Ellie pressed the start button on the microwave and then walked over the fridge, grabbing an applesauce pouch to give to the little hands that were wrapped around her neck.

"Here you go Gray." She said, handing him the opened pouch. He smiled and he immediately put the opening in his mouth.

The microwave started to beep as Ellie turned back around and opened it, pulling out the small plate with chicken nuggets on it. She started to blow on them, seeing the steam rise.

"Hot." A little voice said.

"Yes baby, hot." His mother smiled at his recognition of the steam coming off of his dinner.

Placing the plate down to let the food cool a little more, she put the little boy down as well who immediately took off towards the living room. She smiled and shook her head a little bit, loving how wild he was. Ellie grabbed a glass of water and chugged it, trying to remember when she had even drank water today.

Work was very busy lately as her team was working on a project that needed all her attention. Most of her coworkers were staying late to finish it, but Grayson's babysitter could only watch him for so long. Ellie had brought her computer home so she could work after she put Grayson to bed.

She opened the fridge once more and took out some strawberries, cutting them up and placing them on the plate with the now cooled off nuggets.

"Gray time to eat." She called as she set the plate down at a small table near the wall. The sound of small feet grew louder and she saw the small boy coming running from the living room straight to his chair. He climbed onto the chair and grabbed a handful of strawberries, shoving them into his face. Ellie laughed as she watched him eat, a smile on both their faces.

The past 2 years had been tough for her. When Ellie found out she was pregnant, she was nervous but ecstatic to start this new journey with her boyfriend. He waited on her hand and foot throughout the pregnancy, but when the time got closer for her to have her son, he bailed. He claimed he wasn't ready for a child and that Ellie would be much better on her own. She vowed that she would give Gray all the love she had and more so that he would never feel like he was missing something. His father would send some money at Christmas and on the past two birthdays he had, but never made an effort to see him. To be honest, Ellie didn't even know what she would do if her ex ever showed up at her door.

Feeling the buzz in her pocket, she pulled out her phone and smiled even wider when she saw a certain name pop up.

Tae: What's on the menu for tonight?

At the persistence of her coworker and friend, Ellie had signed up for a dating site where she found Taehyung. He was handsome, charming, and funny...what wasn't there to like? In her profile, she made it a point to not hide the fact that she was a single mom of a 2 year old. Most guys would run for the hills once they found out a woman they were seeing had a kid so Ellie figured she would stay one step ahead.

When Taehyung messaged her, to say she was surprised was an understatement. He looked so perfect and she constantly wondered why he chose to talk to her. It had been a week since he first messaged her and every night he always asked what was for dinner.

Ellie: Chicken nuggets and strawberries. Gourmet right?

Tae: Sounds like a perfect dinner to me!

Tae: Is that what you are having as well?

Ellie couldn't stop smiling at how he always asked how both her and Grayson were doing.

Ellie: I have some leftover pasta from last night that needs to be eaten. Wbu?

Tae: 

Ellie: OMG that looks so good!!

Tae: It is! A friend wanted to go out for dinner and how could I say no to a steakhouse?

Ellie laughed at his message as she pulled out the leftover pasta and heated it up in the microwave.

"Mama?"

Ellie turned towards her son who had a mouth full of food and just smiled at her.

"Hi Gray." She smiled back and messaged Taehyung back.

Ellie: You're making me jealous now ;)

Tae: I would love to bring you here if that's ok with you. :D

Ellie froze as she stared at her phone. It's finally happening...she was being asked out on a date. Wait, was this a date or just as friends? He phone buzzed again as she looked down.

Tae: Like on a date?

Oh my it was a date! Ellie squealed in excitement and even jumped up a little. It had been so long since she had been on a date. She looked over at the small table and watched as Grayson got down and picked up his plate, carrying it over to her. She took it and placed it in the sink.

"Time to wash your hands now." Ellie said as she picked him up and helped wash his hands and face. She quickly cleaned up his small table and let him run around the living room, playing with his many toys that were strewn about.

Ellie: Sounds great! When?

Ellie took out the pasta from the microwave and grabbed a fork, proceeding to the couch as she ate her pasta and watched little Gray try to figure out a small puzzle.

Tae: Would this Friday be too soon?

She looked at his message and tried to think if she was free this Friday. The project was going to be done Friday morning so a relaxing Friday would be nice. The only problem was she would need to find a babysitter.

Ellie: That should be fine. I just need to find a babysitter. I'll ask a couple people tomorrow and let you know if that's ok?

Tae: of course! If Friday doesn't work, we could always try a different day.

Taehyung was always so understanding about everything that it warmed her heart. He never asked details about Grayson's dad or Ellie's past relationship with him and Taehyung knew that Grayson always came first. It was only a week and already this guy seemed to care more about her son than his own father did.

Ellie's heart sank a little at the thought, but her mood was quickly lifted when Grayson came over to her.

"Mama, up." He tried to pull himself up, but the couch was still too high for him so Ellie picked him up and placed him in her lap.

"Let's watch some TV before bed ok?" Ellie whispered in his ear and then placed a kiss on the side of his head.

"Animals?" He turned back and asked her and she giggled.

"Yes, let's watch some animals." Ellie held tight to her little boy enjoying the relaxing time together.

A/N: Yup...I made another story before finishing any of my other ones, but this is just a short story that I need to get out of my head. It's not dark like my other ones...just super fluffy. Hope you enjoy :)
