Hello Japan

Autumn groaned as she face planted into the cushions of her bed. She had realized halfway from walking home that her bike was left at the police station, causing her to walk back to the station sheepishly. This made her even later getting home. The TV blasted the horrible incident from the other night, only lulling Autumn more into her dreamless sleep.

"Autumn....sweetie...WAKE UP!!" Her mothers voice suddenly crescendoed until it was ear splitting. Flailing her arms in all directions, Autumn arose from the ground where she had fallen. This caused Terra Salazar to laugh at her daughter to cover up the small tears that were held in her eyes. And once she was up and dressed, her mother showed her the packed suitcases that were neatly stacked in the living room.

"I could've done this myself." She rolled her eyes at her mother's careful packing.

"I just wanted to get it done faster." She smiled handing one ticket to the girl and pulling her into a warm embrace. "Remember to call me every month or so."

"A'ight. Mother." Autumn smiled as she placed her head comfortably on Terra's shoulder.

The airport was uncomfortably crowded, but Chief Elric made this easy on Autumn's social anxiety by creating a path with the police force.

"This isn't necessary." She gave a smirk of amusement to him, but he smiled back a smile brighter than a 65 watt lightbulb.

"We're giving you a proper send off." He replied cooly, but inside, he honestly wanted to say goodbye to the nineteen year old that changed his career. Hec, his life. She nodded, understanding the meaning behind it. Within the hour, she saw as the police force and her mother waved goodbye as the plane rose high into the air. She sat back in her chair and smiled to herself. Because this is just the beginning, and never the end. She would see them again; she was certain. She slept and listened to her music, and before she knew it, there it was; Japan.

Hello Seattle, I am a mountaineer in the hills and highlands. I fall asleep in hospital parking lots, and awake, in your mouth.

The song seemed perfect for the moment. There was the landing strip; perfectly black with no crack in sight from the heights she was. Taking out her fake pass port and name, she showed them to the security guard where he pointed her in the right direction. Chieko Miyamoto. New student from Australian outback where she was given a full ride to TO-OH University. Easily, she caught up to where the Japanese police were by seeing when every criminal died. Seeing that they were the same schedule as a graduating senior in any Japanese school, she took a stab in the ark and chose to attend that particular college. She changed the lyrics to fit the scene better.

Hello Japan I am a manta ray deep beneath the blue waves. I'll crawl the sandy bottom of putrid sounds, and construct, a summer home.

She took out her map, analyzing where she needed to be, Autumn Salazar, or Chieko Miyamoto, took a right at the corner.

Hello Japan I am the crescent moon, shining down on your face. I will disguise myself as a sleeping pill, and descend, into you.

"Excuse me." She struggled with her language, but caught the attention of the young, handsome, and caramel haired boy.

"I can see you're new to the campus. What year are you going into?" He asked with perfect english. she sighed in relief.

"Yeah, and my first. I'm Chieko Miyamoto." She finally introduced herself.

"I am Light Yagami." The man smiled.

Hello Japan I am a cold seahorse, feeling warm, in your sand. I sing about, the tides and the ocean sun, rolling in the evening breeze.

Chieko finally reached her dorm with the help of many students along the way. Sighing, she entered the dorm to find no roommate. Just the way she liked it. The letter on the door welcomed her as the third student to get a high score on the entrance exams, putting her in the role of motivating the new freshman. This pulled a groan of frustration out of the young girl as stress marks seemed to grow while the pencil tip hit the paper. And before Chieko could even blink, she was out like a light.

The next morning was a blur as Chieko rushed to get dressed into a simple indigo dress with long sleeves, hoping they would hide the bracelets that were tied into her wrist and the doodles made by sharpie. Entering the auditorium, it seemed a pair of eyes followed her like a moth to light. (Heh. Very punny right there.) Sitting in her assigned seal next to a man by the name of Kogami, she sat with an arched back in a lazy way as the first speech by the principle was given. The eyes still burned in the back of her head, but she dare not turn to see who.

Light Yagami found himself staring at the girl exactly ten seats in front of him. Her auburn hair stood out as much as his own, but it was combed and styled in a beautiful way to him. Yes, indeed, there was no doubt,

Light Yagami found love in the girl at first sight-or, at least a newfound interest.

"And now a speech from our top student, Light Yagami!" The principle clapped along with the rest of the class as he stood, brushing off some invisible dust before walking forward. He notched the girl, her name branded to the back of his mind. Chieko Miyamoto. She sat still slouched over and a bored expression on her face. After all, she had already been through Oxford's finest university and finished in approximately two years easily.

"And our second top student, getting the same grade, Hideki Ryuuga!" Whispers rose from the crowd like magma from a volcano, filling the room with doubt and rumors as the man named after a Japanese pop star came on stage with no shoes, a ragged white, long sleeved shirt, and dark blue jeans. This captured Chieko's attention, with suspicion woven in as well. Their speeches were totally different, but in the end, meaning nothing to the students who predicted a speech as generic as theirs to come up sooner or later int heir lifespan.

"And another motivational speech from our third top student, Chieko Miyamoto!" She rose from her seat and walked up the steps to the stage and the podium.

"Hello." She began, taking out the paper she hastily wrote. Taking a deep breath, she though: this is it.

"I'm not gonna tell you something you already knew. I'm not gonna state, 'always try your hardest!' And 'you've got to work hard to move on.' I'm simply saying, these years will mold us. Change our core self. Who knows what the future holds; I see a few doctors, builders, helpers, dreamers, hec, even a few criminals." Hearing even the word criminals caused Light's hand to grasp the fabric of his pants. "Because this world is a story; and all of us are the characters played out for all to see, and if we don't make every second count, that's just another page that was written for nothing." She finished, looking up and bowing slightly. The room still stayed quiet.

And then there was a clap. One single clap against the void of silence. More joined it, and soon, everyone stood, whistling their motivation and appreciation. Her smile only grew, making Light's grow as well. Hideki Ryuuga looked over Chieko's shoulder to find a blank and crumbled paper with no words except for two hastily scribbled on. One would almost take them as squiggles.

Hello Japan.

Heh, long time no see...sorry about not updating. Wattpad said I published this awhile ago, but it never showed up, and I copied it, but it didn't copy, and then I was like, DAFUQ?? So then I accidentally deleted the whole second chapter, and so, yeah. This one is better in some ways, but in other ways, it's not. Get what I mean?
