39: THANKSGIVING
(A/N: I'm going to skip from POV to POV, so please pay attention to the bold words! Thanks ~Lunar)

"I want to thank all of you for agreeing to let me and my family spend Thanksgiving with you," I say, raising my glass- with sparkling cider, calm down. Jack discreetly grabs my hand under the table. I rub his hand with my thumb.
"It's a pleasure, Alex. You two boys are always with each other, were practically already family!" Jack's mom smiles.
"Still, it's very kind of you, especially since you've never met me before," Tom says. Mom smiles.
"Your son is very sweet and is always looking out for my boy. You have no idea how much he means to Alex. He's made my boy happier, and that's all that matters to me," she says gently. Jack's mom raises her glass.
"Cheers!" Everyone clinks their glasses together.
My dad was released from the hospital a few days ago, but no one's contacted him. Not even Tom. Sure, he's probably out somewhere, drinking, but right now, I'm here.
Jack lets go of my hand and rests it on my knee.
"Mrs. Barakat, this is really good!" I compliment. She blushes.
"Please, Alex, call me Joyce. Wait- isn't this like the tenth time I've told you that... this week?"
"Sorry, my head just- Yeah," I shrug. Jack laughs under his breath.
"It's fine. Just stop being so formal all the time!" She smiles. Jack's dad chuckles.
"Are we seriously going to act this formal all the time? When you two get married, I'm not going to act all professional all the time!" He jokes. Jack's mom rolls her eyes.
"Wait- who said anything about marriage?" Jack goes red. I put my hand on top of his.
"Jacky, they're messing with you," I whisper.
"Seriously, get married. You two are killing me with this... Cute... Sappy shit," Tom teases.
"Language!" Mom exclaims.
"Oh, it's alright. Jack curses like a pirate. I'm surprised Alex didn't pick up on those habits," Joyce laughs. Everyone stops being tense and starts casual conversations. And when no one's looking, Jack leans over and kisses my cheek.
"You kids must have a drinking problem. You killed this bottle of cider in thirty minutes."
"Dad, we're just thirsty," Jack says without thinking. Everyone stifles a laugh. "What?" He asks, looking around the table. Then it hits him. "OHH! Y'all are nasty!"

"George, you look tired..." My dad mumbles.
"Dad, I go by Ryan now," I whisper.
"Isn't it Thanksgiving? Go have fun with your mother, I'll be fine! The helpers have something special planned for all the... guests. I'll have fun, and so should you, my boy. And... I know about your boyfriend, Ryan. It's okay. Stop worrying about everything, you're still so young," he waves me off. "Go to your mom," he smiles gently.
"Thanks, dad," I pull him into a gentle hug before leaving the room. Brendon stands up and hugs me. Mom smiles and we leave.
"So would you like to have Thanksgiving with us? Dallon's family and Sarah are already coming over, I think we can have another two. Besides, my mom already said yes," Brendon speaks up, tearing away the silent atmosphere. I squeeze his hand.
"If it's not too much work. Ryan and I were just going to order takeout, but if your family thinks-"
"Of course!" Brendon interrupts her. I laugh and bring his hand up to kiss it.
"Ryan, I'll drop you off, I have something to finish up real quick," mom says, glancing at the mirror to look at me.
"Mkay," I mumble.
When we get there, Brendon drags me to his room. "I have something for you!" He smiles cheekily. He hands me a bag.
"Bren, what's the occasion?"
"Nothing. I just love you!" He plants a kiss on my forehead. "Open it!" He ushers me.
"But I didn't get to anything-"
"Just open the goddamn bag!" He whines.
"Fine!" I open the bag and pull out a... Picture frame. I see a picture of the two of us in front of the tree. I put the picture frame down and tackle him into a hug. "I love it," I whisper. He laughs softly and pats my back.
"Come on, we should greet Dallon and Sarah before they-"
"WHAT'S UP FUCKERS!?" Dallon bursts into the room. I stand up and put the bag away. Brendon laughs and punches Dallon in the shoulder.
"Dude, you can't just barge in, I could have been bare-ass naked."
"But Ryan's here too! And there's no way in hell I'm letting you do the do," he wiggles his eyebrows. "Besides, I've seen you ding before!" Dallon teases. Brendon groans in frustration and punches his shoulder again. And I stifle a laugh.
"Sarah's being a wimp and she's still downstairs," Dallon rolls his eyes. He clears his throat and turns. "SARAH ORZECHOWSKI, GET YOUR BUTT OVER HERE BEFORE I CARRY YOU!" Dallon shouts. I hear footsteps and Sarah walks in.
"So we have the neighborhood gang... Plus Ryan. But I mean... He does live in our neighborhood so..." Brendon shrugs.
"I want food. I smell food. Let's get food," Dallon concludes before running downstairs. Sarah, Brendon and I just make eye contact before following him.

I pace back and forth. It's been weeks since we found out about the handcuffs and someone knowing. But in the back of my mind, I know this isn't the end. Something's going to happen.
We decided not to tell everyone since someone could be spreading the news. But would any of the really do that? I noticed how quiet Jenna, Otto, and Josh was. Then Jenna shouted at Sarah. But from what I know, she'd never do that. Otto's always with Awsten. They're like best friends, so would he really do that, knowing that it could hurt Awsten? And then there's Josh. I don't know him well. He's always with Tyler. However, Tyler seemed very interested in our powers. He didn't say much, but I could tell. It could be both of them?
I shake my head. No, it can't. The group has known Tyler for a while, and Josh just joined, but I know he wouldn't hurt Tyler like that. He's just shy. Dallon and Brendon are close friends with Sarah. Ryan's pretty good friends with Kellin. It obviously can't be Kellin, Vic, Sarah or I. Jack and Alex, although confused at first, are supportive. When we told them, Alex told Kellin he'd do anything to help, if he could. So he wouldn't do that. Since he and Kellin are really close, Jack wouldn't do it because he would never hurt Alex. So that leaves me with no one. So who could have done this? Who knows? Someone could have seen us, but who?
Then a terrifying thought pops in my head.
What if this is payback?

"Hey, can we refrain from speaking Spanish? I want Kellin to feel as comfortable as possible. I know he's been living here for a while, but he stills feels like an alien here, and this is his first Thanksgiving without his parents," I tell my family while Kellin is showering.
"Of course, Vic. We know how difficult this must be for him," my dad nods. Mike just shrugs, and my mom smiles.
"You're a very good boyfriend. I've raised you well," mom teases, gently shoving my shoulder with hers.
"I really love him, I want to treat him well," I smile to the floor.
"Ew, I don't want to listen to your sappy boyfriend stuff," Mikey scrunches up his nose and walks upstairs.
"Vic, did you ask Kellin?" Mom asks. Dad raises his eyebrows. "If you chickened out, I will throw a chicken at you," she narrows her eyes.
"I asked him," I say softly.
"And...?" Dad ushers me to continue.
"He-" I fake a sad voice. "Well-"
"Aww, Vic if he-"
"He said yes!" I burst into a grin. Both of them laugh and hug me.
"Now, you are not to get married until you can drink," my dad points a finger at me. "And you better treat him well. He might not have a great father but don't even doubt that I won't kick your skinny ass if you hurt that nice boy."
"I know, Papi, I would never hurt him as long as I have bones in my body... But he said yes-" I laugh. "Oh god, I can't believe he said yes!" I murmur under my breath.
"Of course he said yes. You two love each other more than Mike likes snapbacks and gardening."
"I just love Kellin so much, and I can't wait until we graduate and have a real life together, I mean- sure, we pretty much already live together and such, but I just- I see us having a future together. But no one tell Kellin. I want to wait-"
"No one tell me what?" I hear Kellin's soft voice ask. He walks out and smiles gently. I stare at his emerald-hazel eyes as he stands next to me, holding my hand.
"Nothing," I murmur and squeeze his hand softly. His eyes flicker down at mine. My parents exchange a glance before laughing and walking upstairs. I turn and face him, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him. "Are you ready for a Fuentes family style Thanksgiving?"
"Sure," he shrugs. "I can't wait, baby," he leans down and whispers in my ear, sending a shudder through me. I take his hand and lead him to the couch. I lift my hand and cradle his cheek.
"I love you," I whisper softly. He smiles and leans against my hand. He lifts his and covers mine. He closes his eyes.
"I love you too, Vic," he whispers softly.
"What's on your mind?" I ask gently, watching his facial features. I frown slightly when I realize he's biting his lip. "What's scaring you?"
"My mom called me- begging me to come back or else something bad would happen. She didn't say what but- what if someone hurts you?" He says weakly. "I can't lose you."
"You're not going to lose me," I reply softly. "And nothing's going to happen to us. No matter who gets in the way, I'll always find a way back to you." He nods slowly and pulls me close to his body. He moves and lays his head in my lap. I mindlessly run my fingers through his hair as he looks up at me.

After a while, everyone's eating like a family. Kellin compliments my mom a few times, being the polite ass he is. Everyone has casual conversations until the doorbell rings.
"Are you expecting anyone?" I ask. Everyone shakes their heads.
"I'll get it," my dad says, standing up, he walks to the door. "What are you doing here?" he snaps. Kellin turns and gasps. I look over and my eyes widen at the sight. His parents. I grip his hand.
"I'm here for my son. I know he's here," I hear Kellin's dad say angrily. Kellin gulps and stands up. Mike and mom exchange a glance before standing in front of us.
"You kicked him out. You don't get to do that to him. He's just a kid," my dad says in a voice I've only heard once. The time he found out my cousin punched Mike.
"He's my son. Not your's," Kellin's dad growls.
Next to me, I feel him shaking. I put my arm around him, holding him close to me.
"Kellin, I see you, get over here, young man," his dad's voice booms.
"Get out before I call the cops."
"You give me my son back or I tell the cops you kidnapped him," he glares at my dad.
"Stop- I'll go, just stop arguing," Kellin interrupts softly.
"Kellin-"
"I'm sorry Vic, but I can't let them hurt you guys. Thank you for everything," he whispers. He takes a step forward, but I grab his wrist and spin him around. I kiss him on the lips.
"I'll find you. I will never stop looking. I love you," I whisper. He nods. I stare at his beautiful eyes with tears in them. He walks to his parents. His dad grabs him roughly by the wrist, making Kellin yelp in pain, but his dad doesn't let go, he just drags him off.
I hold back my tears until my family turns to me. I break down and my mom pulls me into a hug.
"It's going to be okay," she whispers, patting my back.
A thought sinks in my mind, they could take him away from me.
