Ten years, seven months, three weeks, and four days.
Ten years, seven months, three weeks, and four days.
Those nine words. Those nine simple words hit each and every demigod, tore into their very being. Weak knees and flitting eyes infected the group like the plague, incapacitating the easy targets while wounding those who put up a strong facade. Yes, the teens could ignore those biting words, the reminders of the traitor from the First War, but at the reminder of their total and utter rejection and disrespect of their now deceased dead hero, the demigods blanched.
But one out of the hundreds there stood strong, not caring of the death marked words that were just hissed out like a viper. Annabeth Chase stood strong and uncaring, fire burning in her eyes. "And who do you think you are, going around and accusing us of our wrong doings? We brought you here to help us save the world- not throw petty excuses at us. So, delegate a leader to speak and come with us so we can talk about the actual important matters."
Thor smirked. "Here in our group, we are equals. We lead each other to victory. And we don't leave others behind, no matter who they are." The demigod's felt another jab at that accusation. "But our speakers will be Captain America and Agent EctoCore here, as they are the better wordsmiths."
Annabeth glared but Chiron put a hand out. "Okay. Since the whole Camp will be attending along with a few of the Roman diplomats, we will have to talk in the main pavilion in the middle of the original cabins. Lead the way Michelle." Chiron turned to a blonde daughter of Nemesis. The girl skipped ahead, her short and wavy bob bouncing about her head, framing her face.
The group trudged to the main pavilion which was surrounded by the original twelve cabins, a large table already set up while a dozen demigods dressed in purple t-shirts stood stiffly around the circle. The Avengers made their way to the front of the group, shaking hand with the Romans and inclining their heads to each as they all introduced themselves to either side.
Once the Romans and the Avengers had finished, Annabeth impatiently took center stage, placing down a few printed photos of a huge purple man dressed in gold. Next to that picture was of a gold gauntlet, some gems missing from their places.
"This is Thanos. He has been slowly collecting gems called the Infinity Stones. We don't know how he got each one, but we know that Thanos would have likely left death and destruction in his path. Luckily, we know that Doctor Strange is alive and well- an assassin had been sent after him and the Time Gem but he escaped- just barely- with his life. As for the most recent and accurate lead as to why Thanos has done this was because he wants to court Death by killing many- at least his aspect of Death since Thanatos swore on the River Styx against being the Death that Thanos is after. Deadpool though, is the one that Death is interested and thus has delayed Thanos' pursuits for the time being."
Off in the distance a red mercenary turned to an invisible camera and channeled his inner Office. "Well, I guess someone is talking about me. Hope they mention how awesome I am. It would a shame if the writer downplayed my character." Yells were heard as blades whistled through the air, twining with death-bringing bullets.
"Anyways, Thanos will most likely be attacking soon, targeting Vision, but we need to be pre-"
Giggling interrupted the blonde, Tony finally breaking forcing words out from between each laugh. "We-we have kno-own ab-bout Thanos fo-or yehehehears."
The demigods traded glances, not knowing what to do with that information. Annabeth's hand flexed around the hilt of her dagger, anger showing clear and true. "I wouldn't advise that, honey. I have twenty seven weapons concealed upon my person at the current moment. Three would be sheathed within your body before you could even take out of your dagger, princess." EctoCore said steadily, blank eyes that hid their true fury stared at Annabeth, willing her to move.
Steve then took the stage as he began talking, wanting to alleviate the tension. "We have been in contact with Doctor Strange as well as The Guardians Of The Galaxy, both of which has helped us find a location of Thanos. Again, as we are associates SHIELD- there isn't much about the affairs of the world that we don't know. But it would be best to get to know each other and train in preparation for the upcoming war."
"That settles it." Chiron projected. "You will be allowed to use all of our facilities. We will play Capture the Flag tonight and you are welcome to join either of the teams. Afterwards we will have a campfire and sing along. Seeing as you are such a large group, we will have to split you up and divide you into different cabins. Unless you have something else planned?"
"We have something situated for our quarters." Steve stated calmly. "It would be advised that you all keep training to the best of your abilities."
"I trust that no one will touch our things? Most of us have pretty dangerous things or things essential to us. It would be unfortunate if any of us had to... reacquire... them." Bruce was the one to speak up this time, holding his hands in front of himself, feet firmly planted, body unshifting.
The Hermes kids and the other pickpockets of the camp nodded vigorously, not wanting to be pounded to a pulp by the Avengers.
"So, lets go set up camp. The kids can train with each other and we can keep sharp by practicing amongst ourselves. Lets go." Bruce said, walking more towards the center, towards Hestia's hearth.
Everyone deposited their bags as they set up their large communal tent. Bags were exchanged and set out, and Mrs. O'Leary sat by on watch, her SHIELD jacket being worn quite proudly.
The puppy turned around and pawed at the tent door, right before the conch sounded. "Attention campers and guests- it has come to my knowledge that the Hunters of Artemis are going to arrive soon. Remember to give them the respect they require and deserve. Boys- just steer clear of them please last time they visited a camper almost got castrated. They will also be participating in Capture the Flag to continue their winning streak." Chiron's voice sounded out across the grounds. Several boy's faces paled and hurried to get to their next activity intact.
Suddenly the campers turned to the main pavilion as the hard a short scream. "toNY NO!" The teens soon saw the man running out of the large tent with Agent EctoCore on his shoulder. A silver streak then raced by and now the Agent was in Quicksilver's arms.
"This means war!" Tony yelled, trying to get the Agent back, the campers watching, bewildered as to what the Hades was going on with these grown ass adults.
Suddenly there were webs wound around the speedsters ankles, causing him to fall. Red energy surrounded the Agent, saving her from impact- Scarlet Witch letting her brother eat the dirt. Wanda didn't have ahold of her for long as Thor grabbed her out of the air.
And thus, the Agent was passed from each and every Avenger, Tony, Rhody, and Sam going without their suits. Gleeful shouting sounded throughout the air, accompanied by laughing and Agent EctoCore's uncontrollable giggles. What the campers didn't know was that the Agent was a bit mopey from having to be there and thus her teammates chose to cheer her up.
Ten minutes later the Hunters arrived, surprised to see a group of unknown adults running around, passing around a grown woman. Currently a man with long hair and a metal arm held the woman in his arms as he was chased. Suddenly the man tripped and the silver-garbed girls saw a puppy getting out from underfoot to sit proudly on the fallen woman's stomach. The group laughed claiming that the dog, Dallie they heard, had definitely won.
As the conch sounded, everyone turned towards the Hunters as they were announced. "Campers! Head to dinner. Having an early dinner means that our guests can plan and set up their attack. After the allotted time, no matter if the teams are done or not, Capture the Flag will begin. Its Campers versus the Hunters versus the Avengers! If the Hunters may meet with me quickly for a debriefing on our other guests, that would be wonderful."
The mass of campers soon flooded the dining pavilion, collapsing at their tables, while the Hunters gracefully sat down after Artemis did at her table. Meanwhile, a few minutes later, the Avengers came in laughing, sitting at the empty table that had been set up. The head table had been moved over, the Avenger's table extending off of it. There was a bench on one side so they faced the campers. The said campers and Hunters saw as Agent EctoCore sat up on the edge of the table- the side without the bench- in order to allow her teammates more room in helping her with her wounds.
The teens watched as Hawkeye withdrew gauze pads, antiseptic, and bandages from his bag as Black Widow unwrapped the slightly bloody gauze. The teens saw two stitched up holes as the red head disposed of the dirty bandages. It was odd for them to see the black thread- the teens had only really known wounds to be healed by ambrosia and nectar, the easy way out.
A little Hermes boy spoke up. "What happened?"
"I was shot twice. Its no big deal though. I didn't have to dig them out this time nor did I have to stitch them myself, which is in itself a blessing."
Clint quickly applied the ointment to all four sites, pressing on the gauze pads before wrapping the whole thing up. Thor, surprisingly, picked the Agent up and deposited her gently on the ground so she could go and sit where she pleased. EctoCore pat his shoulder before sitting down next to him.
As the food was laid out, everyone grabbed what they wanted. After everyone sat down from making their sacrifice, the Avengers stood up and made their way to the brazier. They all had heaping plates- all except Thor. He continued to sit, laughter twinkling in his eyes. As each team member scraped their food into the fire- Agent EctoCore getting rid of most of her plate- the food appeared upon Thor's plate.
One by one the group sat down, Sam grabbing his backpack and taking out small packets. There was a murmured "Everyone got water?," before they were distributed due to name. What the kids didn't know- nor did the camp director nor the two gods- was that the packets, provide by SHIELD especially for this mission, provided nutrients and needed energy that may not be provided by their food. Each powder packet was especially engineered for each person, taking into account their bodies, their powers or tech, and how said body is affected by the tech and powers.
The team mixed their packets contents into their water; the team used to getting these packets on missions or if they were sick. The team was also used to Percy using these packets a lot along with those protein bars that she ate periodically. Sam also tossed Percy one of her bars to make sure she got what her body needed even if she couldn't consume a normal amount of food.
And then the team got weirder- the team started grabbing food from others plates, even trading places and leaving their plate for the person they switched with. At one point Hawkeye ended up on Black Widow's lap, the group laughing as Dallie took Clint's seat.
Once everyone in the camp was fed and watered, the campers, Hunters, and Avengers split off to plan. The Avengers sat in a circle, communicating into their telepathic bond so that no one could overhear.
A few minutes later found Percy walking back from the bathrooms, a camper behind her, trying to get her attention. He was getting angrier and angrier, creating a scene. It was Quicksilver who grabbed his wrist, stopping him from touching EctoCore. As much as he would like to see what Percy would do to this kid, he knew, first hand, how scary the older woman could be. With his accent heavy, he spoke loudly so everyone could hear.
"She's deaf dumbass!"
"What?" The boy blinked dumbly as Percy turned around.
"I said she's deaf asshole! She's normally more aware but she was shot a few hours ago. If any one of us don't answer you or acknowledge you, its for a reason. So don't get angry or physical. Because we. Are. Watching. And you don't want us to call Director Fury. Or worse. Coulson." With that Pietro dropped the kids arm, put a hand on the small of her back, and started walking with her, sharing the memory of what happened through the teams link.
The Avengers planned out their attack silently, befuddling anyone who tried to listen in. Soon enough, the teams were allowed into the woods to claim their territory and set up their defenses. For the game, the hunters had a silver flag, the campers had an orange flag, and the Avengers had a red one. Noises were heard as the teams set up- but both groups suddenly noticed that it was silent in the direction the Avengers went. The silence didn't bode well to either of the regular teams.
"Begin."
