30: Restart

A. Biersack

"Awsten?" I turn around and see a single note on the table. I stand up and stare at it.

Sorry, I had to go. But when you wake up, please call me. I'm worried about you. ~A.K.

I flip the note over at stare at the phone number. I sigh and sit back down. It wasn't just a dream. He was actually here. I pull out my phone and type in his number. I dial him and wait.

"Hello?"

"I-" I stop. I can't just talk to him over the phone. "Awsten?"

"Oh- Thank god. Andy, are you okay? You scared the shit out of me, you ass! I thought you were about to die! And if you-" He stops abruptly. "You said you needed to tell me something?"

"I- Yes. But in person. I'm not taking any chances. Should I go to you-"

"No, I'm coming. Give me ten minutes, and don't do anything stupid."

He hangs up and I run my hand through my hair. Is Awsten giving me a chance to explain? I shake my head and throw on some presentable clothes. I walk to the bathroom and splash water on my face. The cool feeling I get from the cold water wakes me up even more. Just then, the doorbell rings. I walk down and swing the door open, staring at Awsten for a second. Why does he always find a way to make my heart DIE? "C-Come in," I clear my throat, cursing myself for that stutter.

I walk upstairs, praying he follows me, and he does. I lead him to my room and close the door behind us. "Awsten... I really wish I wasn't under these circumstances- but here we are. Please, don't interrupt me, I- it's going to be a lot to take in- I'll try my best to answer any questions- But even I don't know everything yet," I gulp. He nods hesitantly, curiosity plastered on his face like a mask. I sit down, and he sits across from me, waiting.

I take a deep breath, and let my thoughts gather. "When I was born, there was this horrible storm, with lightning, thunder, everything. No one knows how this happened, but microscopic bolts of lightning were tied into my blood- my veins, and heart. It made it so that I can do this..." I hold out my hand and close my eyes, feeling the electricity course through my body. I hear him gasp and I open my eyes, staring at the lightning, dancing in my fingers.

"But then, because of that- I don't know why, but I have other... abilities? I can turn invisible for short amounts of times, I can run quicker, jump higher, I have extra strength, and I can't be electrocuted unless it's by someone else who has the same abilities as me," I pause, staring at him worriedly. "And the reason I left you like that- well... A long time ago, there was a man who could do what I do. And he told people, became a god. But the government didn't like that, so they tortured and killed everyone he cared about for information that no one knew. They forced him into a lab where they tested him. And then one day, he just- he died. They put out the news and said it was suicide," I feel tears threaten to fall from my eyes.

"So- all those years ago... I found out the government heard about someone with abilities. And that they were coming here to check around. I couldn't let them get to you. I got my parents to help me move- but I still had to make sure they never got to you- so I- I had to. I had to choice but to- but to leave you- And I know it's no excuse for breaking your heart, but I couldn't let them torture you. I couldn't let them kill you," finally, those tears fall. I cover my face with my hands, wishing I could just disappear. "I loved you- but- that meant I had to let you go-" I mumble, taking in shaky breaths, desperate to calm down.

Then he puts his arms around me. I look up and realize he's hugging me. He buries his face in my shoulder. Hesitantly, I lift my arms and pull him closer.

"Andy?" He pulls away slowly and stares me in the eye. "I- I don't understand everything yet, but- I- this might be stupid but- do you think we could start over?" He breaks eye contact and looks down at the ground, trying to figure everything out.

"If you ever give me the chance, I'll take it," I answer softly, lifting his chin to meet his eyes.

"Hi, I'm Awsten Knight," he says, lifting his hand.

I smile softly, staring at his eyes. "Nice to meet you, Awsten, I'm Andy Biersack," I shake his hand. He smiles back at me.

"I know we're going to have to regain trust, and it might take some time, but- I really want to get to know you again, Andy."

"I'd love that," I reply. He pulls me into a hug again, a wave of emotion washes over me, and I hug him back. I'm going to screw this up. I sigh a move the thought out of my mind.

Not this time.

I made this a while ago while writing Holding Hands, and realized how much it related to Therapy.
