" Arthit " Kongpob stood at the entrance of bathroom in a three piece suit, ready to leave to office. Arthit noticed, these clothes were not something he has ever seen and it looked good on this human. He looked like someone important.

" Are you King of human world, human ? " Arthit mused aloud " Arthit knows humans too have Kings and Queens."

Kongpob chuckled " No, Arthit. I am not a king. "

" Are you head of council of ministers then ? Arthit asked.

" No, I am not. "

Brows furrowed in confusion, Arthit worried his lower lip between his teeth,
" But, you look like someone important human 🤔. Are you a general then ? "

Kongpob shook his head in denial " No, Arthit. I am a businessman. "

Arthit clapped his hand excitedly " Got it. You are head of trader's association. "

Stupid Merman ! " No, Arthit. I am just a businessman. "

" But, you look important 😣. " Arthit reasoned utterly confused. " You are wearing fine clothes. You must be on good position in Royal court."

Shaking his head in defeat, Kongpob walked in, vanishing the distance between them in long strides, he reached to the bathtub and squat down to bring himself to Arthit's eye level   " Arthit..." Kongpob begun in gentlest voice he could muster " I just work in an office. I am president of my company –"

" You are president! 😱 Didn't Arthit tell you , you are important. You wanted to fool Arthit again, human ? 😒😤"

Kongpob placed his hands above Arthit's hand that was gripping the edge of bathtub
" Arthit, trust me, I am not fooling you. There are so many companies. I am just president of my company. There are many other presidents out there. "

"Okay " Arthit nodded, understanding dawning in his eyes " So, you are a president of small country ? " Arthit asked.

🤦" Company ... Not country Arthit. "

Arthit scowled " Arthit knows Presidents are for country, human. Arthit has learned history of human kind. Don't try to fool, Arthit. 😒"

Helpless, Kongpob just sighed and nodded along with Arthit. " Point is ... There are many other president's out there. I am not alone... I'm just a human. Not so important." Kongpob explained.

Arthit looked at him sympathetically, he placed palm of his other hand on Kongpob's, sandwiching Kongpob's palm between his hands he looked straight at Kongpob 
" Don't belittle yourself just because your country is small, Kongpob. You can always expand your Kingdom. You are sharing your pond with Arthit, it means you are kind human. Arthit has decided , he will aid you in the war. We have strength of one lac mer- soldiers. Twenty thousand of them are great white shark, especially trained for acquisition of enemy land . Your enemies stand no chance against them. Arthit guarantees you. " Arthit puffed his chest out, proudly. " What do you say ?"

" No, Arthit ... I am happy in my little country ...I mean company  " Kongpob stuttered " Keep your great white sharks in ocean, okay ?

Arthit frowned " A man much less a President must be ambitious, Kongpob! Think about your subjects... You are happy in your small country. But, are they ? Make the treaty with Arthit, human. Your subjects will thank you... " He held Kongpob under pinning stare. For a second, Kongpob really mistook himself for a King of some kingdom ... He was about to make a treaty with Arthit but he realised his reality in time... He was a mere human - just a president of a company.

And he is already ten minutes late. He doesn't really has time to teach this Merman about human world.

" Arthit... I am late. I will ask my subjects today and if they want a big country , then we will discuss terms of treaty in the evening . Okay ? "

Arthit nodded " Okay, human. Take your time."

" Good. I am going to office. I will be back in evening. Okay ? "

Arthit stared at him curiously " What is office, Kongpob ? "

Here we go again. 🤦Merman and his train of unending questions🙆 !

"Office is the  place where I work, Arthit. "
Kongpob explained, he noticed Arthit's tail always waved lightly and shimmered beautiful royal blue whenever he is curious about anything.

Arthit tapped his forefinger on his chin, thoughtfully " Can't you work at home ? Why do you need to go to this office place, Kongpob ?"

" No, I cannot. I need to go to office for work because stuff I need to work is at office. "

" Can't you bring it at home ? Arthit used to work from palace sometimes. 🤷"

" No, I can't . "

Arthit's face fell, jutting his lower lip out, he bent his head down " Okay, human 😔"

Kongpob noticed the shimmering hues on merman's tail faded to dull grey. He furrowed his brow in confusion  " Is something the matter, Arthit ? "

" Are your parents very strict, Kongpob ? Can't they give you holiday ? I can understand....my Mae used to send me to grandmaster squid's class, even when I didn't like 🙄. Grandmaster squid us very strict and he has eight hands ... His hit really hurts Kongpob ☹️"

" My parent doesn't force me to work. In human world, if we don't work, we can't survive, Arthit. Like you need to hunt to eat, we need to earn money to eat. And job gives us money..."

" So job is like hunting 🤔"

" You can say so." Kongpob smiled seeing colour returning to Merman's beautiful scales. " Now please listen what I have to say. I am going to office, I gave off to all the house help so no one will disturb you. Just got your saftey, If someone comes... Don't ever tell that you are a merman.  "

" But, Arthit doesn't lie human 🤷"

" If Arthit doesn't want to get converted in to sushi, he will have to lie. "

" You will kill Arthit if he doesn't lie 😭😭😭."

Kongpob shook his head vehemently " listen stupid Merman, they will kill you if you don't lie. Being a merman in human world is not normal. "

Rubbing his hands together, Arthit threw Kongpob a helpless look " But, lying is against Arthit's moral codes. "

Kongpob frowned " Since, when did Mermen have moral codes ? " Kongpob chuckled seeing the merman shooting daggers at him with his eyes " I didn't mean to offend you. It's just something new. Now, can I go ? "

Arthit pursed his lips together " okay, human😒"

" Arthit, what is the matter ? "

" Nothing "

" And,why is your tail turning grey, if nothing is the matter ? "

Arthit looked up and into Kongpob's eyes
" Arthit will be lonely, human 😑😔."

" But, I will have to go to work na, Arthit. "

" Arthit understands 😔"

Seeing Arthit so quiet and dejected, Something tugged at Kongpob's heart.
" I will try to be back as early as I can. Is Arthit happy now ? "

Arthit snapped his eyes open " You will 🤗"

" Yes... " Kongpob chuckled "I'll be back early and I'll bring talking bird with me, too. "

Arthit clapped his hands, his eyes glowed with innocent excitement  "Arthit forgot but you remembered about talking bird, human !👏"

" Yes... And it's called Parrot, Arthit. Not a talking bird "

" Parrot " Arthit tasted the name on his lips. Kongpob nodded and smiled in  encouragement.

" Thank you so much, human.  " Arthit smiled sincerely, Kongpob noticed blue flecks shining in his otherwise black-brown pupil. Merman's tail shimmered, bluish hue dominating other colours. He felt an inexplicable happiness blooming in his chest. Seeing this innocent creature's pure child like  smile was just ...

Magnificent !

" Door will be locked okay. And I'm locking bathroom. Are you okay with this ? "

"Okay, Kongpob. " Arthit nodded.

Kongpob smiled " Don't be sad. I will be back as early as I can. I have one important meeting or I would have called in sick. Think about the parrot... I will be back before you know. " He doesn't know why was he explaining himself to this half human creature but it just felt right.

" Okay Kongpob. Best luck. Don't forget to ask your subjects if they want a big country , okay ? "

Kongpob chuckled " okay. "
