Bloodline (Pt 1)
A/N: I got this cursed prompt so now you all have to read this cursed fic. 😂
If you want to write your own fic with this prompt, go for it.
Text of prompt: Nya is a vampire, and Jay is a willing 'victim' for her. Nya is incredibly concerned about the welfare of Jay, and always fussed over him after a feeding, making sure he is still safe and comfortable. They often cuddle and fall asleep together after the feeding.
This is kind of an AU, kind of canon divergent. A little fragmented as I give you glimpses into this world. Part 1 of 2.
I blame mada3fangirl and the jaya discord for this. 😭
oOo
The worst part was always the few moments of nausea that accompanied the lightheadedness. He pulled in slow, ragged breaths, exhausted from the battle, now drained from her feed, laying boneless in her arms. He hated feeling weak, hated that it had to be this way, hated that brief moment of regret when she pulled her hot mouth away from his neck.
"You took more than necessary," he huffed, forcing the words out through his labored breathing.
"Mmmm," she purred, the vibrations from her chest sending a ricochet of shivers down his spine. "You took out too many of my men. Consider this revenge." She stroked his hair as she lazily swept her tongue over the wound, numbing it more with her saliva.
"Revenge? That's rich. I'm doing this as a favor."
"Favor?"
"Yeah."
"I seem to recall striking a deal. In exchange for me getting the blood of an Elemental Master of Creation, I don't go on a feeding rampage throughout Ninjago."
"That sounds like extortion."
"In a way it is."
"So I'm the dope who got the raw end of the deal."
"Yes, but you are my dope."
"That's comforting," he snarked, focusing on her voice and not the wave of nausea that fluttered through his stomach. It would pass. It always did, like the many times before, too many to count. His hand was shaking as he fumbled through one of his gear pouches, looking for an energy bar.
"Let me help," Nya murmured into his ear as she wrapped her arms around his torso, grabbing the snack and unwrapping it for him.
"Thanks," he said, taking a bite and relaxing against her. "Am I crushing you?"
"No," she hummed into his ear, pulling his back tighter into her chest as she rubbed gentle circles on his stomach. "I have you right where I want you."
"Good, because I'm about ready to pass out." He could feel her smiling into his neck. He wanted to turn and face her, but sleep was winning the battle as he struggled to keep his eyes open. He was vaguely aware of the light kisses she peppered down his spine as she nuzzled into him.
"Rest well, my Ninja."
"Wake me . . . if you need me," he uttered as he fell into a dreamless sleep.
oOo
The first time was a mistake.
The battle was going smoothly, the ninja had the upper hand and were about to claim victory over the Fangpyre and their human lackeys. Then she dropped down out of nowhere and tore through them like a hot knife through butter. It threw them off their game and Jay was frantically beating back a dozen henchmen with only his nunchucks, lightning and wits. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a red blur and stupidly moved to block with his unarmored side. She parried with her hands then pulled his forearm to her mouth and bit down, hard.
Jay had his fist pulled back, ready to punch her off, but hesitated. Her eyes were laser focused on his, hungry and bright, boring into his soul and Jay suddenly felt his heart thundering in his chest. After two seconds of stunned silence, he regained his senses and shocked her off of him.
"Your blood is tasty," she gleamed, slowly swiping her tongue across her upper lip, delicately working around the long fangs, wiping them clean. "And tingly."
"Wha—,"
"Nya?" said a voice from behind him, hopeful but uncertain, underscored with dread. "Is that really you?"
"Not anymore," she hummed.
"What— what did they do to you?"
"Made be better, stronger, faster. Immortal."
Then she was gone as swiftly as she had arrived, causing disarray and panic with her entrance and exit. Jay vaguely registered Kai's strangled cries of what did they do to her, feeling a pang of guilt for not sympathizing with Kai's lament over his sister because the only thought in his mind was what did she do to me?
The puncture wounds took over a week to heal. A constant reminder of her smoldering brown eyes, hypnotizing red lips, and the way she sized him up after stealing a bite of him. It was if she had cast a spell on him, he wouldn't be surprised if that were true, and it was driving him mad.
oOo
The second time was a stupid error.
The battle was a breeze and he got cocky. In retrospect, it was so obvious it was a trap. He found himself in a dark alley with his back to the wall, using his lightning like a boss, taking out twenty goons in one blow. He chuckled at his own witty banter as he performed a weapons check before leaving to meet with the others.
"It's true, you are the funny one," was all he heard from behind before feeling a sharp pain on his neck. He froze, eyes growing wide, his own breath coming to a halt as her arms wrapped around his biceps and chest, pulling him in tight. He was helpless, in a trance, unable to summon his element to shock her off of him.
She hummed, enjoying her feed, the sound reverberating through his bones, setting fire to his blood. Time stood still as his life force was simultaneously drained and rekindled by her burning touch. His nerve endings lit up like a runway as his elemental power sputtered and faltered, trying to remember how to breathe. She hummed again, and somehow he knew that meant she was done, satiated from his power, finally pushing him away.
He stumbled forward, woozy, grabbing at the throbbing pain on his neck.
"I hit the jackpot," she cooed and Jay tried not to faint. He whipped around, staggering back and slumped against the wall, gripping his neck while fumbling for a sharp weapon, finally pulling a blade on her.
"Stay back," he wheezed, panicked at how weak he sounded. Just how much blood did she take?
"Don't worry lightning boy, I got all that I needed." She took a step forward and he tensed in his stance.
"What— what did you mean by jackpot?" His breaths were still ragged and a wave of nausea washed over him.
"Oh," she tilted her head to the side, eyes sliding over him with hidden consideration, "Elemental Master's have coveted blood." She took another step forward and he scrambled to spark up lightning in his hand. "Elemental Master's of Creation have even better blood." She took another step forward and he tried not to hurl from the lightheaded feeling that was consuming him. "And, you're cute."
She took one last step closer and his cheeks burned at her words. He moved the knife to her throat as her hot breath mingled with his. "Stay back," he uttered, his threat falling flat in his weakened state.
She chuckled, fingertip pushing into the tip of the blade, moving it to the side as she said, "That won't hurt me."
"Not trying to hurt you, I have a different goal."
"That won't kill me either. You need to brush up on your vampire knowledge, Sparky."
Moonlight reflected off her fangs, adding brilliance to her heart shaped face, milky skin and oh so impossibly red lips. Her hand cupped his face as her thumb rubbed circles on his cheek and he hated how he leaned into her touch.
"You think I'm cute?" he asked, wondering why his brain thought that was suddenly important.
"Mmmm, and hot." She eyed his lips and he felt his heart jump into his throat. "Just the right combination of cute and hot."
Nya inched forward more, her lips brushing gently against his, and Jay felt electricity humming in his bones. She kissed him, slowly, timidly, coaxing him to deepen the kiss and explore her mouth. He did, and she relished in the feeling of his heat, the low grade shock that accompanied his sweeping tongue, and the way he transferred his weight from the wall to her.
She gripped him tighter, wanting to devour him all over again but forced the burning hunger away. Nya finally pushed him back and he sunk into the wall, chest heaving, eyes unfocused and blown, completely destroyed.
"Ninjago owes you their gratitude, Blue Ninja," she purred, brushing a finger over her lips, "with the meal you just gave me, I won't need to feed for a month."
"I didn't give, you stole," he huffed.
"Are you sure about that?" she questioned, and in a blink she was gone. Her words haunted him in his dreams.
oOo
The third time, he let her.
He pulled her into the lightning jet, away from the din of battle, falling into the pilot's chair with her on top, straddling him, crashing her lips into his. The thought of abandoning his fellow ninja on the battlefield was a very distant one as she scrambled for purchase on his lap, fangs lightly brushing across his neck as she kissed her way down. She took her time, exploring his freckle dusted skin with her tongue, languishing in the tingling surge of his elemental power, jumping back when the shocks got too intense.
She rested her forehead against his, struggling to regain her breath. "I'm hungry," she whined, eyeing his neck.
"A deal," he managed to breathe out.
"Eh?"
"I'll make you a deal."
She pulled back, considering him. "I'll listen."
"Feed on only me."
She tilted her head, sizing him up in the pale moonlight shining through the windows of the cockpit. "Why?"
"Because you said so yourself, my blood is top shelf. Keeps you satisfied for a month," he smiled and she narrowed her eyes at him. "Plus, you like me."
She scoffed and his smile grew brighter, noting that she didn't deny it. Her eyes darted to his neck then back to his, her lips parting slightly, showing him her fangs.
"Fine," she conceded, and moved forward to bite, but he stopped her.
"Pinky promise," he held up his hand, fist clenched and pinky finger sticking out. She rolled her eyes but complied, wrapping her pinky around the black leather of his glove, gripping tight. Their interlocked hands moved up and down with two shakes then he let go, one hand resting on the soft curve of her hips and the other tracing down her spine.
"Only you," she whispered.
"Only me," he agreed.
She moved forward, bracing her hands on his shoulders as she found his neck again, teasing it with light kisses. His elemental power danced under his skin, responding to every minute flick of her tongue, choreographed to her whim. Every tingling surge, every prickling shock helped dull the ache in the pit of her stomach, the never ending hunger that plagued her being.
She had found a new hope, an endless source of power that could quench her forever thirst, maybe one day undo the mess that she had become. She sighed in contentment as she found a promising vein, anticipation shivering down her spine, the hunger inside her quivering.
"I'm going to bite you now," she murmured, kissing his neck once more.
He gripped her hips tighter in response. "Do your worst."
She bit down, slowly, smiling at the sound of his breath hitching and the stifled moan that escaped his lips. She eased up and began her feed, drinking slow. His blood was divine, rich and coppery, laced with endorphins, adrenaline, and raw, unadulterated power.
The only thing Jay could hear was the rushing sound of his breaths echoing in his ears. The rest of the world faded to nothingness as he was hyper focused on each inhale and exhale. He was one hundred percent at her mercy as he felt his life force being extinguished then ignited, over and over again.
She pulled away, eyes hooded and cheeks flushed, and he imagined he looked the same. His body sagged and his hands fell from her waist as fatigue rolled over him. A wave of nausea threatened to turn his stomach inside out as he looked up at her, seeing that she looked renewed, refreshed, untold strength coursing through her veins.
"Call off your men," he grunted, finally finding his voice.
"What?"
"You heard me, call off your men."
She leaned forward again, nuzzling into his neck as her mouth soothed the puncture wound. "You are in no position to order me around."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Keep threatening me and I will drain you dry."
"I took your advice," he chuckled and she felt the vibrations hum on his skin, "and brushed up on my vampire knowledge. This cockpit has been retrofitted with enough UV light to vaporize you in less than two seconds."
Her head darted up, dread sinking into the pit of her stomach as she saw strips of LED lights lining the metal bars of the windows, something she failed to notice before entering. She cast her glance back down at him, a smug smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "You are a fast learner, Ninja," she mused.
He returned her smile. "You got the drop on me twice in a row. I might be dumb but I'm not stupid."
She brushed her thumb over his cheek. "Fine, I'll call off my men."
His hand came up to grab hers, and she noticed the slight tremble in his movements, realizing that she had made him more anemic than he was letting on. One phone call later she was back to caressing the injury she caused, resisting the urge to take more of his power. She noticed his breathing slowing down as his eyes struggled to stay open.
"Rest," she reassured him, "I'll stay until just before the sunrise."
"So— are we like, dating now?" he ventured, the timbre of his voice pitched low.
"Mmmm," she murmured into his neck, "I suppose," then pulled back to look him in the eyes. "This is not a healthy relationship."
His faint smile made her stomach flip a little. "No, it's not."
oOo
Then there was the time she almost killed him.
"You're late," she seethed, circling him in the forest like a predator stalking prey. Leaves crunched under foot as she stepped lightly, resisting the urge to devour him whole. "A week late! You are lucky I held back, I was ready to tear through half the men in Ninjago City."
He pitched his eyebrow upward. "You're in a mood."
Her nostrils flared and she charged at him. He deflected her blow with lightning and took on a fighting stance. "A mission went sideways. I've barely had any sleep or food in the last 60 hours."
"You're in a mood too."
Jay pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. "Look, you aren't the only headache in Ninjago I have to deal with."
If he had seen the blow coming he would have blocked, but she landed a direct hit that sent him flying into a nearby tree trunk. His lungs burned as the wind was knocked out of him. He tried to scramble to his feet but his body would not obey. She was on him immediately, slamming his head back into the tree and clawing at the collar of his gi.
"You're sweaty, dirty, and you stink," she complained, finally finding her favorite vein.
Air found its way back into his lungs as he chuckled dully. "Comes with the territory of being a highly trained and combat tested assassin."
She couldn't wait any longer, the hunger within her was threatening to overtake her mind. No time to flirt, no time to numb the skin. She vaguely registered that he tasted like salty sweat and five days of a failed mission as she bit down, hard. He made no attempt to stifle the sharp intake of his breath, letting her know that it hurt. Good. Served him right for making her wait.
Her lust for his power was insatiable, she wanted more, more, more. His hands gripped tight into her hips and she was distantly aware that his shocks were stronger than normal, but the hunger inside demanded to be fed. It wasn't until he slumped forward, lifeless, that she realized she drank too much.
"Jay?" She slapped his face, trying to ruse him. "No, no, no, no, no!" Ice filled her insides as a feeling of panic quelled her hunger.
After laying him on the forest floor, she placed her ear to his heart, hearing an erratic, racing beat, feeling his chest rise and fall in a shallow rhythm. His body was going into shock and she would lose him if she didn't act fast.
The moon dipped low on the horizon, turning an angry orange as if mocking her that nighttime was expiring soon. Daybreak was less than an hour away. Her head was spinning, going down a laundry list of options, none of them sounding like any fun.
Dropping him off at the hospital - too many chances to get caught, too many questions to answer - and she didn't want his blood tainted by a transfusion.
Taking him back to the lair - too many prying eyes and she didn't feel like sharing.
Putting him in the lightning jet and having autopilot take him home - again too many questions and the possibility of a blood transfusion.
That left one option left, something she was reluctant to do, but she supposed it was finally time.
