Faker's Attention
Chieko yawned lazily at yet another one of the secret secret meetings of the four geniuses.
"I don't understand why you won't take my theory serious. It's totally possible for Kira to kill in other ways. Who knows; that might be the oversight that you needed." Mello rolled his eyes at the young girl.
"Wouldn't he have used this then when he killed all those large criminals? Or even Lind L. Taylor?" He sneered a question back at her.
"Because at the time he didn't need to use it!" Chieko whined; pulling a hand through her hair. "A heart attack has no criminal to blame, so he thought it could never be traced back!" This conversation had gone far too long. Ryuzaki's facial expression was dull. Nothing was continuing forward, and after he had Watari and Chieko take out the cameras in the Yagami household, it seemed like a dead end.
"Let's adjourn this meeting for now. It seems all we are going to do is bicker." He sighed and stood up to throw his Popsicle stick into the trash. Chieko glared as Mello and Matt left her dorm room.
"This is getting us nowhere Ryuzaki!" She complained, throwing her hands into the air.
"Patience."
"Patience is boring." She groaned. "Dull. Predictable."
"Tomorrow we will be able to keep a better eye on Light since he will be on the investigative team." He reminded her, but Chieko still brewed. He sighed and sat down beside her as she thought deeply.
"Hopefully. But I believe he's already made a huge risk. Ray Pember's death plays a part in this. And that death was a risky move for Kira, Though, I only know he realized the FBI in some way,"
"I thought so as well." Ryzaki confirmed her, shocked at the quickness of her catching up to him on theories.
"-if he could make people do stuff before he died, what if he made Pember tell him the name of the man in charge of the FBI. There's always a pressure point, possibly threatened his fiancé. Then, all he would have to do is make him tell him the chief of the FBI 's name, make the chief send a file with the names of all the other agents to everyone -including Raye- but from there..." She trailed off; rubbing her temples with her fingertips.
".....I have no idea how he killed them without one of their laptops." Threat? Chieko asked herself. No, Kira wouldn't threaten him to give their names. He didn't have a face.
"Leave that situation in the past." Ryuzaki advised her. "It does not do one good to dwell in the past." She groaned and stood up to look at him directly in the eyes.
"See this case like a fine line; one mistake could cost the killer his life." She grabbed a pen, Ryuzaki's wrist, and sat down at her recliner once more. "Everything that happens isn't a coincidence. Nothing ever is. Now, we're dealing with a genius. Not anyone can keep that a secret. The best genius we know that fits everything that we know such as a college student and a large I.Q. is Light." She then drew a line, adding what she had said to the sides of the line.
"Yes, but how does this have anything to do with Ray-"
"Who was Ray supposed to be following but a week before he died?"
Light Yagami. She knew it.

"Hello Matsuda." Chieko greeted as she passed him. The meeting of the Kira investigation was underway, and Matsuda once again started out on a bad note as he acted like a child. Chief Yagami looked passively in the corner of the room towards Ryuzaki's, who at the time was sitting next to Chieko.
"Light should be here soon." He murmured under his breath, and chills of uneasiness were easy to be seen.
"Oi. Yagami." Chieko turned around in her seat and gave a frown towards the father. His emotions are putting him at odds. Now that's something they didn't need. She gave a soft smile as his attention was caught. "We'll find that bastard of a Kira and give him one good for making Light look like a killer." She saw him physically relax. Chieko once again set a frown onto her face and turned around to the large flat screen TV.
"Why did you lie?" Ryuzaki's whispered as he took his spoon in between his index fingers. "You are the one leading the investigation against Light."
"We need to work as a team still. And a team needs to be knitted together with trust in each other." She took a sip of her bitter coffee; scrunching up her eyes and hand reaching for the sugar. "Resentment will only lead to our demise."
"Perhaps it is best that you are on this case." Ryuzaki pondered, setting three cubes of sugar into her coffee for her. "You know much more about human feelings than I will ever. I find emotions distracting."
"And yet the emotion of hate and interest towards Kira is what drives you forward to being him to justice." Chieko smiled. "There's no "I" in team, remember?"
"Yes." Ryuzaki replied; placing a thumb to his lips thoughtfully. "And there's no Light in Kira. But I'm starting to have my doubts about that." She chuckled as someone knocked on the hotel door. Soon after, light Yagami entered the room with his tote bag in hand.
"Yo, Light." Chieko waved to him from her seat on the ivory sofa. He waved back, but a sting of jealousy painted his mind as he looked to see Ryuzaki crouching next to her. "Get everyone over here; something interesting happening." She took the remote from the mahogany table and turned on the dark TV. Watari had informed her as she entered the room hours ago.
"As of a few hours ago, the staff and producers are Kira hostages. Aside from that, we are obligated to show this tape." A stressed man stood at a table. "I assure you this is not a hoax, and Sakura TV is not airing this with the goal of sensationalism." Chieko scoffed, causing Light to hold back a grin. Yet, even he wondered; who was this other Kira?
"Four days ago, the director of Sakura TV received four tapes. After thorough examination, there can be no doubt that they are from Kira himself. The first tape's content was predictions on the next two criminals to be killed-"
"Never in my life have I ever had to catch such a lowly, childish, arrogant, son of a-" Chieko gritted her teeth only to be silenced by a hand on her shoulder. Light's hand, to be precise.
"-Kira has instructed us to show the first tape at exactly 5:59 PM. And we intend to comply with his demands." The anchorman told the other crew to play the tape and the screen became white. The words Kira in black. The font like Old English Text. It seemed to Chieko, mimicking that of L's first appearance. But something was off.
"I am Kira." Chieko's eyes widened and chills ran up her spine. The thrill. It was exhilarating. "If this video was shown as I instructed on April 18, then the time is exactly 5:59, 47, 48, 49....please change the channel to the one below. The anchorman will die from a heart attack at exactly 6:00." Ryuzaki turned his eyes to see the girl next to him. Chieko looked outraged as she snatched the remote and flipped the channel. There he was, as regular as an anchorman should be.
"Let me see your watch for a second," Ryuzaki asked before taking ahold of Chieko's tricep and placing it in front of his face to see the metal watch on her wrist. Just 5 more seconds.
The man was talking about sports; a rather boring subject for Chieko, but she watched with intent to find Kira's method of killing. Then, in the middle of the Soccer league report, the man's brown eyes widened and he grasped the skin over his heart as he gave out a cry before dropping dead.
"It can't be!" Cried Matsuda. He seemed just as shocked as the rest of them.
"Why would he kill him?" Light asked himself; as if he were horrified. Damn this Kira faker! Is what he truly thought.
"Now change the channel back." Ryuzaki quickly ordered, and Chieko obeyed. "And Watari, bring us another TV. No, make that two!" He saw Watari scurry off behind him.
"I'll give you another victim." The voice said calmly. "This one is the commentator on MHN TV. He too, has defied Kira's power." And just like before, Chieko changed the channel just in time to see the commentator groan and have his head slump onto the table.
"DAMN IT!" Ukita exclaimed, slamming his hand into the table, and making Chieko jump in fright. He can kill. She thought. Oh my god, what if I'm next? The broad cast ended giving the Japanese police a choice; give up on Kira or die. If to give up, then L must show his face.
"Wait- doesn't Kira need a name and a face?" She murmured to herself. Odd. Then everything went back to normal; the news continued, and so did everyone else.
But she stood still; frozen on which path was best. Little did the Australian detective know, she was shaking in fear. Both Light and Ryuzaki took note; and both tried to comfort her. She shook off both men and laid down on the couch.
"He's just wanting attention." Chieko mumbled to herself as she fell asleep on the soft, navy blue couch, "And it seems this Second Kira will do anything to get just that."
