Border is a movie which I watched on tv, being played on Colors TV. The onlypart I remember from the movie pretty well is the final battle of Longewala is taking place and Sunny Paaji jumping across tanks and throwing grenades in them.

What prompted me to watch Border 2 is a reel on instagram about Ahan, Varun and Diljit's character facing punishment and continued punishment in the form of race. Bina baat ke Ahan aka Rawat phas jata tha dono ke beech mein. I watched the entire movie and I cried at the end as it was sad ending and I had connected with the three friends journey especially Ahan's Character Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat.

Now coming to the main part, All the three men potrayed their characters very well. But I have a different analysis of it. 

1) Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya PVC- is from the army wing which represents land. Initially when he was introduced in the movie, he stayed aloof, looking almost arrogant, just as land is when it has not been ploughed.

2) Diljit Dosanjh as Fg Offr Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon PVC- is from the air force wing which represents air. His characteristics is that of air when is playful, happy-go-lucky but becomes tornado when it is challenged.

3) Ahan Shetty as Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat- is from the navy wing which represents water. His characteristics is of water which is calm and mature but can become tsunami waves when it becomes protective.

When these three men meet, Sekhon and Rawat are already friends, just like air and water is. But Sekhon gets upset when Dahiya is not ready to shake hands with him or greet him. He feels insulted by Dahiya, so he challenges him in boxing ring. Rawat even warns him not to do it but does air listen to water when it is challenged by land's arrogance. They start the fight in the boxing ring with Rawat watching helplessly on sidelines until the headmaster Fateh Singh arrives on the scene. Then Rawat goes to separate both them and stop them but gets punched in return from Dahiya. and in the end all three are punished.

Then, the dynamics between the three changes when Sekhon makes the punishment a race. Whoever loses will salute the other infront of the entire college as the bet is placed by Dahiya. And so it is. First Sekhon starts running as he wants to be first just like air always wants to run freely until it faces mountain. then Rawat starts running after Dahiya asks him, as water makes its own path when land asks it to. But in the end, Dahiya wins the race as he has never lost a race. Which shows how strong land can be. 

 But dynamics again changes when Fateh Singh gives the speech about importance of friendship. Sekhon gives his sisters rakhi which was sent  to him. and finally the hard exterior is broken and they become best of the friends with Rawat serving as the calm base just like water does when it merges with land and air. I would say the actual  gum  of the friendship was Rawat as he could talk with both Sekhon and Dahiya without getting either one mad at him.
