I frantically searched my terribly messy closet for something suitable for Megan Hermadez's stupid party (which I didn't even want to go to). Pulling my hair in frustration, I called Luke. Because who else would know how you're supposed to dress for a party? And maybe because I didn't really have anyone else to ask but my mom, who wasn't even home.
"Why are you calling me? Bailing again? You know, you have to stay away from your laptop, Cal. You know what they say!"
I sighed at Luke's nagging tone. "No, I don't actually know what they say, why don't you enlighten me?"
"An apple a day keeps the doctor away?"
"Why am I even friends with you, you fucking nip nop. I called you because I need to know what to wear to this party."
Luke was no help, of course. He never really was when it came to short-notice things. "I don't know, Calum! Wear, like, skinny jeans and a shirt!"
I sighed and rolled my eyes, "Yeah no shit, Luke. You're no help. I'll see you later, loser." I was never one for goodbyes, really.

It was loud, to say the very least. The obnoxious sound of bass flooding my ears was as displeasing as it was distracting. I wondered why the actual fuck I let Luke convince me to come to the party when I could be at home, drinking tea and helping people online (which was probably 63572 times more appealing in my opinion). Luke tugged my arm and led me into the large house, being immediately greeted by an almost overpowering smell of sweat and weed. By the time I realized Luke's arm was no longer around my own, the lanky blonde was nowhere to be seen.
Perfect, I thought, awkwardly looking around to find somewhere that I could get a drink, the overwhelming need to be intoxicated clouding my mind. Maybe Luke was right, and a little release would be good for me.
I didn't think to check my Twitter DMs, and I didn't certainly think at all about a particular boy whom I presumed to be dead.
