Pictures of Ugly Asses Gets Us Nowhere

Chieko sighed in bed as she heard her alarm clock go off next to her. She was tired, and as she got dressed for the day ahead, she realized it was a Saturday.

"Thank god." She mumbled as her head plopped back down onto her pillow where she sighed happily. She had been up all last night helping her radio station decorating the all purpose gym of OH-OH for the freshman dance. She quietly got her corner of the gym done at exactly twelve-forty and exited without a soul finding out. Her phone went off. She groaned in her pillow and rose her head up to answer it.

"Hello?" She sleepily spoke into the phone.

"Ah, Chieko! If you were sleeping, I can call back." Light spoke calmly. She yawned and sat up.

"No, please continue, it would be a waste of time if I were to sleep anymore." She replied. She could almost feel his warm smile through the phone.

"Well, you see, there is a Freshman class dance at the university tomorrow, and I was wondering if you were going with anyone?" She thought long and hard. Chieko guessed if she was going to go, other would either be with Light Yagami,

Or Ryuzaki.

"I was supposed to attend and be the Disc Jokey." Chieko informed Light.

"Oh," She could hear Light hold his breath. Most likely he was going to ask Chieko to the-
"Would you like to go with me? When you're shift is over with being the DJ, of course. "
Yeah. Exactly what she predicted.

"Sure." She answered dully. Picking her nails, she memorized the date and time that Light droned on through the phone. Afterwards, she got dressed in a light knitted sweater and threw some jeans on while pulling on her beanie cap upon her head on the way out of the door. She looked up from her phone, and realized a large photoshoot stood between the her and the hotel in which Chieko was supposed to meet the others.

"Damn, today is simply not my day." She sighed and took the long way around; leaving her to her thoughts. As she passed, a young girl in the middle of flashing lights caught her attention.

"Misa! Misa! Look this way!" One photographer called to the woman, and made Chieko rethink about her faith in the human race.
People will never even be able to build flying cars if they sit there and take pictures of her ugly ass. She thought. It brought a smile to her face. Flipping her hair, she was keen on staying on time to the hotel.

"Sorry for the holdup." She announced as Watari opened the door, "photoshoot took up the two blocks."

"No need to apologize; lets simply continue our search." Ryuzaki said; turning his attention back to his cup of coffee; proceeding to put five more lumps of sugar in. She shrugged off her cardigan and joined him as he was looking at a catalogue with bugs and cameras. "We've narrowed down who Ray Pember was following, and I came to an agreement with Mr. Yagami to put listening devices with cameras into Light's room."

"Yeah, and?" She suspected he had another thing to add on.

"Well, I was going to ask you to accompany Watari to install them." He turned to Chieko, a spoonful of sugar daring to fall into the coffee once more. She sighed, and nodded before sitting back into the red cushions of her own armchair.

"Yeah, I guess," she answered, "but Watari needs to listen to exactly everything I point out. We are dealing with a genius, and I'm guessing he wouldn't leave his house without some kind of defense set up."

"I will listen as intently as I can, miss Miyamoto." Watari bowed before leaving the group of inspectors to their own devices. They discussed much, but got little done. In the end, nothing was accomplished; making everyone a bit down, but not without hope. The theories of Kira's so called 'killing power' began to stack up in her mind until there were an umpteen amount.

Super villain? She thought before snorting at the idea. Yeah, he totally fell in a vat of toxic waste. She sighed and looked out of the window from the hotel's fourth story room. It was now dark, and the lights of the Japanese city were alight like fireflies in a tall patch of grass; the morning dew taking the chance to condensate as they flashed their bright asses. That was another thing she just didn't understand. Why do they light their ass up to catch the eye of a mate?

"Chieko," she turned her head around to see Ryuzaki walking to stand next to her near the window. Everyone was gone now, she realized. "There's a dance tomorrow at TO-OH, and I simply wished you to take caution when you see Light. I may not have any evidence to say that he is Kira, but I have this gut feeling..."

"So do I. I don't trust anyone farther than I can throw them, so perhaps that's why I wasn't to surprised when you said you were L." She shrugged. "If you're so concerned, why don't you come as well? It's not like anything bad will happen." Ryuzaki thought on this for a minute. His culmination was that it would be more of a pro than a con to come.

"Sure. See you there." He rubbed at one of the large bags under his eyes, and scratching his head before looking back out at the skyline. "What do you see?" He asked impulsively. She smiled, looking out.

"A battlefield. Where two sides of the law fight to be right." She briskly replied before picking up her bag and leaving.

Chieko was putting on the finishing touches; while straightening her navy and whicker-bound wedges. The doorbell rang just as se had grabbed her small purse, and she ran to get it. Cursing the fact that she had now fallen due to the taller height.

"Hello, Chieko." Light greeted her warmly with a smile, and looked at her dress. The one she had worn for the entrance ceremony was pressed and vibrant from being washed. Chieko curtsied to him; a smirk playing on her face when Light held his hand out to her. She took it, and walked along with him to the university.

The walk seemed stuck in a endless silence between the two, and finally broken by Chieko.

"So, what am I to you?" She asked, "and who do you think I am?"

"I think you're a bright, intelligent woman who has the ability to catch Kira." He replied cooly. True, this interest kept him entertained, he finally came to his senses and decided to take Chieko not only as a friend,

But another deadly player in his game.

"Now, let's take the night off, and have a little fun." He guided Chieko into the all purpose gym. It was almost pitch black; other than the blinding lights that flickered in all colors everywhere, not to mention the ear-deafening noise. Couples of all kinds conversed as others took to the dance floor vigorously. The DJ spotted Chieko before she even saw him, and he left his station with a smile.

"Already here for your shift, Chieko?" He asked, and she instantly recognized the DJ as Rui.

"Hey. Yeah, go and dance!" She laughed as he winked, before pulling one girl to the dance floor. His black hair was slicked back -with what seemed like- a bottle of gel. The more she looked at her friend, Chieko realized that he looked surprising similar to Loki.

She snorted. There's no way anyone can be a god.
