Once Derick's car pulled up in front of his house, Louis looked at him and said, "Thank you for tonight," and gave him a small smile.

Derick looked at him and said, "That's what friends are for."

Louis said with his eyes almost vulnerable, "But I haven't been nice."

Derick brought him into a hug and said with his tone soft, "I'm still glad you called," and after he felt Louis breathe softly against him, he pulled away.

Louis gave him one last smile and said, "I'll call you tomorrow," then got out of the car, closed the door, kneeled down to look at him through the window and said, "Goodnight," and turned around, making his way to his house.

After Derick made sure that Louis got into his house safely, he lit a cigarette and started driving off.

When Louis got into his bedroom, he looked around in his room for his phone until he found it laying in the middle of his bed. He picked it up and saw the missed calls that he got from Harry. He bit his bottom lip as he scrolled through the messages.

[Harry.]:

Hey, you called?

Please answer your phone

As he was reading, he sat down at the edge of his bed and started charging his phone. He wore his earbuds and started calling Harry.

After a few seconds, Harry answered and said, "Hello?" as Louis heard some shuffling in the background.

Louis sat up on the bed and said, "Yeah, um, hi," and lightly scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

After a few seconds, Harry asked, "How was your date?" and coughed into his fist.

Louis crossed his legs on the bed and asked, "What date?"

Harry replied, "With the leather jacket guy."

It took Louis a moment before he realized and said, "Oh, today? No, that's my friend."

Harry said, "Oh," and after a pause, he added, "He seems... nice."

Louis replied, "He is, yeah," and felt awkward because of his lack of confidence over the phone for some reason.

Harry bit his bottom lip for a moment, thinking of a way to bring up a topic to talk about and said, "Sorry, I didn't get your call earlier. Did you need anything?"

In all honesty, Louis didn't have a topic to call him about, he just wanted to hear his voice and maybe hang out with him because his loneliness was killing him. He simply answered, "Just some company."

Harry smiled at the answer and said, "I'm here now."

Louis got under his blankets to get warm and laid on his side while looking outside his window. He smiled and said, "Yes you are."

Harry laid back in his own bed and said after a moment of silence, "Can I ask you something?"

Louis replied, "Go ahead."

"Describe yourself in one word."

Louis chuckled and said, "I guess maybe," thought about it for a while, his face turning serious before he answered, "Lonely," they both stayed quiet for a second before he added jokingly, "Don't go all therapist on me."

Harry smiled sadly and said, "We are bound to talk about it in therapy."

Louis bit his bottom lip as he blinked tiredly and looked at the sky through his window. He fought off sleep and replied, "Just not now."

Harry removed his glasses and set them on the nightstand. He said, "Alright," and changed the subject as he added, "How was your day?"

Louis smiled again, tried to fight off a yawn and continued talking to Harry for an hour straight. They talked about random things that might not make sense to anyone else, but it makes sense to them. Their conversation came to an end when Louis yawned for the millionth time that hour and Harry told him, "You really need to go to bed."

Louis closed his eyes with his long eyelashes resting against his beautiful cheekbones and said, "Okay, daddy."

It always takes Harry off-guard whenever Louis says it but pushed his thoughts aside. He said softly through the phone, "Goodnight, love," and looked down at his phone before he hung up. He kept his phone on the nightstand and plugged in his charger. He laid on his back and looked at the ceiling. Thinking of how he's getting in too deep with him and that scares him.

He can't do anything about his feelings.

Harry knows that his patient wants something to happen between them, but Harry's morals can't allow him to do that. He never thought that he would be one of those unprofessional therapists who would get involved with their patients.

He is new to the whole therapist experience. It's not like Louis is his first patient because he's not. He has had a lot of patients recently and he has never felt anything towards them. It was all professional but there's something special about Louis.

He can't put his finger on it, but the young boy makes him feel a certain way. Louis is not all that innocent, there's a side of him that the therapist would love to discover and wants to understand it. Louis is an interesting character that Harry would want to spend his free time learning more about.

All he could think of was Louis looking small in the oversized jumper that he gave him before he fell asleep.

--

The next day, Louis waited outside his therapist's office after school. Liam was sitting next to him while reading a magazine that he picked up from the table. Once the receptionist called out his name, he went into his therapist's office and said, "Hi."

Harry looked up from his notes, smiled warmly and replied, "Hey, sit down."

Louis sat right in front of him, shifted around in his chair and waited for him to talk.

When the therapist saw him settled in, he said, "So, let's continue yesterday's conversation."

Louis thought about it for a moment and said, "I forgot, what was it?"

Harry smiled, looked down at his notes and said, "Lonely was the word you described yourself. Why?"

Louis chuckled and said, "Isn't it obvious?"

The therapist asked more specifically, "Why do you feel lonely?"

The patient thought about it for a moment before he replied, "For starters, I feel like I have no parents."

Harry nodded his head, wrote down in his notes and asked, "What about your friends? Zayn?"

Louis replied, "Zayn is great, he really is but it's too early."

The therapist asked, "Too early for what?"

Louis gestured with his hands and said, "To open up to him."

Harry hummed and asked, "And your friend from yesterday?"

The patient looked down at his hands, took a deep breath and replied, "Derick. I knew him since I was 7, he's been there before my parent's divorce."

Harry paused and looked at his patient's reaction. He said, "Are you still lonely when you're around him?"

Louis shrugged and said, "I mean, sometimes. I can't help it, it's not his fault. My mind just wanders around. He can't always distract me."

The therapist tapped his foot slowly to the ground a couple of times in thought before he stopped. He asked, "What distracted you long enough? A hobby, perhaps?"

Louis smiled, looked at him and said, "Believe it or not, being here is a peaceful distraction," the therapist's eyes went a bit wide at the new revelation and added, "Ironically, I still talk about it, we discuss it but then it's... a distraction. Does it make sense?"

Harry didn't know how to reply, he just looked at him for a while before he said, "It does."

That's when he knew that this boy was going to be the end of him.
