Chapter 7: A Movie Night
Arin flops onto the couch, grabs the remote, and hits the play button. Dan, Suzy and I sit down as well, watching the opening scene of the movie. You know, where all the babies are in Heaven or wherever that place is?
Arin reaches for the popcorn bowl on the table, and I smack his hand away.
He looks at me, confused. "What?"
I smirk, grabbing the popcorn bowl and holding it close to me. "This is my popcorn. You're not welcome to have any of it."
"But I made it!" Arin whines, trying to snatch it away from me.
I hold it even closer to me so that Arin isn't able to take it. "But I set it on the table. Everyone knows that the person who sets a bowl of popcorn on a table is the true owner of said popcorn."
"No! It's the person that makes it!" Arin argues, still attempting to grab the bowl out of my hands.
Arin's right, but I don't want him inhaling all of the popcorn and leaving none for me. And besides, telling lies to Arin is way more fun than you'd think.
"(Y/N)'s right, Arin," Dan says. "She set the bowl down on the table, so she's the owner. She decides whether you can munch or not."
Arin huffs in frustration. "Suzy, back me up on this."
Suzy shrugs. "Hate to say it Arin, but (Y/N)'s right." I guess she loves lying to Arin as much as I do. I see her and I becoming good friends someday.
Arin growls to himself and crosses his arms, a pouty expression on his face. "I hate you all."
"Aw, we love you too, Arin," Dan says, hugging Arin. Aww, the bro fluff.
Arin huffs and shoves Dan away. Whelp. The bro fluff moment has been ruined.
Dan pretends to cry. Without thinking, I put the popcorn down and wrap my arms around Dan, hugging him tightly. "Arin's a sad human being. I'm sorry you have to deal with this every day."
Still pretending to cry, Dan sniffles and hugs me back. "I know. He drives me more crazy than anyone ever has."
Arin scoffs. "What about Dana? You always say how crazy she makes you."
"Dana?" I repeat, pulling apart and looking at Dan quizzically.
"My sister," Dan clarifies. "And yeah, she does get under my skin, but Arin is way worse."
"Why do I not find that hard to believe?" I mutter, earning snickers from Dan and Suzy. Arin, however, is silent due to his saltiness.
I glance at Arin, the movie pretty much forgotten by me at this point. Dan and Suzy are watching it, but Arin's looking at me with a mischievous smirk.
Uh-oh.
I avert my gaze, nervous at what Arin's gonna do. I heard his plan. I know what's in store for me.
But, surprisingly, nothing happens. I don't feel a hand pushing me on top of Dan, I don't hear Arin say some embarrassing words. He's not doing anything.
I look back at Arin, and he's watching the movie. Not paying attention to me at all.
Huh. Maybe I just imagined that smirk then. Maybe this night won't have too much embarrassment after all.
I smile to myself, grab the popcorn bowl once more, and focus my attention on the movie. I've actually seen it before. It's pretty good. I've always been a sucker for cartoon movies. Now, we're at the scene where Tim's playing pretend. I munch on my popcorn while inwardly geeking out about the stellar animation. Yeah, I'm an animation nerd. Sue me.
After a few more bites of popcorn, I decide I'm done with the bowl for now. I set it down and stand up so that I can get a cup of water, since I'm pretty thirsty.
I go into the kitchen, get a glass, and fill it with the water that comes from the dispenser on the fridge. I then come back with the glass in hand and set it down. I'm about to sit down again when...
I feel two hands on my back, shoving me forward.
God damn it, Arin.
This shove is even harder than the last one, so I don't get enough reaction time to try to change directions so that I won't land on the poor man sitting in front of me. Well, it's not like that worked the last time I tried, but the effort was there.
To my dismay, I, like last time, land directly on Dan.
I'm about to squeak an apology and scramble off awkwardly when my and Dan's plan comes to mind.
Don't act flustered.
I force a smile. "Oh, sorry about that," I say, praying that my face isn't red. I shoot Dan a look, reminding him of our plan.
Dan gives me a subtle nod. He smiles back and shrugs. "It's no problem. I'm sorry that Suzy insists on being a terrible human."
"Suzy?" I question, raising my eyebrow. I roll off of Dan, sitting close to him, but not too close. I look at where the pusher would be, and, sure enough, Suzy is standing there, a mischievous smirk on her face. "Wow. I expected this sort of behavior from Arin, but not you, Suzy."
Suzy shrugs. "What can I say? I guess Arin has rubbed off on me."
Arin smirks. "I'm proud of you, babe."
Suzy smiles sweetly at her husband. "Aw, thanks, honey."
I gag, getting comfortable once again.
"Oh, shut up," Arin says, rolling his eyes. "You and Dan will be calling each other those names someday."
I try to keep my composure as I shrug. "Yeah, maybe."
Arin and Suzy exchange quizzical glances. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a satisfied look cross Dan's face. He's probably happy that I'm following through with our plan.
"Um..," Suzy starts, but Arin motions for her to stop talking.
I even scoot a bit closer to Dan, making it very clear to Arin and Suzy that I'm not flustered by him.
Dan looks down at me and smirks. "Good job," he mouths.
"Thanks," I mouth back.
Then, to my surprise, Dan puts an arm around me and pulls me closer to him.
Arin and Suzy are staring at us, mouths wide open. They're amazed at how not flustered we are.
"Arin, I thought you said that (Y/N) gets f—" Suzy begins, but Arin once again motions for her to stop talking, which she does.
I rest my head on Dan's shoulder, getting a bit tired. This has been such a good day. Maybe I should move in with Arin. I look at the clock, and it's already 8:30. Wow. Where has the time gone?
My eyelids begin to feel heavy. I let them close, falling asleep almost immediately.
***
I wake up to silence from the TV screen, implying that the movie has been paused or that it's over.
"I can't believe she fell asleep on you," Arin says. I pretend to sleep, since I wanna know what Arin and Dan are gonna talk about. They'd probably shut up if I woke up, and I'm nosy.
"I know," Dan says. I feel his hand move a stray hair away from my face. "It's kind of adorable, isn't it? That she's comfortable enough with me to fall asleep on me?"
There's a bit of silence on Arin's part. Then, he says, "Yeah. I guess it is."
"It really is," Suzy adds.
Silence coats the room. It's not awkward silence. In fact, Arin, Suzy and Dan don't seem to be bothered by it at all. I guess that just shows how close those three are.
Suzy breaks the silence by yawning. "I'm beat. I'm gonna hit the hay. You're welcome to stay the night if ya want, Dan."
"Sure, I'll stay. Why not?" Dan says, and I can hear the smile in his voice.
"I'm going to bed too," Arin states. "Movies have always made me tired. And Dan, would you mind carrying (Y/N) to the guest room? Wouldn't wanna wake her."
Dan chuckles evilly. "Carrying her will be a piece of cake. My muscles will assist me."
"What muscles?" Suzy asks.
Arin laughs and Dan huffs. "They're there, okay? You just have to really look for them."
I hear the sound of someone standing up. "Okay, I'm outie," Suzy says.
"Same," Arin says, also standing up. There's a bit of silence, so I think that Arin's gone. But I guess I was wrong, because Arin starts to speak again.
"Dan?" he asks.
"Yeah, buddy?" Dan says.
A few seconds of silence. Then, Arin says, "Treat my baby sister well."
"Well, we aren't even dating yet. We've known each other for approximately 8 hours," Dan says. A little bit of silence. "But I definitely will, Arin. You don't need to worry about me treating her poorly."
I resist the urge to smile.
I can tell that Arin's smiling, even though I can't see him. "Good. Goodnight, Dan."
"'Night, Arin," Dan says back. I hear footsteps, indicating that Arin and Suzy have left the room.
Dan sighs. "You're wonderful," Dan mumbles to me, still thinking that I'm actually asleep. "I wouldn't change a thing about you. And I'm damn well gonna get to know you and make you mine if it's the last thing I do."
The urge to smile and blush becomes very strong, but I stifle it.
Dan then proceeds to pick me up, standing up with me. He holds me close to his chest as he walks me to the guest bedroom. I realize that I can open my eyes now and start talking, but I wanna see what else he has to say about me. And I know damn well that he won't when I'm awake. That's a little too forward.
Once we get to the guest room, he sets me down on the bed and tucks me in. He sighs.
I then feel very soft lips kiss me on the forehead. "Goodnight, (Y/N)," Dan whispers.
He then slips out of the guest room, shutting the door behind him.
As soon as he's gone, I sit bold upright, my face as red as a tomato.
What the hell just happened?

I'm sorry this chapter took so long to come out! I was busy with my other Dan Avidan x Reader, "Not Like the Other Fans" (check that out, by the way), and I also didn't feel very motivated to write this chapter. But hey, it's out now! And I hope you enjoyed it!
