Chapter Six
Surprisingly, I had slept well. Nobody had spiked my drink, so I knew that it wasn't anything to do with that. I sat up, looking around the room, seeing Ava sleeping behind me. She was curled up in a cute little ball, hands tucked under her head. Smiling, I stood up, stretching my limbs. My neck cracked from sleeping on such an odd angle. It was early morning, and the sun had barely been up for an hour. My main goal was to find Frank, wherever he had gone to. I couldn't leave Ava alone here, but I didn't want Frank to prey on her. Creeping over to Ava, I knelt down next to her, tapping her cheek. She opened an eye lazily, a sleepy smile breaking out across her face.
"You have lipstick on your cheek." She giggled, reaching out from underneath the covers to wipe it away. I rolled my eyes playfully, admiring how beautiful she was when she slept.
"I have to go and find Frank, he'll be around somewhere. I want you to come with me so I can take you home." I said quietly, she sat up, a confused look on her face.
"I thought you didn't like me being around dear Frank Iero." She said, eyebrow raised, sly smile attempting to appear.
"I know. But, he'll be really hungover, and I'm sure he won't have the mental capacity to molest you or something yet. Get dressed I'll meet you at the front door." I said with a smile, standing, listening to my knees protest.
Closing the door behind me quietly, I kicked a cup against the wall. Grimacing, I wandered down the halls. The floors were covered in trash, the odd hungover teen too. People were staggering around, the air fogged by the smell of beer. Covering my mouth to distract myself from the stench, I figured that I'd find him passed out upstairs. The stairs creaked, my shoes sticking to the floor. A young girl, scantily clad, ran past me with her arms wrapped around her body. She looked slightly distressed, but I didn't have to time to ask her if she was okay. I knew that there was a connection between her, and Frank- I could tell by how disorientated she seemed. Pushing on the wood of a door to my left, it swung opencast bashing against the wall. I stood in the doorway, looking at the chaos inside.
There he was, lying on the bed, a girl lying on top of him. I rolled my eyes, walking over to him, rolling the girl off him. She was passed out cold, but her heart was still beating, her lungs still expanding. I poked him hard in the shoulder, his eyes opening lazily. "What do you want?" He asked sleepily, staring directly into my eyes. I growled, picking him up, throwing him over my shoulder. He was incredibly disorientated, so I knew that he had been mixing his alcohol with some sort of drug.
"You're going home." I said simply, carrying him down the stairs. His head lolled about aimlessly, as he tried to think of where he was. Ava was waiting by the door, her jacket draped over her arms. I smiled, happy that I didn't have to wait, carrying Frank outside.
"Is he alright?" She asked, pulling a face, opening the door to the back of he car. I shrugged- I didn't know for sure, but I was still angry at him. I hated his alcoholic, whore ways. I always had to clean up his messes, make sure that he was okay. Never did he ask me about my feelings, never did he ask me what I wanted to do. "He looks like shit." She chuckled, climbing into the passenger's seat. I threw Frank down onto the back seat, taking his car keys from his pocket. I sighed as I threw myself down into the driver's seat.
"He always looks like shit. He parties almost every night and I have to be there to chaperone him and make sure he doesn't do anything ridiculous." He frowned, throwing the car into reverse. Ava laughed, tucking her legs underneath her body. She looked so small, so innocent, so beautiful. "I'll have to drop you home first, there's no way he'll be able to drive himself home." I said, tapping the steering wheel with my cold, bony hands.
"I'll walk home with you, I don't want you walking home alone." She smiled. I thanked her, not bothering to insist on taking her home. Frank was completely incapacitated, and I didn't have any fears of him doing anything to her.
Frank's house was about twenty minutes from where Ava and I lived. The best part of living in a town in the middle of nowhere was the forests around us. Trees were absolutely everywhere, but I loved it. They were peaceful, tranquil, and I loved the way that thy swayed in the wind.
I pulled up outside his house, turning the car off with a sigh. Ava and I got out in a synchronised manner, slamming the doors shut at the same time. I managed to pick Frank up, who was babbling to himself like a baby. I dragged him up to his front door, not looking forward to the unimpressed look on his mom's face. She would thank me for looking after her son, for making sure that he didn't get into any trouble. This time, she wasn't surprised- but didn't forget to thank me as I placed his car keys into the palm of her hands. I span on my heel, joining Ava at the end of the pathway. She smiled, linking my arm.
