew,
This Chieko could be a spy for L.
But, of course, Light had already saw this possible turn on the road ahead. Although, the interest in her every move, the way she smiles, the way her words form in her vocal chords; everything was interesting.
~~~~~~Le epic time skip brought to you by L's Sweet Shop.
"Sorry, Ryuga, I was a bit late due to traffic." Chieko apologized as she entered the hotel suite. There, stood not only the strange L, but a handful of the Japanese police. She smiled, and waved before bowing deeply. Making her auburn hair fall from her shoulder.
"No problem, call me Ryuzaki, from here on out." L informed her and she nodded.
"Hello, I am Chieko Miyamoto from Hong Kong." She introduced herself. A man about her height, black hair that swept into his excited eyes, stood in front of her now.
"I've got this guys-" he said before pointing his hands in a gun shape at Chieko's head.
"...BANG!" He exclaimed. Chieko only raised her eyebrows at the strange man. At the moment, he even seemed weirder than L to her.
"You shouldn't give you're name out so easily. You-"
"Actually, there was no need, Matsuda." L cut off the man who appeared to be Matsuda, "Chieko Miyamoto is perfectly safe from Kira's wrath, because that is not her true identity." Matsuda gave a dumbstruck look to Chieko. She simply stood with a bored expression. 'These cops are very naïve.' Thought Chieko, 'With that in mind, these people could simply be molded into Kira's pawns.'
"Alright!" She finally speaks, clapping her hands together, "Are we gonna catch a killer, or what?" She couldn't help but grin. True, it was almost disgusting what Kira was doing, but the thrill of a criminal as smart as herself was very rare.
"Kira alone killed fifty American secret agents." L informed her, walking back to his chair and crouching on it once again as the chief of the Japanese police handed her the files she needed. She looked quickly though the pages; merely skimming the words.
"Did you think that Kira could be one of the people being investigated though-"
"Through the fourteenth of December and the 27th of December? Yes, we've already assumed."
"Did you check the suspect list?"
"Of course."
"Were there any people acting suspicious?"
"No. I checked, and double checked." L replied.
"Alright, have you searched the people to see if any of them are who you suspected?" She asked. It was a stupid question to her; of course the great L had already thought of that! But L simply sat there, looking at her.
"...No. I did not ever think of that." He admitted. She raised her eyebrows in surprise.
"Light could've been one being followed at that time." She said, and stopped looking as she came upon a certain agent.
Raye Penber, to be exact.
"So, this Raye Penber, died thirty to forty minutes after his colleagues did? That's different. Because if he was simply like everyone else, he would've been killed at the same time too." Chieko commented, and L's eyes widened before rushing over to her side.
"You're right. What if he was investigating someone, and somehow, Kira stumbled across this agent and used him as a pawn in killing the others." L pushed his thumb up to his lips again; a bad habit.
"Did anyone else hear Ryuzaki just say that someone other than himself was right?" Matsuda asked his colleagues in astonishment.
"What are you saying?" the chief asked. "Were not as smart as you, as you can see."
"It means, get me everything on him. Every death (accidental or not) that have occurred within that timeframe and everywhere he was last spotted in that time." Chieko felt her heart skip a beat from the excitement of it all. Nothing could stop her mind in this moment.
~~~~~~
Now was a new day at TO-OH university as Chieko strides on the walkway as she kept all attention on the encrypted notes she had learned to take during classes that were meaningless to her. Every man she passed stopped and couldn't help but look her way as her knee length navy skirt twisted and turned around her thighs.
Her loosely knitted sweater was falling off her shoulder ever so slightly, but he barely noticed.
"Chieko!" Light called out, a smile being brought to his face as she finally came out of the dark recesses of her mind.
"Yes?" She asked calmly. He walked up to her; dressed in a tennis sports short and shorts.
"I just wanted to talk, you know, about yesterday." He scratched the back of his neck to look uncomfortable speaking in public.
"Hey! Light! Chieko!" Turning their heads slightly, there stood Ryuzaki, in the same attire as yesterday, and walking up to them.
"Hey, Ryuzaki." Chieko greeted him warmly. While on the other hand, Light was so pissed he couldn't simply kill L right then an there. But he had went home after their conversation, and thought. If L is working with the police, and his father also was working with L, they'd know exactly it was Light Yagami who was Kira after L introduced himself to Light. And the fact that said: was this even L?
"Light, you play tennis?" Ryuzaki questioned. He nodded in response.
"You wanna play against me?" Light grinned. This want simply a game, it was a test.
