38. Personal Cheerleaders.
***Veer's POV.***
"Do we need to do this?" Lesly asks me for the fifth time.
"Yes." I say and she sighs so I ask with a frown, "Why? Don't you like my girlfriend?"
"Look at my weight, then ask me." She says.
"She is an excellent cook, isn't she?" I ask with a smile.
"That's not the topic here, Veer." She says.
"Then what is?" I ask.
"Are you really sure about letting the public know that you have a girlfriend now?" Lesly asks as she follows me to the next interview.
"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" I ask.
"Because your fans would be disappointed that you're not single anymore." She says.
"That doesn't mean they will stop loving me. Spin up a good story. Use our childhood friendship for that. It would look very sweet and also it is true too. Show your good pr skills, Lesly." I say.
"That's great. Is there anything else I have to handle then these?" She asks sarcastically.
"Yes. I need free passes for my whole family." I say and she groans.
"And I thought my family was huge." She mumbles as she walks away while I chuckle at her reaction.
Tomorrow is my first match in Chandigarh for the international tournament. And if I won, I will be leaving for Delhi where I would fight with boxers from all over India. My blood is already pumping with excitement and I can't wait for all this to be over soon so I can give my special surprise to Piya.
I gave a small interview on a radio show, then drove back to my gym at home in Chandigarh where my couch was training me as per Mom's order. And actually it is very spacious for me too. As soon as I enter the house, I find Piya sitting on the couch, concentrating hard on her book.
I tip toe towards her and wrap my arms around her shoulder and kiss her cheek loudly, "I missed you."
"What about us then?" I hear and look up to see Dhruv Uncle and Simi Aunty along with my parents and Siya.
"I missed you too, Uncle." I say and he sighs.
"Next time, look around first before greeting your girlfriend, son." Dad says and I nod.
"Yes. Nobody wants to see that again and again and again." Dhruv Uncle says.
"It is not like I am doing this on purpose." I say.
"He is right. You just have bad timing, Dhruv." Dad says.
"I thought you were on my side." Uncle says.
"I am on the side where I will eat nutritious yet tasty food. Right, Piya?" Dad asks and I look down to see her cheeks tainted with red.
She slaps on my arm to release her, then gets up, "I have some work."
"What work?" I ask as I follow her.
She stops in the kitchen and turns around with fire in her eyes, "What was that, Veer? You almost gave me a heart attack. On top of that, Papa saw us again."
"Calm down. It is no big deal." I say as I wrap my arms around her waist.
"Not for you, because you are getting more and more shameless day by day. But I can't let you kiss me in front of my parents." She says.
"Okay. I understand." I say.
"Good." She says.
"I won't kiss you in front of your parents, even accidentally." I say and she nods again, "But what about in private?"
She looks up in surprise and I take advantage of that and land a big kiss on her lips. We have been together for two months now and are getting comfortable in our relationship very nicely. All the awkwardness that was fogging it has almost dissipated and in its place is this new feeling to be close to each other.
"Veer! Stop it." She says when I step back and looks around, "What if someone saw us?"
"Why didn't you stop me before then?" I ask, and raise a brow.
"I was busy kissing you back." She says.
"Want to get busy again?" I ask as I nuzzle her cheek.
"Stop it." She says with a chuckle.
"You are so not convincing. Push me away instead of pulling me closer, Piya. It would seem more believable then." I say with a smile when she keeps pulling me close, holding my jacket in her hands.
"You know I can't resist you and you take advantage of that, don't you?" She asks and her eyes look pure chocolate.
"Like you don't do the same." I say.
She leaves my jacket and steps back as she says, "Meet me at the terrace tonight. I don't like the audience for my romance."
"Sure." I say.
"And don't fall asleep like last time. I was waiting for you for an hour before I got a text from your Mom that you are sleeping. It was so embarrassing. To think she must have read all those texts I sent to you to make me wait." She says, still not forgetting that event.
"Can't believe Mom cracked the code for my phone." I say.
"How would she not know that your passcode is the initials of all of our names?" She asks.
"Well, now she won't know." I say confidently.
"Is it the date of your Mom and my birthday?" She asks, and my eyes get wide in surprise.
"How did you know?" I ask.
"You are such a basic creature." She says, patting my cheek.
"Whatever." I say and take her hand to place a kiss on her palm, but she takes it away.
"Uh-huh! Wait till tonight. If you can stay awake, that is." She says in a challenging tone.
"I can." I say.
"We will see." She says with a smug smile.
And I saw her not on the terrace. Where is she? She is more punctual than me. I know she got hold up earlier by Siya, Mom and Anu Masi, who were drilling her with questions about our relationship. They shooed me away from her room. After waiting for more than an hour, I went to her room to check on her.
And there she was, sleeping peacefully with the phone in her hand. I shake my head and cover her with sheets, then caress her head as I look at her smiling face. I would go to any length to maintain this look on her face forever. As I couldn't resist, I bent down to place a kiss on her forehead, then left her to sleep.
Next day, I had to leave home earlier than others. So Mom woke up early and made me eat sweet curd for good luck. Then I started to leave while instructing her to be there on time and show the special pass I bought for them all to my staff to let her or anyone in my family in.
"And do not bring a first aid kit. They have them there along with doctors." I say to Mom.
"I know that, dear." She says, "You should focus on your match."
I nod and start to leave, but stop again and turn back to her, "Mom"
"Yes, Veer." Mom says.
"Did you keep any fast?" I ask suspiciously.
"Why would you ask that all of a sudden?" She asks, looking anywhere but me.
"So you did keep a fast. Break it. My fight has nothing to do with your breakfast. So break it." I demand.
"No. For their kids, mothers can do anything and will believe anything." She says.
"Then believe in me." I say.
"I do, dear. But this is for your safety. Please don't argue with me before leaving now." She says with a pout.
I sigh and walk back to her, then say, "I love you and I will always be worried for you. You are the most precious person in the world to me, Mom."
"Aww! More than Piya?" She asks.
"My love for you both is different. No one can replace her, but I can't let anyone take your place in my life. And she is just like you, Mom. Calm and composed, but possessive at heart. Also, my biggest personal cheerleader." I say and she gets flustered.
"I can't dance like that anymore, otherwise my hips would literally revolt." Mom says.
"Not to worry, Ask Piya to do that. That's a personal request." I say.
"Ask her yourself. I won't do it. What if people say that they are yet to be married but Piya's mother-in-law has already started making her dance to her signals?" Mom says, and I laugh.
"You are so cute, Mom. I love you." I say and kiss her cheek.
"Not more than me. Now go." She says and I nod.
I walked outside and just closed the car door when I heard someone calling me and looked outside to see my beautiful angel dressed in a black night suit running towards me. Do I need glasses or is she really looking a little sexy with messy hair and fluffy slippers?
"Good morning." I say with a smile.
"Good morning. Sorry for calling you from behind. It is not good. But I have a solution. Drink this." She says, giving me a water bottle and I drink it.
"Why did you wake up? You should have slept in. The match isn't for another five hours." I say.
"I know. But I wanted to..." She says and nervously tucks her hair behind her ear.
"You wanted to know what, Piya?" I ask.
She looks around, then opens the door and kisses me passionately by wrapping her arms around my neck. For a second, I am surprised and I almost fall back, but then I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her inside to make her sit in my lap as I respond to her love with fervor.
I love when she dives her fingers into my hair and dominates me. She loves being in charge a lot, especially when it comes to spontaneous kisses like this. I run my hands up and down her back and could literally feel her skin through the thin layer. The thought that she has nothing under her top is making me grow crazy. I pull away before I lose my mind and she breathes hard and looks at me with an unknown emotion in her eyes.
"I should go now before someone sees us." She says.
"You should have thought about that before attacking me like that in the driveway." I say with a smile.
"Oh, no! Did someone see us?" She asks in panic and I make her look back at me again.
"No." I say as I see Siya entering the house, focusing on our car.
Where the hell was she all night? I can't ask her that question right now because if Piya knows about her presence, she would literally die of embarrassment, especially if Siya said something in front of everyone. So it is better to ignore her for now for Piya's sake.
"Now I should go." She says.
"Just a second." I say.
"Why?" She asks.
"I forgot to give you something." I say as I see Siya on the entrance waiting.
Is she waiting to tease Siya?
"What?" She asks.
"This." I say and kiss her forehead as I keep my eyes on the door and after a few seconds she goes in, "I am done now."
"Well, that was nice." She says with a smile and tries to get up.
"Careful." I say when she almost stumbles.
"You make my legs go jelly." She says and I smile.
"And you make my mind go... foggy." I say, and she chuckles.
"See you at the match." She says.
"See you at the match." I say, and she walks away.
I keep looking at her until she goes in and sighs loudly, "I will go crazy in love soon."
