25 The mother and the son
Part 25 the mother and the son
Sagar could not understand anything, seeing his mother drinking the drinks that Major drank. What did that mean? Why is his mother drinking the drink? He felt dizzy... his body sweated badly.
Sagar had a huge respect for his mother. She was an uncompromising woman. Being a single mother, she never bent down for anything and stood with self-respect. She LOVED his father very much.
Sagar knew Khushi well. She didn't get a chance to live with the person she loved, she didn't think of second marriage even after getting many proposals. Many men wished to marry her. She had many good qualities in her to get attractive. Yet, she was stubborn. She never had given a chance to those men who wanted to marry her. Such a supreme personality she was. But what she just did a few minutes ago was something totally opposite to Khushi's nature. Why did she drink the juice drank by the Major? Sagar didn't even want to think about it further. If he started thinking about it, he would think wrong about his mother. He never wanted to do that. At the same time, he could not let it go through.
Finishing the drinks, Khushi went to their room. Sagar followed her. Getting inside the room, he locked the door, looking at Khushi intensely. Khushi smiled at him and got confused because he didn't reciprocate it.
"Sagu, are you alright?" she extended her hand to touch his forehead.
Sagar moved a step back making her stuck. Khushi sensed something wrong with him.
"What happened Sagu? What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing is wrong with me, Mom because you taught me to be RIGHT in all situations... I never thought of infringing it... because I thought my mother can never be wrong"
Khushi frowned. Why was he talking irrelevantly?
"Why are you suddenly telling me all of this? Did I do anything wrong?" Khushi asked him hesitatingly.
"I know how much you LOVED Dad..."
"I still love him, Sagar..." she corrected.
"I too thought the same..."
"What do you mean?" she frowned.
"I know how hard your life had been. I witnessed your struggle in front of my eyes. For every boy, his father would be the first hero. But for me, you are my superhero, Mom." Sagar stopped, choking.
Khushi lifted his chin and read his eyes. she was shocked, seeing them teary.
"Sagar... why are you crying? What happened, Sagar? What made you cry?" she panicked.
"I... I saw you drinking the remaining drink that was left unfinished by Major" he said, closing his eyes.
Khushi was horror-stuck. She gulped down hard. What she would do now? What could she answer him?
"I thought you are a woman of values..."
Cutting him,
"Sagar, no... don't talk anything more..."
"Why Mom? Will you deny what you just did?" Tears slipped from his eyes.
Khushi closed her eyes.
"What is the meaning of your act, Mom? I was so proud of you and of your love for DAD. What a great man my Dad is...! I have not even seen him but I respect him so much because of your love for him. I thought he must be a great man and that's the reason my Mom is not ready to replace him... but today..."
"Sagar enough... I can't tolerate it if you saw one more word..."
"I won't talk about it if you erase what I just saw..."
"If I'm capable of erasing what happened in my life, I would have erased many things, Sagar..." she said emotionally.
Sagar was about to say something, but Khushi stopped him by showing her palm.
"You became my life after your Dad went from my life. I lived for only you. But now, you are suspecting my character which I can't tolerate. I never wanted to tell you the truth... but, the situation pushed me to do it now. I have no choice other than telling you the truth..." she gulped down.
"What truth?" Sagar was nervous.
"Major is none other than your DAD... My Arnav...." she cried biting her lip.
Sagar was shocked to the core. He looked at Khushi with widened eyes. Tears rolled down from his eyes. His expression changed and he smiled with tears.
"Is it?" he asked unbelievably.
Khushi nodded yes.
"Why didn't you tell me before, Mom? Do you know how happy I'm? Didn't I say I feel something whenever I see him? I felt our wavelength in between us. My intellect is not wrong" Sagar rushed to the door and was about to open the door, but Khushi stopped him.
"Wait, Sagar..."
She pulled him towards her.
"Don't say anything to anyone... including Arnav. He should not know you are his son"
"But why Mom?" he asked shockingly.
"He has a family..."
"Are not we his family?"
"No, Sagar... you are his son and I'm his wife but it doesn't matter now. We should not create problems in his family. According to him, we are the chapters that ended in his life. we should not try to enter his life. It will ruin many lives"
"Mom, don't you think of me? Won't I like to be with my Dad? I like him very much and he too likes me. I'm sure he will become happy if he gets to know that I'm his son. He openly praised your upbringing... he is happy that you brought me up so well"
"Everything is right, Sagar. Think of Sanjay. He is a special child. He needs Arnav's attention. Our revelation will confuse their life. Let them live peacefully..."
"Mom..."
"I won't stop if you want to tell him the truth but I will go far away from you then" she intimidated him.
Sagar was shocked to the core.
"Mom..." he cried.
"That's final" Khushi said strictly.
Sagar sat with a thud.
"Ok... as of now, I won't tell him the truth but if the situation turns against, I won't quiet. And now, you shouldn't stop me from getting close to him. Please give me that happiness, at least"
Khushi nodded ok controlling her sob. Sagar ran out to meet his father. Khushi started crying, bursting out.
Sagar saw Arnav going somewhere. He rushed to him and hugged him tightly, making Arnav stuck.
"Sagar... what happened? Is everything alright?" Arnav asked.
Sagar broke the hug, managing himself. Arnav was confused, seeing his wettish eyes.
"Sagar... why your eyes are teary?"
"Something went into my eyes" he said cutting the MAJOR off.
"Come, wash your eyes..."
"I... already did" he smiled.
"Oh... by the way, what made you hug me?"
"I just became emotional about your service experience" he managed.
Arnav smiled. Don't know how many surprises this boy was going to give him. Such a cute boy... Arnav thought. Though Arnav thought he was the son of the man who snatched his wife from him he could not hate Sagar who was so polite.
To be continued...
